This exact issue came up in a serious business meeting at a corporate database job I used to have, to the eventual horror of everyone involved.

Took me a while to figure out why my coworker, who jumped to demonstrate on the laptop running the powerpoint, turned beet red and avoided everyone for weeks. Once it clicked I have never been so glad to have been half asleep at a boardtable. Thanks to my being too tired, I was slow on the uptake to volunteer when the bosses asked for an example of this supposedly superior AO3 search feature.

As a result, *I* was not the one who showed poorly punctuated porn to the entire department.

The problem with AO3 is that every online store's search function is bullshit by comparison

When I first read this I asked my teen-in-the-’60s-age relative about that very issue. Received a whole lecture about the differences between ‘going on a date’ and ‘dating’ and ‘going steady’ etc. Social distinctions (apparently less well-defined in modern times) that would allow for Archie to date both Betty and Veronica without ‘cheating’ on either.

General take away was that what Peter is doing here (not telling two ladies about each other) was idiotic, but not necessarily unexpected, or even unethical.

Oh my Godddd. The US Army chorus was told to perform at the White House for Trump and his cronies and they chose to perform One Day More from Les Miserables. What a gutsy move. A giant middle finger to authoritarianism right in front of Trump's face. Good for them.

To every member of the military and every civil servant fighting in big ways and small, public and private, to protect the Constitution and uphold the oaths you swore, thank you for your service. We see you and we love you. We're counting on you and we're all behind you 100%. Hold the line.

This made me actually tear up and feel a little hopeful. Everyone, no matter who they are needs to do their part. The Fascists are dangerous but they are few. Together we can all defeat them and keep the freedoms so many have fought so hard for.

Also I am living for these comments!

A fantastic point! Never made the connection to the real world 'everyman' duelist, but it makes so much sense.

Although I did always think it was hilarious that in a universe where chance outcomes can be demonstrably affected by circumstances (morality, determination, rule of cool...), a guy with neither destiny nor money on his side pulled ahead of the competition by *building a deck around gambling.*

As Tiring As All This Shit Is, I Can't In Good Faith Continue To Use Spotify.

As tiring as all this shit is, I can't in good faith continue to use spotify.

As Tiring As All This Shit Is, I Can't In Good Faith Continue To Use Spotify.

For anyone else jumping ship, I used exportify.app to save my favorite playlists.

---

Edit: I'm used to maybe getting a like or two with the occasional single reblog (of mostly shitposts) so when I saw "99+" notifications I thought my app had glitched. So you can imagine my overwhelm when I was hoping to actually reach someone for once but never ever expected this, much less 10k or even 1k (or 100 if I'm being honest!). I do see people's questions and wanted to be able to provide answers but other users have already been very helpful! (thank you all so much!) So I recommend going through the notes for tips and suggestions.

So far I've downloaded Deezer and used a combination of tunemymusic and soundiz to transfer my playlists. Some seemed to only transfer the name of the playlist but no songs so I'd try the other site then it would work fine. I forget which but one has transferring more than 500 tracks at a time behind a paywall so I just did one playlist at a time and it worked. It also lets you check/uncheck individual tracks. I also like that it would show you what didn't transfer (for not being on Deezer) so I can find them elsewhere. I think the most that failed at once was maybe like 10ish tracks from my anime playlist which makes sense. It was a few specific artists.

I usually try to keep my blog peaceful (but not necessarily neutral) because we all need an escape from doomscrolling and people don't realize how quickly they can drown out your entire timeline/feed/dash/etc with said doom, despairing, and even flagrant misinformation. It doesn't mean I'm ignoring what's going on or not doing the work irl. I personally have days when I just don't have the mental capacity to process all the terrible things happening and need to see just fanart or laugh at shitposts so my goal is to provide that space for anyone needing that same breather. Hell, I just lost my job less than two weeks ago in an unexpected layoff and rent's due in a couple days so that's where my focus has been instead of the news. So I'm super grateful that one of my rare "please look at this" moments was actually, well, seen.

When I was just a small girl this really solidified for me what real, healthy love should be. I idolized Holmes and reading that story absolutely drove home to me the difference between love and obsession. Amazing story, notable for the most bad*ss exchange in the series "You're too late, she is my wife!" "No, sir, she is your widow" *pulls gun*

You know I'm sure you mean a specific 30 issues on a specific run. This is made much funnier, though, by the fact that this is widely applicable enough that I don't know which.

'The greatest of ease my ASS' -Nightwing at some point, probably, and also his entire peanut gallery

for a solid 30 issues of nightwing you just spend the entire time silently begging god to give him one singular win in his miserable life

I do wish people knew more about Book!Frodo vs. Movie!Frodo. Like, I love Elijah Wood and I love his performance but Book!Frodo is a lot more scrappy and not quite as pure of heart, despite still being a pretty nice guy. Because it leads to a lot of fanon that because Frodo is quiet and nice, he's therefore helpless, sanctimonious, and childlike.

Like Frodo is probably the most polite of the four hobbits, but he's also the oldest. A lot of his interactions with Merry and Pippin specifically read like he's an older and wiser big brother who enjoys teasing them. The movie kinda acts like Frodo is naive to a lot of Merry and Pippin's hijinks, but the books are clear that Frodo was also out there stealing crops from Farmer Magot, and it was probably his idea in the first place.

He's not above practical jokes, or being petty, or losing his temper. When they first set out from the Shire, a cute character detail is Frodo choosing to wake up everybody in kind of funny ways, scaring Sam awake by making him think he's slept in and is late for work, and yanking Pippin's blankets and basically rolling him down a hill. He's king of veiled insults and trying to let out his depression in funny ways like saying "Let's not worry about tomorrow, it probably won't come." Like when Sam thinks Frodo's messing with him when he starts saying Sam should be called the Stout-Hearted, it's not like there isn't a precedent for that kind of thing.

The movie also omits a lot of Frodo's badass moments and qualities, like when he manages to just barely cut the Witch King of Angmar on Weathertop, or when he makes his stand at the River while being chased by Nazgûl, or when he slices off the arm of the Barrow-wight, or when he confronts Sarumon. He also is the only of the four hobbits who can speak some elvish and is definitely the most worldly because he's spent so long with Bilbo. Usually most of the hobbits look to Frodo for advice or guidance.

And to be clear, he is nice and modest and very polite and compassionate towards others. Like he's always making an effort to be kind. But he has layers, and is a mature adult who I think is reduced by a lot of his sweet cinnamon roll characterization. In actuality he's more like cool older bro who lets you stay up late when he babysits and who's trying not to let anyone else know he's in the middle of a break down.
