i cannot express how badly I need this on a t-shirt π
We've made it to another year and it's a big one! That's right, Ewan only had two projects in 1995, but that's because our boy was extremely busy in '96. He released FOUR movies that year! What's really wild is that isn't even his record number for movies released in one year. π±
A quick fun fact before we get started: The producer of "Trainspotting", Andrew Macdonald, has a cameo in the movie as a prospective renter. He was also the producer for "Shallow Grave"!
Genre: Crime/Drama
Rating: R
Director: Danny Boyle
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Jamie Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner, Robert Carlyle, Kevin McKidd, Kelly McDonald
Movie Review: The movie "Trainspotting" reunited Danny Boyle as director, John Hodge as screenwriter, and Ewan McGregor as leading man. "It is about a group of friends/heroin addicts living day to day in Edinburgh, Scotland. Their only goal is to score their next hit of the drug by any means necessary. The story is told from the perspective of the main character, Mark Renton, who attempts and struggles at getting clean. The movie is essentially a day in the life of an addict. Like a train wreck, you can't look away, even as the characters speed towards death. It's unflinchingly honest, gritty and captivating. It was also a smash hit! Nowadays, people primarily know Ewan McGregor for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi but may not know that his role in Trainspotting is what actually launched his career.
Ewan Review: Ewan McGregor plays the main character Mark Renton aka Renton. Renton is a junkie who loves being a junkie. For him, there is no greater pleasure than being high. Though he sometimes realizes that sobriety is the better choice, he can't help but to fall back into addiction. He's a selfish asshole (a recurring theme with Ewan characters) who is friends with selfish assholes. Renton also has a sexual relationship with a child. The movie doesn't frame this relationship negatively or explore any repercussions so do with that information as you will. Ewan gives a stellar performance and even lost around thirty pounds for the role!
Screentime Percentage (Numbers are rounded to the nearest whole number): Ewan is on screen for a total of 52/94 minutes making his SP 55%. This is his highest score yet!
To Ewan or not to Ewan: Is the movie worth watching for Ewan McGregor content alone? Yes. Is it worth watching in general? Yes. Fair warning, the movie can be dry-heave inducing. There's nudity, graphic depictions of drug use, lots of blood, two feces scenes, and decaying bodies.
Where to Watch: "Trainspotting" is currently for rent on YouTube or you can watch it for free on soap2day. You can also stream it if you have a subscription to Paramount+, MGM+, or Amazon Prime Video.
Conclusion: "Trainspotting" is a movie deserving of its accolades. The writing is phenomenal, the actors gave it their all, the soundtrack is perfect, and the opening monologue is iconic. It's my belief that everyone should watch this movie at least once.
As some of you may know, I was recently kicked out of my house. I'm okay, and I have a place to stay right now, but it is not going to be easy. This is a GoFundMe post, and although I would appreciate donations you DO NOT HAVE TO DONATE. I hold absolutely nothing against people who can't give me money, especially because I know a lot of y'all are teenagers lol. I don't expect to reach the donation goal at all, I just decided on a somewhat arbitrary number that would let me cover all my basic payments for a few months.
You cooked then ATE! Fucking love this!
Chat please let me know if I cooked
I'm desperately trying to drown myself in the fictional worlds of characters that bring me joy. I really want to feel loved and cared about. It's not working very well because, you know, they're fictional π . At some point, I have to snap back to my own reality of never-ending loneliness. I feel a bit frustrated because I have this idea that if I can create more, create better, then I can make more friends. More friends mean more opportunities to talk to people. More opportunities to talk to people means less loneliness. It's a dumb idea for several reasons. It takes time for me to write stuff. Just "making more" doesn't change that. Secondly, I already have friends that I care about. I don't want to get in the habit of chasing numbers because I know there's no satisfaction there. Lastly, what I need is physical connection and as much as a blessing having people to chit chat with online is, it's never going to solve the problem. Can you die from lack of physical contact? Can a deficit of loving care put me in the grave? I'm sure that's not possible. Just overreacting. I like to imagine that my favorite characters know me and can tell when I'm not doing well. They hug me and stroke my hand and worry for my health. They don't leave. They cook to make sure that I've eaten. They spend the night to ensure I'm not alone. I feel safe. I don't feel like a burden. I'm not afraid that I will say the wrong thing or be too sad and will make them give up on me. They don't call me a bummer. They always have time for me. They make time. They don't tell me "that's just life." They love me. Are there any character x reader Criminal Minds fics that aren't romantic or sexual where someone from the team takes care of you? That'd be nice. I really want to finish the Ewan McGregor Movie Reviews. The desire is almost enough to make me want to keep fighting. But there's so many movies and I've barely scratched the surface. I don't think I have enough time. In a perfect world, I would get every last movie done, written, and queued and they could just post automatically. No one would notice I wasn't here anymore. I could have my cake and eat it too. I would also like to meet Ewan McGregor. If you've met him, what was that like? It's crazy that I exist at the same time as him. We might as well be from two different planets hehe. I've wasted my life.

Synopsis: "Emma" is a movie based on the Jane Austen novel of the same name. It boasts a large cast of talented and recognizable actors. Several of them will go on to work with Ewan again in future projects. The movie is about Emma Woodhouse, a young socialite. Although she is an available bachelorette, she enjoys secretly matchmaking couples in her town instead of finding love for herself. She believes greatly in her matchmaking skills, though her pride and naivety cause her to fumble more often than not. When Emma befriends Harriet Smith, a debutante with unknown family heritage, she makes it her mission to find her new friend a fitting husband. Instead, she finds herself more trouble than she knows what to do with.
Ewan Review: Ewan plays the character Frank Churchill. Frank is the stepson of Emma's friend and former governess, Mrs. Weston. He is a charming young man who thrives on being the center of attention. When he arrives in town to visit his father, the townswomen immediately become enamored with the handsome bachelor. Even Emma, who previously thought she was not interested in marriage, can't help being swept off her feet by the gentlemen's advances. Ewan wears a wig in this role I believe because his hair would still be short from filming "Trainspotting." It's not a bad wig but there were some moments where I had to squint and say "yeah, I don't think that's his hair" lol. He uses an English accent for this role and honestly, it doesn't sound very good. He's done English accents before but this one just doesn't sound natural, especially compared to his co-stars. He sings twice in the movie! He performs two duets and the first one always makes me laugh because of how he randomly jumps in. He's also in a dance scene which was really fun. As far as his performance, it's nothing special in my opinion. Again, maybe it's because he was surrounded by a large cast of talented actors, but he didn't seem to shine like he normally does. Or maybe he was tired from filming four movies back to back and the fatigue had begun to set in. Luckily, since his character is a minor one, it doesn't really matter and I still had a good time watching him.
Screentime Percentage: Ewan is on screen for a grand total of 13/121 minutes making his SP 11%.
To Ewan or not to Ewan: Is the movie worth watching for Ewan content alone? My opinion is no. He's a fun perk that you get with the movie but I wouldn't turn it on just to see him. Is the movie worth watching in general? Yes! It's fun. It's cute. It has a happy ending for everyone. It even won two Oscars for best movie score and costume design. It's a calm, low stimulating movie that's still entertaining.
Where to Watch: "Emma" is currently available for rent on YouTube and can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video if you have a subscription.
Conclusion: If you like period pieces then I think you'd like "Emma". It's a beautiful movie and a nice change of pace from the overstimulating movies of today.
