I mean it affectionately bc I love her and her weirdness. I am glad that they toned down the yan stuff with Kotori bc it would have been icky but I do have a chuckle from time to time whenever that sort of characterization has a chance to flourish in side content I mean Emitsun did call her a yandere during the very first KotoHonoUmi livestream and there was that All Stars bit where some of the Nijigasaki girls were convinced Kotori killed Honoka. Which was hilariously stupid. and the iconic “I've never fired a gun before. This could get addictive!” which is a canon line in LLSIF but if they went all-in on writing her as a yandere that would have been such an ick I am glad they did not do that. but I do believe Umi is the only character of the group that can perfectly counter some of Kotori's intensity. It's hilarious. like immovable object vs unstoppable force levels of ridiculousness in ship dynamics they balance each other so well I wish we got more canon content of them Kotori's passion helps push Umi to try things that she otherwise would have been hesitant to do Umi's realistic thinking keeps Kotori in check when she starts going “off the rails” I need to finish my KotoUmi fics... they'll be on my ao3 when done
