ah, to be an unfinished jily fic from eighth grade...

Prompt: James is a fantastic hugger and Lily, more often than not, gets caught up in his spell.

"You look like you need a hug, Evans. And I'd be happy to offer you one."

Lily glared suspiciously at James. He grinned angelically. "Please?"

Sighing, Lily reluctantly allowed herself to get swept into James's arms. James wrapped his hands around her and rested his chin on her head.

"Has anyone ever told you that you are extremely adorable, Evans?"

"Bloody flirt," Lily murmured into his shirt.

She could sense him smiling. "I try."

There was silence as James tightened his hold around her waist. Lily involuntarily found herself cherishing every moment of the hug, never wanting to let go —

James finally broke away, leaving Lily weak-kneed and dazed. She already missed the comfort and warmth of James's arms, as corny as that sounded. Lily did not understand why the hug made her feel like this. In all logical senses, a hug from James Potter was supposed to be as repulsive as he was.

But it wasn't.

In fact, the hug was good. Great, even.

And that's what scared Lily the most.

James beamed at her as she regained her senses. "Feel better?"

"Worse," Lily lied through clenched teeth.

"Want another hug?"

Yes.

"No."

"Your loss."

True that.

"So." James put an arm around Lily's shoulder, but she shrugged it off. "What's new?"

You pay this woman to sit on babies? That's disgusting. I'd sit on a baby for nothing.
