Can things actually be okay for once?
Me practicing self-care and good habits even when the depression is on max volume.

U ever watch those "Signs Of Depression" vids even though u know all the signs and have been diagnosed, just to make sure?
“You’re not a mental health advocate if the only mental illnesses you’re comfortable discussing are depression and anxiety.”
— Project LETS
My mental illness is turning me into someone I do not recognize. I used to try be a very kind and empathetic person but now my first reaction to any situation is not to be kind or empathetic. It is anger, being mean and a horrible person. There is so much anger and I don’t know where to put it, don’t know what to do with it, how to deal with it. I’m scared of the person I’m turning into because I do not like her way more than my older self who I already hated
- Try sitting upright in your bed instead of laying down. It's a que to your body that it's not sleepy time
- Have your phone in the bed? Listen to music or look at a thing you like. Or text somebody and ask them to encourage you, or if you live with them/they live close to you, ask them to bring you something you want. Like food. Or their company
- Keep easily accessible snacks by your bed/in your room at all times. Anything from dried fruit packets to chips bags to just drinks. It's not a meal but it's food, and gives you a good start to go get more
- Have a lamp or whatever other light source than your phone, that you can switch on when you wake up. Also a que to your body that it's not sleepy time
- Have very-little-prepare or no prepare foods in your pantry/fridge. Protein bars, those packets of ham/turkey/chicken that are ready sliced for bread, literally just bread, ready to drink yogurts or smoothies..
- Throw eating guilt out of your life asap. Food is literally only meant to be consumed. An unhealthy food or snack is better than none at all.
- Compliment people, or say meaningful things to the ones you love. Your dog. A friend. An internet mutual. It doesn't have to be alot and it doesn't have to be written well. Just let em know that you appreciate whatever thing about them
- Put on one (1) additional article of clothing. Your fave accessory. Socks. Pants. A hoodie. You'll feel better about yourself
- Put one (1) dirty item in the dishwasher. Or hamper for dirty clothes. You can put more. But just one is enough
- Not enough energy/motivation to upkeep a professional level of hygiene? No problem. Run your hair under the sink. Wipe down your face, or armpits with a cloth. Put on some deodorant. Brush your hair, even if it's still tangled afterwards. Brush your teeth. Toothpaste not mandatory. Toothbrush not mandatory. It can be a wet cloth too. Or gum with xylitol. Blow your nose. Wash your hands. Any of these. You'll feel better about yourself
- Cry. If you need to, let it out. It can be for any littlest or "dumbest" reason. But just cry if you have to. It makes the good chemicals come to your brain after
- Do something you like. Whatever makes you feel better. Don't feel like doing anything? Don't do anything. Just sit. Have a comfy position. Just look at your surroundings. Think about whatever, as long as you don't spiral into bad thoughts. Or don't think about anything. Head empty. You aren't required to do anything but live.
Anyone is free to add onto this!! These have been what's helped (and still does) me through the worst, when you're literally just struggling to be a human being. I hope any of this helps!
