All Summer Long We’ve Both Been Free by perfect_plan (complete |40,841 | M)
Steve has finished school for the summer and waits for the influx of visitors to the island where he lives and the friendships that may bring. What he gets is a whole lot more and this summer will change him in more ways than he could ever imagine.
Fantasmic! by mambo (oneshot |11,464 | T)
It’s Steve’s second summer working at Disney World when he meets Prince Charming (aka: Bucky Barnes, college kid from Brooklyn whose ass looks absolutely devastating in his Prince Charming slacks) and maybe starts to feel a little Disney magic in his heart.
These American Dreams (ain’t no white picket fences left for me) by kariye (oneshot |50,608 | E)
In which Bucky has a house, a dog, an herb garden, and a serious case of insomnia. Welcome to Havensport, Indiana (population 8,294), where Tom’s Neighborhood Grocer stays open all night, little old ladies call the car shop to get their refrigerators repaired, and the heat of summer days and the length of summer nights can make you think that this perfect world will last forever.
Communism was just a red herring by notallbees (oneshot |17,448 | M)
It’s the 90s, it’s summer break, and Bucky is staying with Steve for two months while his parents travel to India.
It’s shaping up to be the best summer ever until Steve’s mom makes things weird by telling them that they’re gay for each other. All of a sudden Steve is full of strange thoughts about his best friend, and Bucky will barely speak to him. All Steve wants is to make things right again.

Everything Magical by rooonil_waazlib (WIP |6,812 | E)
Steve’s just about to apologize when the girl elbows her brother again. “Ask him out, Bucky,” she says, still looking at Steve, not even pretending to whisper.
The man—Bucky—turns to gape at her. “Becca,” he hisses.
“What?” she asks, smirking. “You said you want to.” She winks at Steve. “Or you can ask him. He’ll say yes, I promise.” Steve’s heart pounds a little—should he?
• night owl: telling secrets to the stars, poems written at 3 AM, messy hair and sleepy smiles
• angel: sunlight making bare skin glow, the swoop of a dove’s wing, the warmth of a long hug
• forest nymph: flowers picked and placed in friends’ hair, faded pages of fairytale books, holding hands with everyone
• unicorn: smiling at strangers, warm sunshine after the rain, spilled glitter that’s too pretty to clean up
• siren: hand-written love letters slipped into bottles, seashell anklets, humming songs while lying in the tub
• fairy: the feel of moss on barefeet, whispering stories in the dark, soft giggles drifting through the wind
Person A: I can't take this anymore. Please take me out.
Person B: In the date kind of way or in the assassination kind of way?
Person A: Surprise me.
• river: once they love you, they are with you all the way. always reliable for coming to when in need of direction and encouragement. often empaths, and appreciate being listened to.
• ocean: feels each emotion incredibly deeply, whether they like it or not. very complex, and feels their best when in a creative and inspired headspace. are incredibly drawn to those whom they find to be vibrant, imaginative, and passionate.
• pond: calm souls who appreciate beauty in as many ways as possible. they feel that embracing the little things is more important than only focusing on the “bigger” things. is often shy and withdrawn, usually preferring to adore from afar.
• lake: tends to come across as relatively simple, but only because they like to keep their secrets close to their hearts. values emotional experience and closeness with their loved ones above all. when they really trust someone, it’s a special thing, and even more special when they decide to share with you the true depths of their soul.

Rating: Explicit Word Count: 75,561 Type: Non-Magic!AU, Western!AU
Summary: West Texas, 1861. “I’m unsure when we elected to hand the reigns of this operation over to a hophead felon and a bottom-tier bounty hunter.”
Warnings: Drug use/addiction, character death, graphic depictions of violence
Comments: Where did this glorious, epic fic come from?? I’m not usually one for Western AUs, but this author avoids the tacky romanticization of the West and instead grounds the fic in gritty realism. There’s no shying away from the drugs and violence that outlaw!remus and bounty hunter!sirius experience. Canon elements were so brilliantly mirrored with Riddle’s smuggling operation (Bellatrix was a favorite) and the suspicion surrounding a spy in their group. There’s also a certain satisfaction I get from reading a fic so well researched. I was so enveloped in this world from start to finish; I definitely think this fic needs more love.
ivy women - always the first to laugh and the first cry. can be cruel — a tongue sharp with thorns, mocking laughter, an envious gaze. can be unexpectedly kind - soft remarks of beauty and love, warm hugs, even warmer smiles. always trying to become a better person than she was the day before. love on her is as vibrant as the world is verdant after rain. blooming and fleeting.
marble women - a perfectly polished smile and ruthless ambition. seemingly coarse and untouchable — a geode’s facade. has turned her ribcage into a casket for her glass heart. never warm and sometimes merciless, but fiercely protective of the few she cares for. love in the form of a kiss to the corner of your lips poised but honest.
cloud women - soft hands that seem to be everywhere at once. on your shoulder, hip, thigh, chin, cheeks. she is gentle and sweet, but frustratingly naïve. convinced that the world will be as kind to her as she is to it. her habit of taking care of strays draws you to her - it feels as though she can take the loneliness out of the lost. a pure love that fades too fast, slipping between your fingers like it’s made of air.
lavender women - gentle eyes and fluttering lashes. carrying herself with such a natural grace it seems as though she is floating. has devoted herself to being something soft in a world that is not — a feathery touch with a strong embrace. she has known suffering and become kinder for it, has a desire to ensure no one will feel the same pains she has. she freely offers her love and her shoulder to those who need it.

Me as a fic writer: I better throw in some plot and other characters so the story isn’t too one dimensional
