Ways To Worship Discreetly

Hey I was was wondering how you make offerings to the gods? I don’t have much of a safe place in my home to do it because of my family, but when I can there’s a huge old oak tree I take fruit and wine to.

Ways to Worship Discreetly

Some of us still have to hide, unfortunately.

Altars with No Portraits

Choose an item that represents your deity. For Venus, a red rose. For Apollo, a mini lyre. For Mercury, a scroll. For Mars, a lamp of LED fire.

Shrines Hidden in Plain Sight

Build a small shrine on your nightstand, a section of your bookshelf or a nook inside a cabinet. To others it will look like décor. Nothing more.

Dry and Packaged Sweets as Gifts

A box of brownies, a jar of cookies, a bar of chocolate… Compared to fruit or meat, no prying eyes will expect these to be meant for deities.

Poetry, Song and Art as Presents

Whatever talent you have, humbly offer it. If you are good with words, write your deity a poem. If you are gifted in music, compose them a song.

Indoor Plants as Offerings

Gift your god a plant, and nurture it in their name. Speak to it as you water it. Between you and your deity, let it be a living conduit. Never let it wilt.

Hey Lady Diana, I was wondering if there are any ways you can share to protect a grimoire. Thank you for all of the knowledge you've shared!

How to Enchant Your Grimoire

Our family grimoire, our personal “semi-grimoires”, and our various journals may be different in size, content and purpose, but there is one thing they all share: they have a curse on the first page.

This curse must be written by you, in your own words, using your mother tongue, and invoking the might of your higher powers.

1) Written by You

Handwritten, not typed. The act of writing is an act of creating.

2) Your Own Words

Do not use someone else’s. The words must come from your soul.

3) Your Mother Tongue

This will help call the attention of your bloodline’s predecessors.

4) Your Higher Powers

This curse is powered by the strength of your divine benefactors.

5) Time and Place

Inscribe the words at the witching hour, in your sacred space.

6) Strength of Intent

Depending on your faith, a cursed grimoire should be indestructible.

Sample Inscription

Through the gifts bestowed upon me by the Lords of the Occult: Uranus, Neptune, Pluto…

By the wisdom, power and might of the Fates: Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos…

In the name of my astrological ruler, Venus: Goddess of Love, Beauty, Harmony…

Anyone who has the slightest malicious intent towards me, who so much as lays eyes on any page of this grimoire, shall suffer an agonizingly long and mercilessly painful existence, until he or she kneels before me and seeks my forgiveness.

Is there anything about familiar or the personnal daemon in your tradition ? Sorry if it's too personnal i study agrippa's "witchcraft" he often speak about this being a old believe in greek tradition.. iloveyousomuch

There is a story my mother used to tell me about demons.

It starts like Rapunzel’s.

There was a man who wandered into a vegetable field. It was so vast that he did not think it stealing to take a couple of crops. He believed the farmer would not miss them.

And for a second he thought he was right. He bumped into the farmer, who told him, “You can keep them. But next time, ask for permission.”

The man thanked him and walked straight home. The trip took him less than half an hour. But when he arrived, he was welcomed with tears of shock, relief and joy alike.

It appears he had been gone for weeks.

It was a demon’s field he came upon. And demons do not like thieves.

If the old gods are queens, demons are ladies-in-waiting.

They are not divine, and their powers are limited, but they are immortal, and can help or ruin humans. They are spirits.

The Abrahamic religions, because of their strict belief in one god, had to demean their power, by adding evil to their description, so people will look down on them. So their god will have fewer competition.

My family has always had a strong relationship with demons. We do not worship them, but we respect them. And in spells like this one, it is they who respond, not our divine father or mother.

We believe them to be old ones. They live in forests. Forests that are now filled with houses. And that is why every house has one or more demons. Not because they need humans to thrive, but because we took over their home, and they had to learn to live with us.

They can grant and take away whatever good or bad thing you can think of. But since they are not gods, it will always have a limit.

For this reason, some witching families are afraid to work with them, thinking them to be whimsical and untrustworthy. The truth is, even though they wish to keep helping their humans, their capacity to give simply runs out.

So one should be careful what to request of them. Ask for money to buy shoes, not a car. Ask them to make you look your best for a special occasion, not to change the color of your eyes. Ask for the attention of someone you admire, not for marriage to that person. Blessings of a fleeting nature. That is what they are good at.

In exchange, one must treat them like the wisest of pets. Offer them food and water. Give them their own space. And if they like you, they will show themselves. The ones in my childhood home look like elves.

Dear Lady D, I followed your advise on having a dream journal to list down every thing I see while sleeping. I now have a bunch of numbers, sayings, and colours. But I'm not exactly sure how to check how they're relevant to my life? Deeply gratefull for any advice!

What to Do with the Symbols in Your Dreams

They are messages that need interpreting.

NUMBERS

See the matching dates. 127 could be December 7th or July 12th. Mark both on your calendar. Something major could happen then.

Add the numbers together until you end up with one digit. 1 + 2 + 7 = 10. 1+ 0 = 1. Something important could take place on the first. Or you might win first place in a contest.

Check if you know anyone whose address or license plate number has 127 in it. They could play an important role in the coming days.

LETTERS

See if they are someone’s initials. CB could be your friend Charlie Bonnet. J could be short for your ex Jay. Either of them could call you soon.

Google if they represent a company. JNJ stands for Johnson & Johnson. Maybe you are being advised to apply for a job there.

Look around for nearby billboards or posters with those letters. There might be words around it that you need to be reminded of, or phone numbers you can use to win the lottery.

COLORS

Ask yourself how the color makes you feel. Does orange make you happy? A new source of joy might show itself to you soon.

Think of what the color represents. Gold means glamour, wealth and royalty. Fame might be on its way to you, along with prosperity.

Think of who is in love with that color. If you know someone obsessed with pink, ask them how they are. They might need you right now.

ANIMALS

Think of the animal’s reputation. Snakes are feared. Perhaps you are being warned against potential danger.

But how do you feel about the animal? If you think snakes are wise creatures, then some sort of enlightenment could be coming towards you.

Remember how you reacted. If you ran away from a dog, you are being asked to be brave. But if you were happy in that dream, you could soon meet a new friend.

FOOD

Find out what the food is known for. If you dream of spinach, your body might be telling you it is low on iron.

Ask yourself what the food means to you. If M&M’s reminds you of fond childhood memories, perhaps it is time to be more childlike again to achieve more happiness.

Google the restaurants nearby that sell that appetizer, meal or dessert. That is where you could meet your next lover.

WORDS

Take them as straightforward advice. “All we have is now.” Translation: Life is short. Do that thing you are scared to. Ask your crush out. Demand a raise. Fight back.

Check out the source. “Impossible is nothing” is an Adidas tagline. The next person you see wearing Adidas shoes could be the one for you.

Remember who always used to say those words. “That’s hot” is a Paris Hilton trademark. You might find yourself traveling to Paris soon enough.

What are your thoughts on black magic (eg. love spells/ for revenge) & collecting bones?

There is no black or white magic. Only magic that balances or unbalances.

If you knew a man who molested children, and you gave him a stroke, ensuring he never moves again… you took away his ability to cause pain. You helped bring balance back. Such magic cannot be called black.

If you cast on yourself a memory-improving charm, which placed you ahead of a classmate who deserved first place… you caused an imbalance. What to you was harmless was not quite. Such magic cannot be called white.

Love spells cause imbalance, for the affections you take are not yours to claim.

Revenge spells create balance, for you are merely giving back the pain you unwillingly obtained.

If you are powerful enough, you may do as you please. But know that those who cause an imbalance will owe a debt that will one day be collected.

As for bones, all that is dead should be given back to earth. They deserve to be left in peace, not taken and reawakened.

Actually useful shit to have as a witch

You really don't need all the fancy bullshit every tumblr influencer will ever tell you to use. Here's my countdown ofaxtually useful shit.

A pocket knife, preferably with a wood handle. Use that bitch for everything, enchant it, carve symbols in it. It will absolutely be your best friend.

A good bag or backpack with a couple of plastic or ziploc bags in it. If you ever run off into the woods to find minerals, bones, plants, etc. A set aside bag and some things to store your treasures in becomes a necessity.

Basic divinatory sets. You don't have to buy fancy shit, learn to divine with playing cards and dice, or learn geomancy, lithomancy, or rune casting with homemade sets. A tarot deck is nice, but it isn't necessary when you've got so many other divinatory aids available.

A nice sized chunk of scrap cloth. When you process dried plants or sort new ones, that shit can and will get everywhere. A scrap piece of muslin or linen can help contain all of that mess and make clean up way easier.

A stash of good rocks. Draw sigils or symbols on those babies and leave them in the garden, the windowsill, property boundaries, under the stoop, etc. You can never have too many good rocks.

A pendulum, for fucks sake. The cards are going to be vague as hell when you're trying to figure out yes or no questions, and using a candle to communicate with spirits is really fucking hard outside. If you can't afford one, find a nice chunk of pointy quartz and learn to macrame.

A workspace. Everyone talks about having big fancy altars, but no one mentions that you need a good surface to do all your work on.

Storage, so much storage. I'm not talking about mason jars and pill bottles, I'm talking about where you put all the things you put in those jars. Having a workspace with drawers is immeasurably helpful.

A broom and water source. You're going to be cleaning up after yourself a lot, it's helpful to have a jug of water and a broom that stays by your workspace.

A mode of cleansing. I make a salt concoction to scatter around my workspace on short notice and store it close by.

On that note: SOMETHING TO CANCEL SPELLS WITH. Eventually, something will go wrong. You'll want to end that spell immediately. Have something to do it with.

A strainer. If you don't have a blender, rub dried plants across it to get a powder. If you do have a blender, you can strain that powder with it. Either way, if you intend to powder shit, get a strainer.

Small trays. It makes drying flowers so much easier if you have a small metal surface to contain them with- then just stick those suckers in a southern window and let em go.

Yarn/string scraps. Having a box or drawer of scraps makes trying this up to dry easier and a bit less wasteful.

A stash of offerings for whatever you work with. Honey for fae, coins for graveyard gatekeepers, alcohol for ancestors, etc.

Protective talismans or charms. Once you're into all of this stuff, you'll likely stick your nose in something you shouldn't. Having basic protection with you or in your workspace is incredibly important. A key and hagstone with red string is simple and effective.

A lighter- so many people forget the most basic shit. You're going to want to light shit on fire if you're a witch.

And a last tip- if something is too hard for a mortar and pestle, a plastic bag and hammer works too.

Hi Diana. If you don't mind then can you tell us something about cats in your religion ?

Cats are Scorpio. Dogs are Leo.

A cat is quiet and solitary. But its claws are sharp and its fangs can be deadly.

A dog is eternally a child. Always happy and faithful. Adorable, irresistible.

Birds are Gemini, with their beautiful songs and endless twittering.

Monkeys are Virgo, with their intelligence and incessant criticisms.

Horses are Libra, with their grace and beauty masking their inner ferocity.

Fish are of course Pisces. Soft, mesmerizing movements… living in a world of their own.

Crabs are, as you know, Cancer. A fort on the outside. Vulnerable on the inside.

Frogs are Sagittarius, with their sudden, shocking croaks. Versatile too, like amphibians.

Tamaraws are Capricorn and Taurus alike. Strong, determined, reliable.

Turtles are Aquarius. Slow yet also unpredictable. Flimsy yet also stable.

Any untamed dogs and horses are Aries. Wild, uncontrollable, fierce.

The craft needs to evolve with the times. My ancestors used to take these animals’ organs in order to harness a Zodiac sign’s power or to heal or hurt someone born under these stars.

By learning how to practice without anchors (taglocks), we no longer hurt any living creature.

Hi love! Thank you for all the work you do — your blog is incredible. I wanted to ask you about offerings. I know you mentioned dark chocolate when you do personal readings; what else do you use for offerings, and can you talk about them in general? I haven't seen anything about offerings on your blog, so my apologies if you answered this already! Thank you so much!

What You Can Offer the Old Gods

They do not live on mortal land. We kindly summon them to us. So before every offering, ask, “Will this be worth their journey or not?”

FOOD THAT SATISFIES

During a ritual or ceremony, offer them a full course meal, complete with fruit, meat, bread and wine. Something abundant, fragrant and befitting a god.

FOOD THAT IMPRESSES

When you come across unique food, give them some. Luxurious chocolates… a specialty from a city you visited… Anything worthy of their interest.

FOOD THAT TOUCHES

Each time you bake, give the first batch to the gods. Even if your sweets are nothing too remarkable or elegant, it is your effort that you offer.

OBJECTS THAT HONOR

A silver arrow for Diana. A porcelain shell for Venus. A music box for Apollo. Anything related to the gods’ identity, or whatever reflects their personality.

OBJECTS THAT CONNECT

A tarot deck… a scrying mirror… a rune set… Any conduit for visions or messages. Offer it up to the gods, so that they may speak to you through it.

OBJECTS THAT ENDEAR

A poem for Mercury… your trophy for Mars… your medal for Saturn… Even cheap items, if they mean something to you, will be something to them too.
