Hi Diana I recently kept getting signs and feelings that pointed me in the direction of witchcraft and paganism and I’ve accepted that something is trying to call me to these beliefs is that sounds right. My question is where do I start? There is so much information going around and I don’t want to anger anything or get something wrong. What you recommend for someone is is just starting their journey into this religion
Witches could already be practicing for decades, and still, every day, they keep learning new things. That is how wide-ranging and wonderful this path is.
But when taking your first steps, there is no need to be overwhelmed. For now, start with these. Forget everything else.
Just because Aphrodite is trending on Twitter does not mean you should worship her. And just because crystals look good on Instagram does not mean you should start your own collection. Your practice should be tailored to your soul, not to the posts on your dashboard.
So go to Café Astrology and enter your birthdate. It will calculate your natal chart, which is basically the manual to your life. It lets you know your strengths and weaknesses so you can let the former make up for the latter. This website not only shows you the details, it also explains what they mean.
Now that you have a better knowing of yourself, look beyond your existence. Who do you think made you?
Investigate your lineage as much as you can. Was your family always Christian? Jewish? Atheist? Or did your ancestors have a more traditional belief? Having an inherent connection to the old gods means inviting them into your life will be much easier. If you feel a strong affinity with the Greco-Roman gods particularly, use your natal chart to confirm your theory.
But if after much meditation, you find yourself believing that the source is not a divinity, but the cosmos as a whole, then feel free to embrace that energy.
Our eyes can only see what is right in front of us. Divination allows us to see beyond that, and look into the forgotten past… the hidden present… and the future in all its glory.
Tarot is one of the richest divination systems in existence. Here is how you can learn it in one day. But if you feel that it is not for you, there are many alternatives too. Do you enjoy meditating? You might fall in love with scrying.
One of the best things about witchcraft and paganism is that they empower you to improve your life with magic.
Is there a danger you need to protect yourself from? A wound that you need to close? A wrong that you need to right? Whatever it is, there is a spell for it.
Start with the simplest ones. All you need are a few ingredients and ton of faith to make them work.
Now that you know who you really are… where your faith truly lies… how to see beyond the obvious… and how to tweak reality to make life easier… you are officially a practitioner.
It is time to expand your knowledge even further. Read as many books as you like. Try as many methods of divination as possible. Perform as many spells as you can.
You can start with these lists:

Many thanks for your enlightening posts on astrology! I wonder Diana if there is a method that will allow me to understand astro placements as a whole? Or do I just have to study and memorise them all one by one? Cuz now I just research them one by one. Venus in Pisces, Saturn in Cap, Neptune in 3rd. Is there like a method I'm missing? A sort of shortcut maybe?
It is a simple three-step process.
Planets are the sources of energies that influence our lives. For example, Jupiter is the source of abundance, Venus is the source of beauty, and Mercury is the source of intelligence.
Signs are the categories of our personalities. To illustrate, Cancer is a nurturing personality, Libra is a harmonious personality, and Pisces is an intuitive personality.
Houses are the areas of our lives. Such as, the Second House is the area of our money, the Sixth House is the area of our health, and the Seventh House is the area of our partnerships.
THE PLANETS IN A NUTSHELL
Sun – Source of your stamina
Moon – Source of your instincts
Mercury – Source of your intelligence
Venus – Source of your beauty
Mars – Source of your aggression
Jupiter – Source of your abundance
Saturn – Source of your ambitions
Uranus – Source of your eccentricity
Neptune – Source of your intuition
Pluto – Source of your power
THE POSITIVE AND THE NEGATIVE OF THE SIGNS
Aries – Driven and dominating personality
Taurus – Tenacious and stubborn personality
Gemini – Sociable and deceptive personality
Cancer – Nurturing and passive-aggressive personality
Leo – Brave and prideful personality
Virgo – Disciplined and critical personality
Libra – Harmonious and fickle personality
Scorpio – Passionate and vindictive personality
Sagittarius – Optimistic and tactless personality
Capricorn – Determined and greedy personality
Aquarius – Humanistic and emotionally detached personality
Pisces – Intuitive and escapist personality
THE ROOMS OF THE HOUSES
The First House of Self – Area of your self worth, your confidence, how you judge yourself, what you believe your purpose to be.
The Second House of Value – Area of your finances, the money that you earn, whatever you consider as your valuable possessions.
The Third House of Communication – Area of your contracts, the messages you receive, the conversations you have, how you express yourself.
The Fourth House of Home – Area of your actual home, the people you live with, whatever you define to be your foundation as a person.
The Fifth House of Pleasure – Area of your creative passions, your children, the things and places that give you comfort and happiness.
The Sixth House of Routine – Area of your daily life, your health and energy, your schedule at work, your projects and assignments.
The Seventh House of Relationships – Area of your romantic and sex life, your business partnerships, the one person you consider closest to you.
The Eighth House of Transformation – Area of your evolution as a person, what others find mysterious about you, rewards other people will give you.
The Ninth House of Philosophy – Area of your adventures, your beliefs, your learnings in terms of spirituality, what you wish to explore.
The Tenth House of Reputation – Area of your career, your place in the world, how you want other people to see you, your public image.
The Eleventh House of Community – Area of your close friends, your outer circle, the causes that you care about, where you stand in society.
The Twelfth House of Secrets – Area of your own secrets as well as truths that have been kept from you, your intuition, your deepest dreams.
Now that you understand what each of them means, you should be able to interpret any placement simply by combining them.
Pluto in Scorpio in the Seventh House If Pluto is the source of power... Scorpio is a passionate and vindictive personality... and the Seventh House is the area of relationships, then:
A man with this placement has very powerful (Pluto) emotions for the people in his life (Seventh House). He is exceptionally kind and protective towards those he loves (Scorpio), but extremely hateful and dangerous towards those he considers his enemies (Scorpio).
Jupiter in Leo in the Fourth House If Jupiter is the source of abundance... Leo is a brave and prideful personality... and the Fourth House is the area of home, then:
A young girl with this placement could someday have a truly amazing family life (Fourth House). She could marry a wealthy man (Jupiter), and their beautiful, intelligent or talented children would be the source of her pride (Leo).
Neptune in Capricorn in the Ninth House If Neptune is the source of intuition... Capricorn is a determined and greedy personality... and the Ninth House is the area of philosophy, then:
Someone with this placement has the potential to become a cult leader. Spiritual dogma (Ninth House) will be very easy for them to create (Neptune). And their ambitions could push them to preach it to others (Capricorn).
All you need to memorize are the 10 Planets, the 12 Signs and the 12 Houses. Using that knowledge, you can easily assess anyone's personality and make reliable predictions about their destiny.
Dear Lady Diana, thank you for telling us how to invoke our higher self. However, I don't know how to really know when I'm in contact with them when I read tarot. I fear that I'm just convincing myself that I am but in reality it's only the conscious me or else, that I'm unwittingly channeling the message of other entities.
Is there a "universal" way for being sure that you'd be willing to share with us? I'll be forever grateful.
When you have been speaking with your higher self for a long time, you just know. The presence of a pretender would feel like pants that are three sizes too big, or baby shoes being put on by an adult.
But if you are not yet used to communing with your higher self, keep reading to know when it is present.
Entities and ghosts can access our minds. That is how they convince us of their charades. They mimic the voice of our dead loved one… show us an event from our childhood… and speak to us of secrets we never dared tell anyone.
But there is one thing in our mind that even the most powerful undead are incapable of retrieving. Our olfactory memories. Our recollection of odors. The scents that we remember. Because unlike our other senses, what the nose records is simply too personal.
Visual and auditory memories are the easiest to access supernaturally. They are stored like DVDs in our minds. Almost anyone can play them.
Tactile and oral memories are more difficult to grab ahold of. By their nature, they are hidden from outsiders. But since occult beings can see the visuals and hear the sounds that go with them, they can mimic what we once felt or tasted.
And yet, no two people smell something in the exact same way. Our genetic differences or the make of our physical bodies means that when you and I smell the same molecule, I may detect something citrusy while you may detect something floral. Our olfactory memories are hidden from anyone outside of our own existence. Apart from us, only our higher and shadow selves can access them.
So before beginning a ritual involving your higher self, ask it to “show” you a scent from your distant or recent past. Voice it out loud, if you wish. Any entity who is listening will not be able to cheat.
If a minute passes without the scent you asked for showing up, invoke your higher self again. At the moment, it is not present.

The Problem with How We See Astrology
SUN Governs individuality, distinct style, and drive or motivations that fulfill your life. Delineates general character, and the broad strokes that define the self. Vital force, individuality, willpower.
MOON Stands for emotions, instincts and the unconscious. Represents the instinctual reactions one has to the world. The mecca of the inner world governing how we feel emotionally and respond to certain situations. Unconscious force, personality, instinct.
**Whereas the sun represents the will, the moon represents the instinct**
MERCURY The planet of mental activities, communication, and intellectual energy. It rules perception, intelligence, reason, memory, and communication. It reflects the way you see, hear, understand, and assimilate information.
VENUS The planet of love and pleasure. It rules over one’s capacity to express affection and interact with the idea of beauty. Represents your allure and desire. Rules over love affairs, art and beauty, fashion, social harmony and friendship. Gateway to higher emotions.
MARS The planet representing what drives your passions, the strength of your willpower, forcefulness, aggression, and the way you handle conflict. Rules over energy, boldness, and force. The courage and strength one cultivates to get their way.
JUPITER The planet of good luck, optimism, success, and generosity. Associated with where you’ll find expansiveness and abundance. It rules over philosophical knowledge, the extent to which you’re a visionary, higher learning, and honesty. Whereas mercury governs a clever intellect, Jupiter governs deeper wisdom and philosophy.
SATURN The planet of responsibility, ethic, and hard work. Teaches discipline and remains influential until self discipline is understood. It is associated with diligence, self control, limitation, patience, stability, maturity and realism. Governs how trust and respect, along with discipline, are integrated in the self. Are you self disciplined, or does the world deliver these lessons to you?
URANUS The planet of change and originality. Brings and symbolizes the manifestation of awakening, shock, and revolution, the “flash of genius.” Associated with both scientific and humanitarian movements. Similar to Mars, but relating to inner will and secret power. Unconscious purpose revealed over a lifetime.
NEPTUNE The planet of mystery and illusion. Represents power of imagination. It’s the planet of idealism and spirituality. The realm of the subconscious world, hidden memory, intuition, and psychic clairs. The ideals, goals, and lifestyle of the higher self detached from ego.
PLUTO The planet of epiphany associated with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Signifies death and rebirth, regeneration along with destruction and annihilation. Pluto wipes the slate clean. Strong and dramatic changes, especially to collectives, have a significant influence from Pluto.
Dear Lady D, hope you're doing great today! My boyfriend's mom gave me access to his birth chart via his birth time haha. He's aware too. :) I was wondering what to look at or how to read a natal chart when reading about love or compatibility? Thank you, Lady D!
Contrary to what you may think, you do not need to go into endless details. Checking the stars for love compatibility is quite simple and easy.
They are Earth and Water, then Fire and Air.
Which means Earth signs Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo are compatible with any of the Water signs, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. And vice versa.
This is because Water is wild and shapeless, but Earth can tame it and give it form. While Earth is dry and hard. But water can soften it and blend with it to create bridges and castles.
Additionally, Fire signs Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are compatible with any of the Air signs, Libra, Aquarius and Gemini. Again, vice versa.
This is because a wildfire never dies as long as there is wind to fuel it. And Air is invisible, but near Fire, you can see its dancing silhouette. They strengthen each other, creating the perfect blend of warmth and chill.
Zodiac signs belonging to the same element also go well together, but they are not as compatible as the above. Because too much similarity can create boredom or competition, which can destroy a connection.
If Step 1 revealed incompatibility, do not be disheartened just yet.
Know that Cardinal and Mutable tend to be compatible, while Fixed likes to seek itself.
Which means Cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn should find comfort with any of the Mutable signs, Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini and Virgo. Vice versa applies.
This is because both Cardinal and Mutable signs straddle two seasons: Cardinals sit between the end of the last season and the beginning of their own, while Mutables sit between the end of their season and the beginning of another. They know what it is like to be flexible.
As for Fixed signs Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius, they should find kinship in one another.
This is because Fixed signs sit right in the middle of their season. Taurus in the middle of Spring; Leo in the middle of Summer; Scorpio in the middle of Fall; and Aquarius in the middle of Winter. That makes them solid, strong, stable. They can trust one another.
Modality compatibility should temper elemental incompatibility.
If both Step 1 and Step 2 revealed incompatibility, again, do not be disheartened.
Yes, your Sun is your personality. Your overall behavior. And in a natal chart, it is superior to all others.
But we are talking about love. And that domain is not owned by the Sun. It belongs to Venus. So perform Step 1 and Step 2 again, but this time, forget the Sun, and look at Venus instead.
Is it really love compatibility you wish to determine between you and another?
Because if it is just sex, then looking at Mars and Pluto would be what is accurate. Mars rules our desires, while Pluto rules our genitals. So perform Step 1 and Step 2 again, but this time, forget the Sun and Venus.
Or perhaps you are asexual or aromantic, and are only looking for some sort of companionship. Then look to the Moon and Neptune. For the Moon rules our subconscious emotions while Neptune rules our unconscious emotions. Outside of romance and sex, they define how we express and receive affection.
Then again, maybe you do not care about any kind of love at this stage, and are wondering instead how well you would get along with your boss, business partner or roommate.
For your boss, check your Saturn, for this planet rules authority. For your business partner, check Jupiter, for he rules equality. For your roommate, check Uranus, who rules casual connections. Additionally, for all three, check Mercury. For he rules how we communicate outside of intimate environments.
If all of the above revealed incompatibility, all hope is not lost.
Whatever kind of compatibility you are looking for, your Rising sign is bound to play a role.
For if your Sun sign is King, your Rising sign is his queen. And even if Venus is Hand of the King in romance, and Mars and Pluto are Lords Commander in sex, the queen is still closer to the king and holds authority over them.
So for the last time, perform Steps 1 and 2 again, but this time, look at your Rising sign.
If, at the end of this post, you find yourself filled with sadness at your undeniable incompatibility with your person, know that when it comes to the identity of your soulmate, the stars alone do not dictate.
Hello dear Diana! I deeply admire and look up to you. I was wondering if you would kindly share the mottos and/or values that you live by. Thank you :)

Elemental imbalances occur when an individual has a limited element present in their birth chart and most often an excess of another. An unattended imbalance can cause stress of extremes of an element being projected by ones personality (Think of the knights in the Tarot).
Having 10 planets in the natal chart, including the rising sign, we naturally have a high chance of having an elemental imbalance in our birth chart and personality.
An imbalance of elements often looks like a minimum of 2 planets in an element, often seen as only having 2-0 planets missing from being familiar with that elements associations.
Having aspects from planets that naturally contain the missing elemental energies prominent in the natal chart (example, if you lack air but have many mercury aspects), this can aid the elemental lack, though it will not necessarily bring the elements in ones personality into balance for the planet will still be in an excess sign (example mercury in pisces), and it will still act accordingly to the element it’s placed in.

How to balance your elements
When we are unbalanced, we either draw others to use (or us to them) to act as an external reflection of the things we lack within ourselves, however, its possible to engage in other activities that can help bring our elemental lack into appropriate balance that can allow for self-healing and improved wellness.
At times due to elemental imbalances in out chart, we may be drawn to another who has excess of the element we lack (even signs) as to experiences a sense of ‘ying and yang’ by interacting with another. You may find you personally may greatly clash with another, yet you are reluctant to part because they seem to ‘fulfil’ you in a way you can’t explain.
For the element you lack the most in your chart, see the table below to find out ways you can help bring the lacking element in your personality.
