Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Headcannon

I was feeling nostalgic thinking of the show and had this thought, where did Yusei, Jack and Crow learn to ride their duel runners? The show says that the duel runner Jack stole from Yusei was the first one he built, but they already knew how to drive and do so well enough that Jack became the King of turbo duels shortly thereafter. All three do some pretty spectacular stunts while riding, and that’s not the kind of thing you learn in a day. So I was thinking, Satellite’s a dumping ground for junk and trash, and something that probably became a lot less popular after duel runners were invented are regular old motorcycles. What if the guys found some, or parts of some that Yusei and Crow then built into bikes, and taught each other how to ride. Martha’s great but there’s no way she had the time to keep constant supervision over all the kids she was raising all the time. It’s canon that Yusei, Jack, and Crow had the time and lack of supervision to get caught up in gang fights, so clearly they had pretty free reign to get up to who knows what. So we’ve got three pre-teen boys with little supervision who find and reconstruct some old motorcycles where they then teach themselves how to drive. They would have had plenty of space to run around and I imagine they probably dared each other into doing stupid stunts. They also probably taught themselves turbo duels with regular duel disks. I’m just picturing them being the adrenaline junkies that they are and doing all sorts of stupid stuff that probably eventually ended in the three beat up motorcycles being destroyed and then after they met Kyousuke and made their gang. We never got a full idea how long that stuff went in for, but I’m guessing only like a year or so. So, pre-teen trio teach themselves to drive and run their bikes into the ground over the course of a few years. Then the three, probably age 14-ish meet Kyousuke and all that stuff happens. The three split after the gang fell apart, at some point Yusei falls in with the three friends we see at the start of the show and he builds his first duel runner. This was something he probably started after their motorcycles broke and worked on off and on over the next three-ish years until Jack steals it at age 16-ish. Two years later and we’ve got the beginning of the show with Yusei at 18.

Superman Fic Idea

So, I’ve seen plenty of fic where Batman is depicted as the most paranoid member of the Justice League where no one knows his identity n the whole team and maybe don’t even know he has kids. (I hate fics where the justice league meet the Batfamily for several reasons) And, for the most part, I do think Batman would be more paranoid then other members when it comes to contingency plans, but I don’t actually think he’d be the most paranoid about his actual identity. Pretty much everyone Batman knows and cares for is some kind of super or super-affiliated. He’d be careful, but I don’t think he’s the most motivated to make sure his identity stays secret.

You know who has a lot more incentive to want his secret identity locked down right? Superman. This almost invincible hero who can really only be hurt by going after his loved ones, of which he has plenty. Superman has his parents, his friends, the Daily Planet and Smallville, all of whom would be in danger if it got out that who he was. Not to mention, Superman doesn’t where a mask, his biggest protection on his identity is that no one thinks he has one. You don’t suspect the random reporter guy to be Superman unless you have reason to believe Superman has an actual job.

I think Superman would actually be one of the most careful heroes in regard to his identity. And it would be pretty easy for him to do, especially since he has an actual name to give them to use.

Moving to the actual fic idea. A story about the Justice League founding and growing together through the framing of how much Superman shares about himself. I like the idea of the Justice League being taken in by the Kal-El came to earth as a teenager-adult and using his birth name. I think Superman might drop hints about himself mixed with info he learned from ai Joe-El. I just think it would be a fun story, maybe play with expectations in a bit with Batman and Superman.

The idea is that I’ll talk about my day here plus whatever tangents I go off on as I do so. No idea how well I’ll keep up with it but I try.

BNHA - A Thought

I’ve noticed something of a trend in BNHA fics that kind of group all of the adult characters into being in the same peer group. This isn’t the case, there’s some pretty drastic age gaps between them all. Most of the teachers, (Eraserhead, Midnight l, Present Mic and the like) are all in their early 30s, they really aren’t that far off from being young adults themselves. I don’t know about all of the various heroes but Endeavor is 45 and All Might is 10 years older than him. All Might did not attend UA with his rival or any of his colleagues, he’s too old. I’m pretty sure he’s actually been being All Might for longer than most of his teacher colleagues have been alive. It just seems weirdly common for people to make him younger so they can have some high school romance back story in shipping fics, or just because they don’t seem to realize it. The whole point of All Might is that he’s been around a really long time, you lose some impact if that isn’t the case.

Doctor Who Headcannon

I have this idea about Susan and why the Doctor already has a granddaughter when he was still in his first incarnation. Like, his partner was much further along in their regenerations so the Doctor ended up having a kid really young. I’m going to say this was kind of a scandal, someone in their first incarnation with someone in, like, their seventh or something. Then Susan’s mother followed in her dad’s footsteps, kinda, only going even further and having a kid not only while still in their first incarnation but then with a non time lord, some other species with a lifespan about as long as a single regeneration. So Susan only has the one life, but it’s several centuries long. That’s a big reason why she left with the Doctor, Gallifrey does not look kindly on mixed species. They seem like the conservative type that way.

OUAT AU Idea

Killian and Liam are the sons of Wendy Darling and Davvy Jones. At some point Wendy and her brothers end up back on Neverland, only they’re all older and for Wendy that makes her an adult, not something welcome in Peter’s Neverland unless you’re a pirate or a member of the tribe. She’s not welcome with the latter so Wendy becomes a pirate, taking up the moniker she’d thought up for herself so long ago, Red Handed Jill. With James Hook gone the Jolly Roger has been left adrift, none of its crew willing to take the captainship.

When Jill steps in they’re tired enough to let her take command, especially after she promises to help them leave Neverland. She keeps her word and they end up leaving in what is probably a fascinating story that involves Wendy sending her brothers back to England and Peter being forced to give up the title of Pan.

The Jolly Roger ends up in the Enchanted Forest realm and they sail there for a while as pirates until the ship is destroyed in a battle with another pirate ship, the Flying Dutchman. Jill and the surviving crew members, one of which is Smee, end up on the Flying Dutchman with the option of joining the crew or being run through.

Over time Jill and Davvy end up falling in love and he extends to her and the other interested crew members the situational immortality his magic blood and bond with his ship allows. They sail together for decades, Jill becoming known for her love of obtaining book and amassing a great collection. Eventually they choose to settle down and Davvy sends the Flying Dutchman off...somewhere. Jill and Davvy have two children before some kind of event happens that forces them to leave the boys to take care of it. They intend to return but don’t make it and Killian and Liam are left as orphans.

From there their canon story occurs, mostly as is. Malcom takes over Neverland as the new Pan and Killian, after losing his hand, decides to take after the man of his mother’s stories and takes up the moniker of Hook.

The England that Wendy is from isn’t the same as the England of the World-Without-Magic, but is instead a close copy where all the famous fictional stories and characters set in the “real world” take place, like Sherlock Holmes, Alice, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein (who doesn’t live in a world without color and doesn’t try to bring his brother back, it’s the actual book), etc. So, basically Killians is actually familiar with the geography and some of the history of Emma’s world, but he keeps that to himself since you never know what could come in handy.

Sandman Fic

I’m getting pretty annoyed with the trope in fic that Morpheus is out of touch with the modern day. I get that he talks pretty formally and is an ancient being, but he’s also the personification of every living thing’s collective unconsciousness. He’s going to know all the same everyday stuff of any modern person that’s in their unconscious mind. The fact that he was trapped for a century, or 80 years depending, wouldn’t change that. Especially if you consider the comic canon that he’s Dream for the universe, not just Earth. Just because he missed humanity’s jump in tech doesn’t mean any of it is new to him. There are probably plenty of alien planets with similar and more advanced technology he would have known before he was imprisoned in the first place. I just don’t like that idea and I see it way too often.

Kakashi’s Sharingan

So for some reason most of the fandom seems to think Kakashi was stronger with the Sharingan, and yeah, without it there’s no more Kamui or Chidori, but I still feel like not having a constant chakra drain would be vastly superior to those two techniques. Like, it always seemed to me that the Sharingan kind of crippled him, with it he had to constantly be careful of his stamina and chakra reserves, which are the two most important parts of being a shinobi. I feel it was made pretty clear that the main reason Naruto was able to do most of his most impressive feats was because he could throw around chakra like nothing else and just, never got tired really. I always imagined Kakashi having to hold back in fights because he never knew when he’d run out of chakra. That would have limited his ability to practice too, because he had to be careful to not overdo it all the time, which would be a lot shorter of a period for him than other people. Even in taijutsu, pretty much everyone uses chakra to enhance their speed and strength, not to the degree of Sakura and Tsunade, but they all still did it. Kakashi always seemed to be fainting from chakra exhaustion, just, imagine if Kakashi had, instead of adjusting to the Sharingan for the past 16 years, spent that time improving himself overall. The kid was a genius and had started to figure out how to add nature change to the rasengan when he was 10, what would he have been able to do if he could rely on his chakra reserves. I just picture Kakashi being seriously stronger after the fourth war without a Sharingan crippling him anymore.

Fanfic Complaint

Why is Hashirama portrayed as such a bad brother in fanfic so often? Or Butsuma being monstrously abusive? Or the Senju clan hating Tobirama because of his looks? I get wanting to garner sympathy for the character but I personally hate the idea of Tobirama having a family that can’t stand him.

Give me long suffering Senju who have long since grown used to weird explosions and odd looking experiments. Give me sappy, overprotective Hashirama who loves to spoil his only remaining baby brother. Give me a Tobirama who is loved and supported by his family and clan.
