ok I know it’s been a while but we’re back at it again with the Sally and Esperanza au (inspired by @poppitron360)

basically if you missed the first one, Leo and Esperanza move to New York, Esperanza meets Sally and they fall in love 🥰 when Leo and Percy are eight and nine respectively, Gaea swallows them up, they go to CHB, Leo gets claimed instantly, Percy has to wait until 3 years later when he gets the TLT quest and saves his moms from the underworld

ANYWAYS! What would HoO look like in this AU?

The first thing I’d change would be who gets the Hera Swap Treatment™️. And ALSO! Who would be in the Seven in general. I think, instead of Percy (to enforce the familial tragedy lol make him suffer), Reyna would be in the Seven. So in this AU, Leo and Reyna get swapped.

So the Lost Hero trio would be Reyna, who wakes up on this unfamiliar bus with no clue where she is but a gut feeling something is wrong. Annabeth, who is searching undercover for her boyfriend’s brother (AKA her partner in crime). And Piper, who also has no clue what’s going on but is really bummed that the people she thought were her best friends don’t seem to know her anymore.

Really interesting opportunity to discuss Reyna’s connection to Rome, since Bellona doesn’t have a Greek equivalent. Who would she be claimed by? How would she fit in? When they hold campfires, does she feel a distinct sense of camaraderie that she’s longed for for so long?

Also, concept: Reyna, Annabeth, and Piper stop by the Jackson-Valdez household before making their way to California. Percy’s just like “sure, you can crash for tonight. Gods know you’ll need the rest (and my mom’s special blue cookies for good luck)”. But Piper’s just like “what HAPPENED? Why is this apartment so SAD?” Like the happiness has just been sucked out. Esperanza isn’t even there, she’s at the garage, pretending like her son is at home. Sally is looking through baby photos and stress writing and doing a million different things because maybe by the time she actually thinks about her son he’ll be in her arms again.

The Son of Neptune (or Son of Vulcan, in this case) trio would be Leo, Jason, and Hazel I think because I have a distinct image of Hazel and Jason having awkward cousin vibes. Like, “their older siblings play Mario kart together on Christmas so they’re friends only because of proximity” cousins. And Leo’s over here doing horribly crooked cartwheels to lighten the mood.

I have Thoughts about Son of Vulcan in this AU omg. So many Thoughts. Jason and Hazel finally getting each other when they kill Alcyoneus together, while Leo is fighting for his life to free Thanatos and kill all these freaky-deaky monsters. Jason and Hazel freaking the fuck out when Leo chugs gorgon blood like it’s whiskey. Jason and Leo finding Hazel standing on a rock surrounded by cereal babies. Hazel side eying Leo wondering if he’s her old crush from grade school back in the forties. Just. Son of Vulcan trio.

Another thing, I think these two books should happen at the same time because I think it’d be interesting to let both of the swapped heroes integrate more. Like, give me fearless leader Reyna whipping her (tween) troops into shape, but Camp Half-Blood just being like “dam this lady’s super cool but she needs to chill the FUCK out. stop training my eight year old brother in sword fighting he’s gonna kill me the next time I have to wake him up early”. Give me an unconfident Leo learning to be a leader after being in his brother’s shadow.

Nico having to slap some sense into Jason so Frank could save the day is underappreciated

Concept: Leo taking extra care of the Argo II because the original Jason died on the Argo.

Leo knowing the prophecy hangs over both of their heads. Leo who already knows he’s tempting fate with the name. And being even more careful with the upkeep.

Taking the others remarks about it in stride that he cares about it more then them.

All he can think about how the original Jason died crushed by the rotting mast of his ship.

And that that he won’t let his Jason die because of him.

i love this and need at least a 400k word fic where this happens and they make it out safely right now thanks

Concept: Jason and Leo are the ones to fall into Tartarus.

To storm or fire they both will fall.

Jason’s trying so hard, fighting against the pull of Tartarus to fly them to the ship. But Jason’s already tired and Tartarus is so much stronger then him.

Leo’s terrified but smiles anyway and tells Jason it’s okay. Jason releases his power and goes limp in his arms.

He tells Percy to keep an eye on everyone as they both plummet.

Leo using his fire to light a way and keeping them both warm. He makes a makeshift shelter and is relieved when his tool belt has some first aid supplies.

His jokes become more and more flat the longer they’re down there.

But Jason laughs every time.

Jason falls back on what he learned in the Wolf House. He patrols the area and his sword is covered with dust. He doesn’t let go of his sword even when there’s no monsters around.

There’s a tiredness that hangs over him but Jason can’t sleep. Leo wants to say something but he can’t either. Sometimes he thinks he’s weighing Jason down.

And then Jason wraps his arms around him and in a heartbreaking whisper says I’m glad I have you.

Leo goes to the Phlegethon to heal them both. It does the job but has the unintended effect of bringing back Jason’s memories. It’s a relief but there’s a new kind of pain that comes with the Romans betrayal.

Leo tries to apologise for that but Jason won’t let him.

It also erases the false memories Hera gave them both. And they resolve to make new ones when they get out.

“You know I’d kill for one of your tacos right now.”

“Yeah? Let me sleep for a millennia and I’ll make you one.”

Also the rest of the seven are trying to figure out how to fly the ship and do all the things they need.

And realising huh maybe we shouldn’t have given Leo so much shit.

ravenclaw barty who gave up on trying to please his father and slowly started surrounding himself with slytherins. he was just so bored with his fellow ravenclaws and felt like he belonged elsewhere.

it got to the point where the slytherins all made the joint decision of giving him their spare uniforms so he could be apart of the silver and green house instead. he even has a bed in the slytherin boys dorm shared with evan and regulus. by the end of 5th year, nobody could even fathom the idea that barty crouch junior could ever belong to a hogwarts house that wasnt slytherin.

Okay but Evan with selective mutism, is this a thing people hc? Like as a kid he'd go everywhere with Pandora, who learned how to tell what he wanted to say from the look in his eyes. Edit: you have a duty to more than just love. Think about your duty to the law. To your morals. To the general public. Your duty will not always be to your loved ones.

Think about what you would choose to do if someone you loved had committed some terrible crime and you had the choice to keep quiet about it to keep them safe or to speak out about it (to help the victim of the crime, to prevent more victims in the future, to uphold the law, for your own morals, etc.). Your choice shows the difference between love and duty.

barty who grew up being trilingual (Spanish, Italian and English), but has a spanish accent because his father was rarely home and his mother would teach him the language almost every day.

his father isn’t too pleased with this though and forces italian on him, which he quickly picks up but now his english has both languages’s accents, which makes it nearly impossible for anybody he meets to understand him.

it took regulus, evan, pandora and dorcas a hot month to be able to hear him correctly, it doesn’t help that he switches languages mid sentence without noticing it though. And his poor teachers constantly have to ask him to translate his writing because its also a mix of all three

he used to hate speaking, because of how much he struggled with which words were correct, until he noticed evan would constantly do it with his french, and realizing he loved when evan would switch up made him feel a little better about his own speech.

barty is the biggest astrophysics nerd. like he can and will talk for hours and hours about black holes, and the history and expansion of the universe, and dark energy, and einstein's cosmological theories, and t=0, and the formation of galaxies, and and and

Election day: misery, stress, hair-pulling, at least for Americans (and a lot of other people around the world affected by our politics!) So I thought I'd post a distraction; I hope it helps and doesn't annoy!

A while ago I posted the beginning of a letter from Kit to Ty, created for a Kickstarter backer. Here's the full text:

A letter from Kit to Ty, never sent.

Ty, Ty, Ty.

Your name looks strange written out like that. Like an abbreviation. But Tiberius would be so formal. I never think of you that way. Or, I suppose I should say, I never thought of you that way. Tenses matter in these situations, I guess.

It’s late, past midnight, and I’m sitting on the windowsill in my bedroom at Cirenworth. Jem and Tessa gave me one of the best rooms. Of course they did. It has a view out over the gardens. Sometimes I see the ghost of a dog there, a golden retriever I’m pretty sure, running in and out of the flowerbeds. He seems like a pretty happy ghost. I think about how much you like animals and how much they love you, because of course they do. But it’s too late; this dog passed away a long time ago. You probably couldn’t even see him. It’s too late for a lot of things, now.  

I’m still mad at you, and I don’t feel good about that. Maybe if I could forget, I could forgive. But I can’t forget that night you brought Livvy back. I’ll suddenly remember even when I’m thinking about something else. I’ll be in the middle of helping Tessa in the garden and suddenly I’ll turn around and I’m back in Idris. 

I remember I told you I loved you. I remember I told you I would help you, but not if you raised Livvy from the dead. Not if you did necromancy. But you wanted that more than you wanted me.

And I understand that. I’m not angry about that. Here’s what I’m angry about: when you brought Livvy back, you changed yourself. You made yourself a different person than the one I loved. I don’t know the person you are now. You took yourself away from me. I can’t forgive that. And you made me someone who has to keep a secret I never wanted to keep. I was raised by someone who had so many awful secrets, and when I started my life as a Shadowhunter I wanted to do it openly, and honestly. But now I’m just someone else with secrets I can never tell. Just like my dad.

It makes me angry, so angry. I want to yell at you. I wish you were here so I could yell at you.

Jem's parents' love story is so much funnier if you consider that Jonah and Wenyu were born at the start of the first opium war and likely met during the second, being like 18 and 17 when it started. Imagine being a stoic, disciplined warrior princess working at imperial court and one day the evil british enemy shows up and you're ready to annihilate him except he is a sappy romantic fool and tries to serenade you. I know my girl was befuddled. Invented enemies to lovers honestly

sizzy is the tsc couple that matches each other's freak. izzy watches star wars marathons all the time, and simon became a shadowhunter mostly bc of her

jace was so sure from the jump that izzy would get bored of simon. of course she would. that's the way izzy operated right? date a boy until he stopped being interesting. move on. izzy was too interesting for any boy anyway, and some ridiculous mundane? please. give her two weeks max.

funny, though, how that .. never happened. izzy never got bored. but it was never about getting bored. not really. even if that's what she told her brothers, even if that's what she told herself. the boredom came not because there wasn't more to uncover but because she refused to get close enough to see the more. the things that make a man interesting, that make him tick. she refused to let her own more be seen too, but all the interesting stuff is already on the outside right? a man could never get bored of isabelle lightwood. so she has to tire of them. otherwise she risks getting too close. otherwise she risks opening her heart.

and simon.. simon just kept surprising her. the thing about someone who is so unassuming to begin with is that they have the tendency to keep proving you wrong. and simon doesn't hide anything either. he shoots a skylight. he bites a vampire. hell, he becomes a vampire! he's funny and he's kind and he pays attention. he's not like the guys izzy has dated because they wear their interesting on the outside. they make it possible for izzy not to have to dig any deeper. but simon is just an open book that once izzy flipped the first page she found she couldn't manage to look up from.

izzy was never going to get bored of simon. no matter what jace said. no matter what izzy definitely thought at the beginning as well. because how could she? he's simon.
