I've got it

After making my life more complicated than I would've needed, I believe I have the correct solution, no doubt thanks to a partner in crime of mine.

The middle sentence is:

Zweibein auf Dreibein vor Keinbein auf Vierbein.

Which translates to:

Two-legged something on three-legged something in front of no-legged something on four-legged something

my translation skills are legendary but it'll make sense in a second

How I figured this out? I didn't, I do admit, I was quite confused, so naturally I tried to automate the process. I wrote a bit of code which would give me every way the first word of the sentence could be interpreted and actually got 'Zweibein' and... for some reason concluded that didn't make sense and moved on. Eventually, I gave it to my partner in crime to read, who figured it out in a short time span.

Great, now we've got the sentence but what does it mean?

Well, the first part is easy. A two-legged creature - human, on a three-legged thing: a stool with three legs. The second part? Not quite as easy.

It turns out similar riddles have been in, for example, The Hobbit, but not the exact wording. Where are a lot of possibilities for a thing with no legs, it's pretty obvious the four-legged thing would be a table. But... what is ON the table?

In the end, we reached the conclusion that the thing on the table would be a thing to eat, since the person is sitting on a stool near the table. Then, what's a food with no legs? 🐟

I've Got It

Ein Zweibein auf dem Dreibein sitzt vor dem Vierbein auf dem ein Keinbein liegt.

I've Got It

Another possible solution for the riddle I came up with while trying to find the answer, but this one is a bit less... straight forward (and just for fun) :D

Are you bored lately? Do you have case at the moment ? Are you aroace ? Do you want a riddle?

Those are many questions for one ask. I am working on a case, but I couldn't solve it yet. It's irritating. I'm waiting for more information about the case from the police and the labs. It's tedious, I've a case but I'm bored with waiting.

I'm always ready for a riddle.

NEVERMIND PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE

I think I have the riddle now, but solving it might be even more difficult

so this is mainly aimed at one person, the person who has inflicted this in the first place (/lh)

So This Is Mainly Aimed At One Person, The Person Who Has Inflicted This In The First Place (/lh)

After decoding the helpful clue, I went back to the original post but the words in the middle sentence do not make sense to me. I've looked through every combination of decriptions (with the keys on the right) for the first word marked in purple, but nothing seems to make sense, not to me at least. Is the sentence in another language, not in German? Am I missing a component for decrypting the runes?

Another clue would be greatly appreciated:D

I JUST FINISHED THE GREAT GAME

What the fuck

First of all how DARE they end a whole season on such a cliffhanger, that's so rude

second of all, why the fuck is Moriarty so goofy? Like... I don't even know. I like him, that much I know lmao. More than fuckin' Magnussen, he's more like the Umbridge of the Sherlock universe, Moriarty is so much better compared to that

(has he threatened and killed many many people? Yes, but at least he has manners)

Anything else... ummmmmmmmm... yea Sherlock go back to elementary and learn the solar system idiot

Well, I can certainly speak German so this was a breeze.

First, I tried to do a frequency analysis, but then, I recognized these symbols as runes, making this process useless. I pulled up a table of the runes and their names and started writing the rune names over every rune.

Well, I Can Certainly Speak German So This Was A Breeze.

Using the first letter of each name, I got 'Guten' and upon continuing this with the other words, I got the following German text: (some letters have been modified to make it readable and make it make sense)

"Guten Tag Herr Holmes. Me[i]n Name ist Loki. K[önn]en Sie Deutsch und Alteresfutark (not so sure what that is)? Nur e[i]n kle[i]nes R[ä]tsel f[ü]r [Z]wis[c]hendurch.

Aweben auf Dreben wor kenben auf wierben. - I do not know what this sentence means, it doesn't resemble any German words I know. Maybe a dialect or a Skandinavien language

Um [w]as f[ü]r eine Situation hande[lt] es si[c]h? I[c]h erwarte ihre Antwor[t] auf ihrem Blo[g].

[V]iel Spa[ß]

Loki Laufeeson"

Which translates to:

"Good day mister Holmes. My name is Loki. Can you speak German and Alteresfutark (not sure what this is)? Aweben auf Dreben wor Kenben auf wierben (I do not know what this means). What kind of a situation is this about? I await your answer on your blog.

Have fun,

Loki Laufeeson"

---

My guess is that 'Alteresfutark' is the old language or alphabet which was used to encrypt this (alt means old, like 'Altgriechisch' is the old greek language).

I don't really have any idea what the sentence in the middle could be, it definitely bears some resemblance to German, but isn't quite similar enough to any other words for me to connect it. Perhaps it's a Skandinavian language or a German dialect I do not know.

And dear Loki, Versuch nächstes Mal eine sicherere Verschlüsselung zu wählen. Das, was am längsten gedauert hat war, alles wieder zu übersetzen :D

how is sherlock coming !! did you finish it i need to know

I'm still at the very beginning, I'm gonna finish the blind banker today so-

(also I don't have every episode available, but I should be good until season 3)

So far, it's pretty good, it's very interesting how many of the memes / gif sets I've seen on Pinterest are in every episode

I'm very excited to watch the Reichenbach Fall though, I've seen a thousand snippets of it but I wanna know how it actually went down

In conclusion:

Someone needs to teach Sherlock self preservation 101

And literally everyone around them thinks they're gay, heck, if Sherlock Holmes thinks you're flirting with him, you're flirting with him (looking at you John)

gonna watch Sherlock 1, 1 now, wish me luck

The way this fandom is looking I'm gonna need it

But my brain demands I watch it and I'm not one to deny not when it's dragging me by the ankles

This came to me as I was lying in bed, not quite awake, and was the thing that made me sit up and open my laptop to write it down

A loved one showed me the movie Blame, a story about humans trying to surivie in an enormous intelligent city that they no longer had control over. Trying to find food while avoiding the being detected and eradicated like vermin. This hostile but indifferent monolith changing around this small community just trying to continue existing. Living on the internet feels like this, but with an even slower level of hostility. We aren't hunted down by killer robots, but instead we are faced with changes that are uncaring and frustrating as inhabitants that live here. A path we once took has suddenly closed or, even more frustrating, now demands grams of gold to open for us. We visit a nearby place where stories are kept and shared, only to find that it and all the people who lived there have been replaced with a big empty hole. New communities sprout up from the collapse of old ones, but we are hesitant to get to know them lest we become invested in relationships that might suddenly vanish; all the while trying not to vanish ourselves. We are living in a crumbling megastructure controlled by indifferent unknowable entities. And while we, the people outside this metaphor, might know the decisions they're making are driven by a desire for profit; it doesn't change how seemly random those decisions seem to us who have to live with them.

❝ No. This won’t work. I’ll stay behind, and fight them. You go on. ❞

❝ When you’ve led the kind of life I have, there are debts that must be paid. Maybe I can balance the scales a little. ❞

❝ You see, I’ve got this honest streak in me, in its own way, a sort of curse. Oh, and there’s the fact that you have no choice. ❞

❝ I’ve heard of one, supposed to be fast, nigh uncatchable … the Black Pearl? ❞

❝ No pirate would sail to London, for fear of the Execution Dock. ❞

❝ Take your captives belowdecks! Chain them in the galley, and teach ‘em how to row. ❞

❝ That’s the second time I’ve had to watch that man sail away with my ship. ❞

❝ We have to get off this island immediately! ❞

❝ [Receiver], how many times must I ask you to call me ‘[Sender]’? ❞

❝ There is but one way to remove the curse: all of the scattered pieces  of the treasure must be restored in full, and the blood repaid. ❞

❝ That’s all very interesting, but I hardly believe in ghost stories any more. ❞

❝ You’ll be dining with the Captain, and he requests you wear this. ❞

❝ Get away from there! You don’t have permission to be aboard there! ❞

❝ Huh. Last time I saw you, you were all alone on a God-forsaken island, shrinking into the distance. ❞

❝ There was a lot of long words in there, missy, and we’re naught but humble pirates. What is it you want? ❞

❝ Not steal; commandeer. We’re going to commandeer a ship. Nautical term. ❞

❝ Welcome to the Caribbean, love. ❞

❝ We can stay alive a month, maybe more. Keep a weather eye open for passing ships, and our chances are fair. ❞

❝ [Name]! I’m not sure I’ve had enough rum to allow that kind of talk. ❞

❝ You’ve been planning this from the beginning. Since you learned my name. ❞

❝ I know now where your heart truly lies. ❞

❝ Just so you know, [Name] — I don’t think you’re that clever. I think you’re a fool. ❞

❝ You’ll be positively the most fearsome pirates to sail the Spanish Main. ❞

❝ That’s what a ship is, you know. Not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails. That’s what a ship need … but what a ship is — what the Black Pearl really is — is freedom. ❞

❝ That’s why he sent off a piece of the treasure — to you, as it were: so it would never be recovered, and so cursed we’d remain. ❞

❝ I have a plan. If it succeeds, then any battle will be decidedly brief … and one-sided. ❞

❝ What are you doing? You’ve burned our food, the shade — the rum! ❞

❝ And as for how we got off the island… ah, that’s a grand adventure, but now is not the time to talk about it. ❞

❝ And though I do say so with regret, the law is clear. The penalty for piracy is death by hanging. ❞

❝ They’ve escaped! There was no damage to the cell… they must have been set free. ❞

❝ Captain [Name] – the Black Pearl is yours. ❞
