all the kisses š
In all seriousness though---
Korra got a ton---and I mean a TON---of hate, for daring to be a headstrong, non-genderconforming woman of color. So forgive me if I don't react well to "korrasami doesn't deserve it"
Korra already fought through enough misogyny and racism while it was actively airing. She already got enough criticism for not being the "target audience" of 8-12 age males who buy action figures. She already got enough criticism for having flaws as a woman, for not "acting ladylike". She already got enough criticism for not being white or white passing in a show that has ZERO white characters. So when you come at korrasami fans with "they don't deserve it"? Don't be surprised when korrasami fans look at it with a lens of suspicion, because korrasami already fought through the criticism, already fought through being stuck in the "dead slot" air time in nickelodeon (which they were moved to in season three, when the show runners actively started hinting at a wlw ship), already fought through being pulled off air and onto online viewing only, in 2014, for those of you who are a bit young. (Obergefell vs Hodges, the Supreme Court case which legalized gay marriage nationwide in the US, happen on June 26, 2016). "They only held hands in the finale" because that's all they could get away with at the time. They were the FIRST. Bubbeline came later. Rupphire came later. Catradora came later. There are still no notable mlm ships in children's media, so the work ISN'T done. Korrasami fans "screech and yell" at you for not understanding because you accuse them of "queerbaiting" without understanding that they were the FIRST in their time to OPENLY hint at being gay on a a children's television network. In a time, for most intents and purposes in the US, being gay was still ILLEGAL.
And by the way? The Owl House, a recent, animatec children's show on Disney, was recently canceled for not being "the Disney brand". It features a bisexual woman of color (in an EXPLICITLY wlw relationship) as the main character, not unsimilar to Korra. Misogyny is not dead. Homophobia is not dead. Know your history, and know the work isn't done.
Still canāt believe the Phandom gaslit ourselves into thinking so much that is headcanon is canon.
Ghost King Danny isnāt a thing, Wes Weston doesnāt exist, Ghost Cores are debatable, Red Huntress isnāt Valerieās ghost hunter name, Bones is not Youngbloodās parrotās name. Etc.
It just goes to show how powerful, creative and influential one personās idea has spread amongst the community, many times, and I love that for us.

what if blackjack in the pjo show was voiced by Ryan Reynolds
Something I donāt think enough people recognize when it comes to making shows more diverse, there is so much going on behind the scene that you literally canātĀ ājust add them.āĀ
Alex Hirsch had to wait until the end of Gravity Falls to show that Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland were in love so that way the show didnāt get prematurely cancelled. And even still, that was censored in other countries.Ā
________
The Owl House has a bisexual afro Latina protagonist that falls in love with a white lesbian. They kiss several times on screen and say āmy awesome girlfriend.ā It also has Disneyās first nonbinary character (Raine Whispers), their bisexual love interest (Eda Clawthorne), and an aro/ace woman (Lilith Clawthorne). However, because like five people said that TOH wasnāt theĀ āDisney brandā the show is prematurely cancelled. So even with everything that TOH did, it only won battle but lost the war.Ā
________
The art crew for Encanto had to fight to make Luisa buff. And when they were finally able to make her buff, Disney didnāt make as much Luisa merchandise because they thought little girls would want Mirabel or Isabelaās since theyāre moreĀ āfeminine.ā (I think the same thing happened with Namaari when RATLD came out but Iām not sure. So donāt quote me on that.)
*Also, Luisa out preformed. So thatās a win.Ā
________
Bubblegum and Marceline couldnāt kiss until the series finale of Adventure Time because it wouldāve been cancelled. So throughout the entire series, the crew always just had to imply undertones about their past. Since HBO produced Obsidian, they were able to kiss on screen.
________
Korra and Asamiās relationship had to tempt down so that way Nick could continue airing the show and they werenāt allowed to kiss until the comics.Ā
________
Turning Red got so much unwarranted criticism because not only did Meiās mom sayĀ āpadsā but she showed them on screen. (Iāve said it before and Iāll say it again, if that made you uncomfortable, thatās a sign that we need to do this more and not less.)
________
Some countries marked She Ra as 18+ because Catra and Adora kissed on screen. (Once again, Iām not sure if this completely true but Nate Stevenson had to fight to actually show them kissing on screen instead of a fade to white.)
________
Steven Universe is the gayest show Iāve ever seen in my life which was both good and bad. It was good for obvious reasons. Example being that it was the first show that introduced to me nonbinary people in a way that wasnātĀ āhaha, look, she uses they/them pronouns. Sheās so funny and quirky.āĀ
And itās bad because it put a target on itās back. SU has been censored so much that itās honestly a miracle that we got an ending. And in most of the countries that censored SU, they usually portray Ruby as a man. So I canāt imagine how bad the censors were when the wedding happened and Ruby wore a dress and Sapphire wore a suit.Ā
________
Also, you have to remember the outdated idea that gay/trans topics areĀ ātoo matureā for kids to handle (thereās an episode of Adam Ruins Everything that talks about this). So itās easier for shows with an older audience (like Arcane) to have queer/trans rep.
Not to mention, if you ever go on Insiderās website to look at the queer/trans characters in cartoons [here], most of the characters are revealed to be queer only online and not in the actual show.
________
All of this BS because God forbid that kids find out that other people exist.Ā
Representation is important but please, just be aware of the actually struggles that go on that you donāt see and be thankful that this is where we are now because even though it might seem like it at times remember that this is actual progress. We need to keep pushing studios to do more. Iām sure that thereās millions of untold stories that would be made if not for this prejudice.Ā
I see a lot of posts about how Percy isn't the point of the story in pjo and the story is about the Thalia-Luke-Annabeth narrative and I do agree to a great extent but I do also think it needs to be said the reason why percy is the narrator and not one of them is because he is the cycle-breaker - without him it would have stayed a tragedy but because of him it changed. This is most obvious in how he rejects immortality and instead demands greater support for half-bloods, obviously, but also he trusted annabeth enough to give Luke the knife! he disliked the gods enough to understand Luke even if he didn't agree with his methods and I think that empathy is so so crucial actually! The T-L-A story is built like a mythological tragedy, Percy exists to break the cycle of the story, he's the hero that ends happily.
