no but like... the thing about pierre and charles knowing each other by heart... yeah. yeah.
like we've seen it mentioned that charles' dad used to bring gifts for pierre when he was on the podium in karting races, and that now pierre's parents promise charles has a family with them no matter what. they used to go on vacations together as kids and pierre used to basically live with charles when they were karting in the south of france and even as recent as 2019 they've mentioned trying to have a holiday together every year even since joining F1.
and how charles saw pierre suffering in 2019 but we still saw them supporting another seemingly every weekend when even other well respected drivers took opportunities to dunk on pierre's shortcomings. how charles' friendship and support didn't falter even when pierre got demoted despite everyone else treating that situation so cautiously. how in brazil he crashed out in a stupid and embarrassing incident but still showed up for pierre. made a post for him to congratulate him on his first podium even though he's never done the same for anyone else. and same in monza even though we know he hit the wall hard enough to need medical checks but he embraced pierre hard enough to push him back a little. how in baku he sped up in his cooldown lap to wave at pierre and nearly ran through parc ferme to congratulate him even though he himself just lost out on that podium.
and then there's the way they interact. pierre saying "in 8 years, teammates again?" to charles bringing up their karting days. pierre, without hesitation, associating charles with the word friend. saying "me and charles saying basically the same thing? that's not surprising," in reference to their team radios in 2019. pierre saying he would pick charles to take with him on a desert island because he'd know he would have fun. how he'd pick charles as his teammate over world champion idols.
and then there's charles crediting one of his best qualifying performances in 2020 to watching pierre's onboards and learning from him. charles telling the media he would love to have pierre as his ferrari teammate even though at the time everyone knew there was basically zero chance of that happening. he praised pierre as the most impressive last year on more than one occasion. charles fulfilling on a not so sure promise to pierre that he'd win in spa in 2019 for anthoine, and never once even implying to the media that maybe it's strange that a fellow competitor would ask for that.
they continue to speak well of each other even though more often than not they've been in direct contention with each other across several teams. today most of us were sweating, afraid they'd take each other out and then both of them got out and gushed about how fun it was.
so yeah. it really is fair to say they do know each other by heart.
it is very important to learn how to do cpr and learn first aid. i did it and even though it can be scary, it can save lives. honestly if you can, do it
I wonder if Mclaren have some kind of sports psychologist for Norris 😭 I don't know if you saw his interviews but basically the journalist was asking him what went wrong and he pointed at himself and just said he isn't good enough, he was also asked what he would do to reset for tomorrow and he said he'd go to sleep. At first last year it wasn't really anything, but this happens every time and it makes you wonder if his head is really in it. He and Charles have this common trait of self-deprecation in interviews when they make mistakes, but Charles just moves on from it and does better.
Honestly I really do think Norris fans have it worse than Leclerc fans. Even if our team has its struggles operationally as well as in the engineering department I look forward to race weekends just to see Charles perform, and see him perform well. It's exciting to see him extract 100% of the machinery and see the things he can do in a subpar car, so you're reassured that by the time comes when Ferrari give him the team and the car, he can do it. In the meantime you're reassured that the issue isn't lying in the cockpit.
But what do you do when the issue does lie in the cockpit...
Well, the key difference between Lando and Charles is that Charles has that inherent belief in himself, and Lando doesn't seem to.
So when Charles criticises himself, he does that in a way to learn, and to responsibility. He very rarely, if ever, makes the same mistake twice. His criticism tends to be a fairly objective and clinical analysis of what went wrong (even if he sometimes used to take responsibility for Ferrari's mistakes rather than his), and how to go forward from this.
Lando, however, doesn't seem to have the same kind of clinical analysis and perspective on himself and his driving. A lot of his comments seem to be made in order to gather sympathy from his fans ("he's just doing his best! he's trying so hard, leave him alone!"). And I do think he believes in a lot of them, too, and no, I don't think McLaren has ever addressed this issue properly. We should never forget that they're the real evil here.
The difference here, again, is that Charles and Max are obsessed with racing to a degree that Lando simply isn't. Look at Charles' early quotes, even. If someone is going to fight for the championship, it's not going to be his teammate. It's going to be him. As you say, with Charles you know he's always going to do his best, and get what he can out of the car.
Okay, I might be pulling this out of my ass but since that finals match was in Evermore that means the foxes should have been wearing their white away jerseys. Which means: the final match was a game of chess.
Not only are they wearing white, but they have first serve (Dan won the coin toss), and near the end the Foxes' king (Neil, because this is a battle between Riko and Neil) changes positions with the tower (Matt, a defenseman that towers over most people) creating the illusion of a castling.
And right there at the end, Riko attempts to kill Neil because they're in front of each other, but that's not how kings work. In the time it takes him to take that step, Andrew closes the gap and strikes. Check mate.
Switching between these every day
apparently they were slandering charles on the sky stream today
I don’t want to talk about this again, but Carlos feels like the abusive boyfriend who gaslights everyone into thinking you’re crazy, that something’s wrong with you, and that he’s perfect. His mind games and manipulation are on point.
What do you mean Charles beats him, but people still think they’re equals?
What do you mean every time Charles wins, Carlos convinces everyone he helped him, even though it’s the other way around?
What do you mean Carlos disrespects team orders, his family shits on Charles, but somehow *Charles* is the disrespectful one?
What do you mean Carlos whines on the radio so pathetically, but Charles is the one called a crybaby?
Make it make sense.
They abandoned you and I collected you like a treasure
