Well, I can officially say that after 5 months and too many setbacks, Philosophy of a Knife will finally be updated with chapter 16. I'm very excited to share it with you all, and I already have plans for the next chapter, so it definitely will not take another half-year to update. On a side note, this year I will almost definitely pass half a million words logged on ao3, and that is very cool to me.

This chapter goes out to all the commenters on ch15 whose kinds words encouraged me to buckle down, as well as @loveless-beloved-must-be-loved who I randomly came across reccing it in a tumblr post out in the wild recently, which really helped me get back on track. I love all my readers!

Yohaji’s dead Seimei has me screaming internally at all times because he can be so many things but we’re not exactly sure what’s what yet????

Was he doomed by the narrative? Did he doom himself narratively due to his clairvoyance? Is he a divine eldritch horror? Is he a human eldritch horror that the divine wanted to get rid of? Is he all of that? Is he none of that? Was he lonely and hopeless about his own situation to the point he could only hope to vicariously live a semi-normal life through his descendant/reincarnation? Did he have no choice but to play out events so the people around him could have happier futures? Was he just always built different? Is this version of him really connected to kitsune? What exactly made him shed a tear in that one Ranmaru flashback? What is his curse doing on Douman? What really killed him?

How is he the Horror, the ghost of Christmas past, and the missed dead wife simultaneously at all times?

I need more brainrot for this guy!!!

always fucks me up how every major male SVSSS character barring liu qingge (dead for all of PIDW) and shen yuan (literal transmigrator) have some variation of airplane bro's personality, insecurity, and shitty coping mechanisms. like.

shen jiu!qingqiu lashing out, letting people assume terrible shit about him because it's easier than trying to clarify his intentions only for his actions and words to be misinterpreted anyway?

yue qingyuan being politely vacant, aimless and self-deprecative, believing himself a failure who deserves to be hated?

og!shang qinghua being a cannon fodder "cowardly traitor", cut off from protection and money and killed by his former liege?

mobei-jun having deeper set issues with trust and loyalty, especially from family members and personal servants?

tianlang-jun's naivete and emotional attachment leading indirectly to his being sealed under a mountain miserable and alone for years?

zhuzhi-lang's excessive degree of loyalty to people who show him sincere kindness, since most people find him ugly and unapproachable?

PIDW!luo binghe's emotional apathy and detachment after all he suffered; him being rewritten into an overpowered, intelligent, revenge-driven, manipulative man so good in bed he can force anyone to join his harem?

PIDW was originally a romanceless web novel driven by its unique fantasy setting and lore. it was stripped down of those elements to make way for cliche heterosexual porn tropes until it became an inconsistent male power fantasy harem novel that fickle readers-- whose money pay airplane's bills now that his parents both remarried and started new families, cutting off basically all money and contact with him-- would keep reading.

everything about PIDW (and SVSSS) reflects part of airplane. not only the characters' personalities and experiences, but the original story as a whole, considering how much of it (of himself) airplane ended up sacrificing and shuttering away to present a different image that would be more easily accepted.

A yu-gi-oh Duel monsters fancomic by megaera. This comic is meant to be directly after my previously posted fancomic! Post Dark side of Dimensions movie. Page 1. The first panel shows Mokuba leaning toward Yugi at his desk saying, "Yugi, if you really want to get back at my brother.." Next he's shown whispering in Yugi's ear as Yugi looks slightly surprised at whatever he may be saying. The third panel shows the next day Mokuba is in Seto Kaiba's office standing by his desk announcing, "ahem- Yugi is here with some of his old spherium sketches." Seto, typing at his desk looks slightly confused and responds, "Those should just be scanned." Unsure why Yugi would feel the need to physically bring them. He shuts his laptop turning away in his chair and closing his eyes, sighing, saying, "Well send him in." Mokuba can hardly hide his smile behind his tablet.

Page 2. Off panel the door opens and shuts with a click. Yugi is off screen greeting by saying, "Kaiba-kun!" Kaiba is still turned away eyes closed simply stating, "Yugi." in response. Yugi approaches and leans down to place his sketches on Kaiba's desk. We can barely see non-spikey, shoulder length black hair come into frame as he does so saying, "Here's some of my early spherium ideas!" Kaiba sighs. He opens his eyes and starts reprimanding him slightly, "Yugi, I thought I said to ema-AAAA-il- er uh..." He looks shocked as he sees Yugi standing there with his hair totally straight, some locks still trying to stand up, in a half up half down ponytail.

Page 3. Yugi looks concerned asking, "Everything ok? Sorry, I prefer to get my ideas out on paper." Kaiba Quickly tries to save face by clearing his throat and leaning forward on his desk, covering half his face with his connected hands saying, "N-no- Er- Yes. But why the... hair?" Mokuba tries to stifle a laugh behind his tablet. Yugi leans forward, grinning saying, "Oh! I really considered what you said about dressing appropriately. Don't want to distract any employees." Kaiba leans his face more into his hands in a slightly defeated motion replying, "I-I see... So that talk got through to you..." Yugi responds promptly, "Yep!"

Page 4. Kaiba tries to distract himself by opening his laptop again to get back to work saying, "Thank you, that will be all. I will look at these later." Yugi happily replies, "Alright! See you, Kaiba-kun!" Mokuba silently laughs in the background. The later half of the page shows how the rest of the morning went for Kaiba as he goes from slowly typing at his laptop, to pacing his desk, to finally giving in, leaning defeated over his desk as he presses a button saying, "Isono." a voice responding from his desk asks, "Sir?"

Page 5. After lunch, Yugi returns to the building puzzled thinking, "My desk...?" He approaches to see it surrounded by 3 of his coworkers. One notices him stammering, "A-ah- Yugi.." "Hey," he responds curiously, "Whats going on?" One of his coworkers asks, "uhhh do you have a hairdresser friend?" Yugi immediately questions, "Huh??" Next we see the desk in question, a kaiba corp box that is filled with 2 got2b glued hair spray cans, a teaser comb, and a wide tooth comb. "There's a note" a coworker explains as they clear the area to get back top work. Yugi looks on puzzled thinking, "...wait.. no way..."

Page 6. Yugi opens the note to see a kaiba corp watermarked paper with one simple sentence written, "Put it back." signed S.K. Yugi stares at it for a moment in awe. Before exploding in laughter, causing some of his nearby coworkers to jolt in surprise. After he steadies himself he smiles looking at his hair, contemplating something.

Page 7. This page shows Kaiba being approached by Yugi that evening. Yugi holds the box full of hair styling accessories and begins to explain, "So... Uh, these aren't necessary." Kaiba, arms folded unsure simply responds, "O-oh. ..." Yugi goes on to say, "I straightened my hair for this." Kaiba replies, "What." A sequence of images showing Yugi with his hair down first holding a wet towel, dampening his hair with it, blow drying his hair, it floofs up, nearly looking like his usual hair until he brushes it slightly and he confidently gives Kaiba a thumbs up. His hair back to normal. Kaiba is in utter shock, speechless as he wonders to himself, "what. how. why."

Page 8. Yugi places the towel and hair dryer onto a table nearby looking up at Kaiba stating, "Oh! Also, no one else knows this. Not even Jounouchi or Anzu." Kaiba stares at him stunned asking again, "What." Yugi smiles and shrugs saying, " They all think Grandpa styles his hair too." Kaiba looks unsure at this information questioning, "Then why show this to me? You must have some angle..." Yugi laughs into his hand blushing slightly, "Well obviously-" Then his face goes dark and steely saying, "Because not even Mokuba would believe you if you told him." adding that Mokuba actually asked him to "keep his hair down"

Page 9. Kaiba looks on stunned. Yugi laughs saying, "Kidding! Alright I'm heading home! See ya, Kaiba-kun!" HE smiles and waves as he backs toward the door. Leaving the used towel folded on the table before leaving. Kaiba stays stoic and staring as the door clicks after Yugi has left. Then he squats to the floor head in hands. He looks up, blushing from behind his hands with an angry but flustered expression thinking, "Curse you, Yugi..."

Bonus Page 10. Late at night the Kaiba brothers are in Seto's office making up for lost time throughout the day. Mokuba looks silently at Seto as he works. "You seem like you're in a good mood." Mokuba says breaking the silence. Seto jumps at his observation. He steadies himself, closing his eyes and calmly saying it's nothing special continuing to explain himself, "Well- We're nearly done here. Of course I'm pleased about steady progress. Mokuba looks entirely confused by this change in attitude and says, "Really...? It's just that earlier you... eh, nevermind." Seto continues his work silently, a small ammount of blush as he remembers Yugi's words earlier that day, "Oh! Also, no one else knows this. Not even Jounouchi or Anzu."

I do think the fandom has the unfortunate habit of babifying Shang Qinghua, due to both shipping and crocodile tears. I personally like the fact he’s a stone cold shark.

This guy set up an event so deadly it killed a significant number of teenagers— some from his own peak that he trained personally— without any visible trace of remorse. SQQ spent years wallowing in the guilt of throwing his little sheep into the abyss, which he knew he would survive. Meanwhile SQH did that and an unknown amount of other shit without batting an eyelid. That man would sell you out for pocket change.

No wonder Mobei Jun thinks he’s hot. Murdering someone in cold blood must be the demonic equivalent of a sexy hair flip.
