My god! I've learned a wealth about tarot from watching your readings (which are scary accurate btw). But being a beginner, I sometimes don't know how to apply this knowledge in an organized way. I have like random notes that I tend to sadly forget about when I'm interpreting the cards. :( I guess my question really is a request for a cheat sheet about the personality of the court cards. If you do see this message, have a great day and thank you for all your wisdom and kindness, Lady Diana! <3

Hello! Hope you're having a good day! I wanted to ask if you could tell me anything about astral projection? I really want to do it but I'm worried if it's dangerous and also wanted to know how to exactly go about it? If you could help, that'd be great. Thanks a lot ♥️
I first did it when I was five.
I woke up after a nap crying. I told my dad I saw a dollhouse in my dream, and that I wanted it. He gave me the equivalent of USD 20, told me to go back to sleep and buy it.
Of course he really gave me the money so I could get one from the mall. But the cash was gone by morning. I was angry. I thought my dad took it back. He swore he did not, and had my brother take me to the mall to find a dollhouse.
That night, I woke up at 3:00 AM. Instead of the dollhouse we bought hours before, what I glimpsed on my desk was the one I had seen in my dream. I went back and bought it after all.
Even now, when I sleep over in my childhood home and wake up in the middle of the night to pee, I still see it on the desk, as if waiting to play with me.
It is only our body that requires sleep. When we dream, our soul stays awake, journeying in limbo to places our body cannot go. We either find ourselves in our memories of the past, in a hidden corner of the present, or in the future. Even in a parallel reality, or beyond the veil. Oftentimes, we come across other people.
Wandering, or astral travel, is simply setting a destination instead of merely going with the flow; as well as making sure the mind remembers the expedition.
The first step is to decide where you wish to go. A moment from your childhood? A year into the future? In a parallel reality where a loved one who has passed on is still alive? Or the day when you will walk the aisle as a bride?
Wherever it is, you will visit as a spectator, unable to influence what is happening in that reality, but capable of interacting with other wanderers. Think of it as watching a movie. But instead of being in front of the screen, you are inside it.
On a night when the moon is full or waxing, go to bed wearing the appropriate shoes. If it is cold where you are going, bring a jacket. If it is likely to rain, hold an umbrella.
Once you are used to wandering, you will no longer need the help of the moon and the protection of clothing.
Lull yourself to sleep by slowly reciting:
Hum the words slowly. Chant them rhythmically. They are powerful words that lift the veil, allowing your soul to leave this reality. As you speak them, think of the place you wish to be.
The moment you surrender to slumber, you are guaranteed to get there. What is uncertain is if upon waking, you will remember your journey. If you do not, it only means you are not yet strong enough.
Keep trying. Some witches succeed on their second night, others on their ninth. There are those who can do it on their first, but only for a few moments, before being thrown back into our world.
You know how the saying goes. Anything that is worth doing is worth failing at, at first.

Hi Diana! You mention a lot the Fates on your posts.I got really interest on ow to get a bigger contact with them.Could you tell me how I can have a proper and respectful contact with them? And what can I use as offerings?
Unlike Venus, the Fates do not bestow beauty. Unlike Apollo, they do not gift victory. Unlike Pluto and Mars, they do not promise potency.
The Fates are the authors of destiny. Clotho, who spins the thread of life... Lachesis, who decides its length... Atropos, who one day cuts it.
As their devotee, not only are you granted glimpses of what has been, what is, and what will be, but the ability to change what they have written already.
That is why their patronage does not come cheaply. Worshipping them is not for everybody.
1) Approach at the time of your birth.
You may perform this ritual on any day, for the Fates can hear you at any time.
But it must be on the same hour as when you were born, to symbolize your desire to be reborn as their seer.
Once you begin, there can be no breaks in between.
2) Have an elder cut your hair.
With a knife that has been in your family for at least three generations, have your blood mother, grandmother or another elder cut three inches of your hair.
Tie your locks with a ribbon you owned as child. Bury it in the earth of your childhood home, where you have memories, sad and glad.
This is you burying your innocence. As a servant of the Fates, you will see things no "child" can.
3) Find a mirror as tall as you.
Place it in a locked room free of noise and sunlight. Stand in front of the mirror in darkness, with only a white candle in hand for light.
In your own language, tell Clotho the birth name of the one you most love... tell Lachesis the name of the one you most envy... and Atropos, the name of the one you most despise. This is you revealing to them who you are deep inside.
Look into the mirror. Stare until your face warps into that of an old woman. That is the Fates accepting you into their service.
The ritual is done.
Build them an altar. Give them books. Mortals' tales to entertain the authors of life. Give them food. To nourish them when they visit you on earth.
Invoke them for divination and vengeance. Count on their revelation and guidance.
But if your face did not warp into an old woman's... your plea has been rejected.
Do not try the ritual again, or three years of your life will be taken.
Hello Diana, thank you for running this blog, it is a valuable resource to all of us! I saw that you recommended Witchcraft: A Handbook of Magic Spells and Potions by Anastasia Greywolf and I have found it to be a brilliant book. But so many other 'spell books', etc., are just rhymes with little thought put into them. Do you have any tips on discovering 'true' witchcraft sources?
1) It has Christian or Biblical elements.
As I have shared before, my ancestors were among many pagans who dressed up their incantations in Catholic disguise to avoid persecution and prying eyes. So if you see words that sound like a Christian prayer, names of saints, or verses from the Bible, then the spells are likely old and were used by earlier pagans — not invented by New Age Christians.
2) Google Translate cannot decipher all the words.
When a foreign spell can be translated to English perfectly, it may have been reverse-engineered. Which means someone wrote it in English then translated it to Latin or another old language to fake heritage. Witches used to tweak their grimoires, using the wrong vowel or symbol here and there, so as to encrypt their orisons. Real spells should be “imperfect” when translated. Which brings me to my third point:
3) Most of the orisons are not in English.
Not because “English is too mainstream”, but because pagans from other cultures all over the world were still creating and strengthening their spells by the time practicing witchcraft had become fatal in the English-speaking world. In other words, the growth of English-language spells was stunted and killed while everything else was still thriving. But feel free to perform modern English spells, if you are of the belief that such incantations are just as potent as the ancients.
4) Some details are quite disturbing.
In line with the above, remember that witches of the past did not live by today’s politically correct standards. Spell books that mention gutting animals or taking a drop of your neighbor’s blood while she’s asleep are most likely copied from authentic sources. Which is not to say that we should do such things now. But a spell that is all sugar, spice and everything nice is unlikely to have any old roots.
5) There are inconsistencies or gaps in the instructions.
Unlike in today’s tumblr posts and YouTube videos, where spell instructions are step-by-step, grimoires of the past were, again, encrypted. So that the authorities or anyone undeserving can try the spells but gain nothing from them. An initiated witch would have been taught how to recognize the “code names” and ignite all the necessary flames.
Whatever religious or spiritual tradition they identify with, most witches agree that there is something sacred about the natural world. We draw our power from the earth beneath our feet, the sky over our heads, and the air in our lungs.
And yet, many of us live in societies that are actively contributing to the destruction of the natural world. Most developed nations have a linear economy, which means resources are extracted and then sent on a one-way trip to consumers who will use them and then throw them away. This leads to overflowing landfills, air and water pollution, and quickly disappearing resources. The World Economic Forum predicts that, if our habits don’t change, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050. And I dearly hope that by now we’re all familiar with the reality of climate change and its devastating impact on global ecosystems.
I’m not trying to scare you, but I do want to point out the hypocrisy of drawing power from the Earth in our magic while simultaneously contributing to her destruction. If we truly want to consider ourselves spiritual allies of the planet, we need to make an effort to live our lives — and practice our magic — in ways that are less harmful to her.
You don’t have to become an environmentalist or switch to a zero waste lifestyle, but we can all make little changes for a more sustainable life. There’s lots of information out there about how to live a more Earth-friendly lifestyle, so in this post I’ll be focusing on how to apply that same philosophy to your witchcraft.
Limiting your consumption will automatically lower your negative impact on the planet. Follow my previous guidelines for avoiding consumerism to start shrinking your carbon footprint.
Avoid plastic as much as possible. According to the WEF, 70% of our plastic ends up in a landfill or in the world’s waterways, and according to Julia Watkins, author of Simply Living Well, only 9% of household plastics get recycled. Plastic (unlike glass and metal) cannot be recycled indefinitely — it can only be recycled a handful of times before it becomes too degraded to be repurposed any further. There really is no way to make plastic safer for the planet, so it’s best to just avoid it altogether. Look for tools made of metal, wood, or glass instead of plastics, and try to order things shipped in paper and cardboard when possible.
Create spells that won’t leave leftovers. One of the big contributing factors to our current environmental crisis is that we just produce too much waste. You can avoid this in your magical practice by crafting spells that won’t leave you throwing away a big ball of candle wax, herbs, and paper. Kitchen magic is a no-brainer for this, since kitchen spells are meant to be eaten. If you want to do a candle spell, use small candles that will burn up completely — I find larger candles are more likely to leave leftover wax. Making magical bath salts is another great option for leftover-free spells — just make sure everything you include is safe to go down the drain and won’t contribute to water pollution!
Forage for your own spell materials. One of the best ways to avoid plastic packaging and cut down on emissions from shipping is to use materials from your backyard! Learn about the plants, animals, and minerals native to your area, and take regular nature walks where you can gather what you need. Remember to only take as much as you need and to be careful never to damage the plants you harvest from. Make sure to carefully disinfect any animals bits you pick up — you can do this by burying them in salt for a full moon cycle and/or setting them in the sun/under a UV light for several days. If you find a dead animal and want to strip and clean its bones for use in ritual, this is a much more involved process and will require special research, equipment, and lots of time. And, of course, never eat anything you have foraged unless you happen to have an advanced degree in botany.
Keep a magical garden. Another great way to connect with the planet and shrink your carbon footprint is to grow your own herbs, vegetables, and fruits. You can, of course, grow food for your kitchen if you have space, but even if you live in a tiny apartment you can grow a handful of magical herbs in pots. For a list of common houseplants and their magical associations, check out this post.
Shop for spell materials at a local farmer’s market. Buying local is a great way to avoid the environmental impact of shipping produce, and it allows you to support small farms. Farmer’s markets also typically carry seasonal produce, which can help you align your magical practice with the cycles of nature. Farmer’s markets are a great way to find seasonal fruits and vegetables for kitchen magic, but you can use the produce you find there for other types of spells as well.
Trade paraffin wax candles for beeswax or soy wax. Paraffin, the material used for most cheap candles, is a by-product of crude oil, which is not only highly unsustainable but contains carcinogens (chemicals that may cause cancer). Beeswax is a sustainable alternative, and beeswax candles produce a “clean” burn, meaning it does not negatively affect air quality. Soy wax is a slightly pricier, vegan-friendly sustainable option that also produces a clean burn.
Use undyed, unbleached paper for your written spells. The bleaches and dyes used in most commercially available paper have a toxic effect on the environment. Colored paper cannot be recycled or composted because it will contaminate everything it touches. Use plain, unbleached paper for your written spells, especially if you plan to bury them in the ground or dispose of them outside.
Make sure your essential oils are ethically harvested. Essential oils are tricky — although they are marketed as natural, many of them are produced through unsustainable methods. Because essential oils are concentrated, it may take thousands of pounds of plants to produce a single pound of oil. This can have a devastating impact, especially for endangered plants like white sage or palo santo. Look for ethically-sourced, wild-harvested essential oils — these are oils that are gathered from the wild in ways that don’t hurt the local ecosystem. Mountain Rose Herbs and Eden’s Garden are two brands that are committed to sustainable essential oil production.
Instead of burying a spell in a jar, bury it in a hollowed-out fruit or vegetable. Many traditions call for spells to be buried in the ground. Items like jar spells and witch bottles are traditionally buried on the witch’s property. The problem with this is that plastic and glass bottles do not biodegrade, and will remain in the ground for years. Instead of putting these materials in the ground, bury your spells in a hollowed-out fruit or vegetable. As a bonus, you can choose this item to support your intention. For example, you might use an apple for a love spell or a spicy pepper for protection. Just make sure everything inside the spell is also biodegradable!
Keep a compost pile as an offering to your local land spirits. Compost is an easy way to reduce food waste, and it gives your garden a boost! Even if you don’t have your own garden, you can give your compost to a fiend who does or look into donating it to a community garden. When composting, it’s important to maintain a balance between carbon-rich “brown” ingredients (leaves, undyed paper, cardboard, etc.) and nitrogen-rich “greens” (fruit and veggie scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells, etc.) — you want about four times as much brown as green in your compost. Start your compost with a layer of brown — preferably twigs or straw to allow good airflow. Alternate layers of green and brown materials as you add to the pile. Every time you add to your compost, verbally express your gratitude to the land spirits. Your compost should be moist, but not soggy — you’ll know it’s ready when it’s dark and crumbly and smells like soil.
Make your own tea blends with loose herbs and a reusable tea strainer instead of buying teabags. Witches and tea go together like peanut butter and chocolate, but the individual wrappers on teabags create a lot of waste. On top of that, since many of these wrappers are dyed, they may not even be recyclable. Keep your teas earth-friendly by buying dried herbs in bulk and blending your own teas. Making your own blends is not only better for the planet, but also allows you to choose each ingredient for a specific magical intention.
Find ways to use your trash in your craft. This one is pretty self-explanatory. Instead of throwing things away, find ways to use them in your magic! Use food scraps from cooking, like carrot greens and potato peels, in spells. Turn an old shoe box into a travel altar. Add your coffee grounds to spells to ground them and manifest results in the physical world. You get the idea. Be creative!
Research different models for Earth-friendly living, like the zero waste/low waste lifestyle, sustainability, and the solarpunk movement. This will give you more ideas for a sustainable lifestyle, as well as a sustainable magical practice.
The funny thing about Earth-friendly living is that, the more time you spend taking care of the planet, the more connected you feel to it. I encourage you to try some of the ideas on this list — you’ll be amazed by how quickly you develop a deeper relationship with the Earth and all her creatures.

Hi Diana, as someone who is learning to read trines, squares & oppositions can you tell us what aspects help show the deities present at our birth? I have been drawn to Pluto most, but am wondering about Saturn, Venus & Diana. Most of my signs are in my Sun in 2nd, Capricorn. My moon, in Pisces, fourth house& I have pluto in Scorpio, 12th house. I also have Moon trine Pluto. Is that trine significant? Any help you can give is amazing, your blog is one of the few on Greco-Roman Deities I trust 💜
Your astrological parent is the divinity who was reigning at the moment of your birth. How can you tell which god that is? I previously explained it to intermediate astrologers. I am now doing the same for beginners.
Which Zodiac sign appears the most in your natal chart? If you see Gemini once, Scorpio once, Libra thrice and Pisces six times, it means Neptune (Ruler of Pisces) greatly outranks Mercury (Ruler of Gemini), Pluto (Ruler of Scorpio) and Venus (Ruler of Libra) in your life.
(To see which god rules which sign, click here. Use this too for the next step.)
Which of your Houses is the most occupied? If you see just two planets each in your First House and Fourth House, three planets in your Fifth House and four planets in your Twelfth House, it means Neptune (Ruler of the Twelfth House) outranks Mars (Ruler of the First), Diana (Ruler of the Fourth) and Apollo (Ruler of the Fifth).
(For a sample natal chart calculation, click here.)
The first two steps are sufficient to determine your divine parent. In both signs and Houses, Neptune won. He is the god who was present at your birth.
So why look at the aspects? It is one of the factors that will allow you to call yourself Neptunian. Because a god attending your birth only means he will give you presents and keep you safe now and then. (If you approach him, that is.) But if his presence is strong even in your aspects, then you might just be entitled to carrying his name, and that means you will be among the most beloved of all his children.
CONJUNCTION
This is when two gods find themselves in the same room. We do not know if they will get along.
OPPOSITION
This is when two gods, annoyed with each other, are giving one another the cold shoulder.
SQUARE
This is when two gods are having a battle – hitting, kicking, cursing, cutting up each other.
SEXTILE
This is when two gods are drinking wine together, jesting and laughing with each other.
TRINE
This is when two gods have set their differences aside and made a pact to support each other.
If Neptune is squaring Saturn in your natal chart, that is good for you. These two do not get along. The fact that they were fighting at the time of your birth means Neptune was very much himself in that moment. And if Neptune is trining Uranus, even better. These gods like each other. It means at the moment of your birth, your father was having fun with a friend.
If a god’s dominance in your signs and Houses is clearly undisputed, and your aspects reflect his or her rivalries and alliances, it means you can carry their name, and there are many wonderful favors you can surely claim.
