The trick is to specifically cultivate this cycle such that the interest-fields of one fandom rest and lie fallow just when another comes ready for harvest >:D
i feel like being in a fandom long-term has a very specific repetitive cycle that kind of looks like this
I love this take! I do feel that in his defense he only picks up the gambling as a schtick AFTER becoming involved with a mystical force that can demonstrably affect chance outcomes.
I like the idea of combining the two ideas; he learned there was a way to lean on the odds and he ain't too proud to try it.
It will never cease to hurt me that his whole gimmick is gambling and luck when his father's gambling issues are (one of) the very thing(s) that delt him a shitty hand in life. For fucks sake, Jou pays his own tuition (highschool in Japan is neither required nor free. It's mentioned that he is trying hard HARD to turn things around by getting into domino high in the manga.)
I can't even blame him for trying to fix things with luck and gambling, it's all he was taught by his old man after all. Ahh talk to me about this I have so many thoughts about Jou. He deserves better.
Always remember, kids, Spiders are ambush predators!
Yea, wonderful tactics guys. You sealed yourself in a dark cave with a man who doesn't need to see and can stick to any solid surface. Amazing Spiderman 14
A master class in Menace. It's so light and lovely, but we KNOW...
After several train changes, Moriarty chasing them on his own personal train (??) and a boat ride, they arrive in Brussels to news:
THE FINAL PROBLEM - part 3 of many - part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - bits from the next part of the chapter - the canonical moment where Holmes accidentally refers to Baker Street as "our rooms" and then corrects himself will haunt me forever.
This is in the Watson's Sketchbook series!
Ah yes, my new roommate, a private detective who often must disguise himself and remain inconspicuous, will surely enjoy being the most famous man in all of London. Perhaps I shall have the strand post accurate illustrations to go along with the incredibly detailed descriptions. -Watson, after Holmes borrowed his stuff for experiments one too many times
Everyone gives Sherlock Holmes a hard time about being mean about Watson's writing, but honestly imagine you told your roommate "sure, you can write up an account of my work for the newspaper," thinking it would be like, about the murder, but then he publishes it and it's 90% about you, as a person, and it's a huge hit and now everyone in London knows that you hoard newspapers and do cocoaine when you're depressed. Because I think you'd be little miffed too.
SOMEHOW (via the impeccable gay vibes) you have made this EVEN MORE tragic. I love it and also How Dare You?!
THE FINAL PROBLEM - part 5 of many - For Tonight. part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4.
This is in the Watson's Sketchbook series!
"an explanation, but never an excuse," as my mother would say.
Since the OP made their post unrebloggable (and blocked me. Both actions they are well in with their right to do)
I'm going to make my response it's own post because I think the point is important

As someone who is autistic and has BPD and CPTSD and loads of trauma yes you sometimes need to change how you interact with others to keep people around
When I was 13 I hit the few friends I had when I was angry
I had to change that in order to keep those friendships
When I was in my early 20s if I was losing an disagreement with my husband I would threaten to kill myself. My husband told me it hurt him and was cruel and manipulative behaviour, because it was.
So I worked hard to change that to keep my relationship
It's easy to say "I shouldn't have to change for others" and that's true to an extent. You shouldn't change your interests or passions or dim your light. And you should have space to be imperfect and flawed and not have to pretend your ugly bits aren't real. But if something you are doing it causing other people harm you kinda need to change that.
That's called "living in a society"
People adapt to each other and make space for each other in their lives. You adapt to them and they adapt to you
You start being more diligent about throwing away the empty toilet roll because it really bothers them. They start warning you before they run the blender because you hate loud noises
I stopped threatening to kill myself because I was mad I was losing an argument and my husband stopped being so vocally judgemental amount media he personally dislikes
There is a certain type of person who heard the phrase "your emotions are valid" and took that to mean "my emotional reactions and my behaviour are always objectively correct because my emotions are valid and if you have an emotional response or react to what I'm doing negatively then you are wrong and you can't be hurt because my emotions are valid"
And that's a recipe for disaster
Your emotions are valid to feel. They are how you feel and there are reasons you feel the way you do
However, your reactions and behaviour are something you can learn to control and can be irrational
We live in a society and we as people change each other as we interact and that isn't necessarily a bad thing
I invented Human Chow once! When I was in high school (and already very ornery on account of that) I found out that I had dietary restrictions, and decided I did not want to deal with that. So I teamed up with some actual nutritionists from the hospital that my mom worked at to create the cheapest, lowest ingredient, meal that I could eat three times a day indefinitely. Including all of the vitamins and nutrients that I would need, as well as the proper caloric balance. As I recall it involved soybeans, tomatoes, spinach, olive oil, and various veggies I could all get dried or frozen at the store. Then I put it through a food processor, and froze it into portioned pucks. It looked like vomit, tasted like whatever spices I threw on top of it that day, and meant I didn't have to worry about what I was eating for literal months, at the low low cost of being incredibly weird (and 25cents per plate). 10/10, I should get back to that.
I did, in fact, think of the meal cubes. I put it in an ice cube tray a couple of times, but I never did figure out how to dye it properly.
so tired of having to cook and trying to figure out wtf to eat, can I just have like. Specialized human dog food or something, like some vegetable and protein biscuits and a special drink so that I only have to think about maybe cooking something once a day instead.
I'm glad we actually limited his powerset a bit more than that, I guess back in the 60s it wasn't as well known just how WEIRD "all the powers of earth's lizards" would be if true. Amazing Spiderman 6
SO psyched!

Favorite Bruce and Dick moments…READY GO
Oooh I'll go from 5 to 1. I have many more moments but I'll just do my top 5! (Also if they're from the same event I'm gonna count them as a singular number)
Alright let's go!
5.
This moment from the Hush Wedding issue. I honestly love this whole issue because it's super cute and shows how close Dick and Bruce are. Plus that wonderful Travis Moore art!
4.
I'm mixed on the Hush comic but I will always love this moment you can feel the admiration and respect Bruce has for his boy.
3.
Again mixed on Beast World but it has some cute Dick and Bruce moments. I'm always weak for moments where Bruce directly calls Dick his son and shows so much concern for him.
2.
These two moments have me so weak anytime I see them. Bruce wanting to make sure that Dick was as happy as he was when Dick was young and using Dick as an example of a hero he knows couldn't be evil no matter the universe. The amount of faith and respect this man has for his eldest son is endless. I can't believe this was gonna be the comics to permanently kill off Dick.
1.
Honestly all the Technis Imperative is full of cute worried Bruce moments. This whole crossover he's a worried dad who just wants his son back safe and sound and it's adorable!
And those are my top 5! Thanks for the Ask, Pal
This was fun! 😄
