It becomes a repeat occasion. The mysterious video taker shows up in a villains lair, lays a trap of some kind, takes of video of them falling into it, and uploads it.

Captain Cold in a bathrobe shuffles along and slips on a patch of ice that definitely wasn't there before. All of his cursing is beeped out, so the next thirty seconds of video is one very long beep.

Lex Luthor walks through a door and get a bucket of glue dumped on his head. When he goes to open the bathroom door to clean up, a bucket of Superman red and blue glitter dumps on him. The ensuing tantrum goes viral.

The filmer has a laser pointer. Cheetah is filmed batting at it idly before going full cat and chasing it around the room.

The internet holds its breath for the next video. The Justice League holds it breath because HOW IS THIS PERSON NOT DEAD YET. (Jokes on them, Danny is dead already.)

Fear vs Fear

Danny was doing homework when Fright knight came to him.

FK: I would like your permission to go out on a Quest.

DP: Why are you asking me?

FK: You are the Guardian of the portal, a keeper of balance, and may be the next ghost king. So i ask your leave.

DP: What is this quest?

FK: It has come to my attention that there is a energy entity out in the stars who claims to be the emotional embodiment of fear and is powering this "Sinestro Corps" to do heinious deeds in the name of fear and terror. I seek to eliminate this corps and give this "Parallax" a beating and a lesson in true fear.

DP: Parallax sounds like a pharmaceutical drug or a laxative.

FK: Fear work well as a laxative. Your friend Tucker knows this very well.

DP: I thought you were the embodiment of fear?

FK: I AM.

DP: OK permission uh granted i guess.

Fright Knight bows then turns to go but is interrupted.

DP: oh and Fright knight?

FK: Hmm?

DP: win.

FK: of course.

I read something to this effect once. Sobbing in my bed at three AM, because despite it being an AU, it didn't change. The tragedy was not averted. Despite their best efforts, NOTHING CHANGED.

"No," He says with a fire in his eyes, teeth bared in a snarl, "You people aren't taking my kid again,"

"This is the first time we've attempted the ritual," the head of the order protests, "You are mistaken,"

"No," the man says again, almost spits it out like it's covered in acid, "It may not have been you that took him. Probably ain't even the same world that he already saved. And you know what happened? He did it,"

Head Mage Pofinerus smiles, and steps further into the jaws of a lion. "Then it must work! He is already a hero, he can save us. He returned to you a hero-"

"He returned to me covered in blood!" The man roars.

He was called John, short for Johnathan. A normal name, for a normal man, who lived a content life with his son, who on holidays and every other summer lived with his mother. His son was the light of his life.

His son stepped out the door one day with a smile.

His son knocked on the door one day, like he didn't have the right to be there anymore.

His son woke up screaming some nights, and would cry out horrors John didn't understand, but wished he could if only for his son.

His son stared out the window some nights, and asked John to remind him the name of the constellations because he had forgotten their names in his time away.

So, so long away.

His son.

His child.

His baby boy, whose voice had only just begun to crack when he stepped out the door, and who knocked on the door with dead eyes.

"No," John said again, perfectly enunciating the word in a way he hadn't seen his high school theatre class, "You don't get to have my son. You don't get to hurt him anymore. I can't fight the monsters underneath his bed," John pumped the shotgun and leveled it at the robed creep in front of him, "But I can sure as hell fight you."

An order of magicians attempts to summon a child hero with a pure heart to save their world from evil forces. They instead get his 40-something-year old dad, with a shotgun.

Danny had kept many secrets from his family over the years. He kept his history as an ex-assassin secret, the fact that he had a twin a secret, the fact that he had died (well half died), and he kept that he was technically king of all ghosts a secret too. He was gearing up to tell his parents about everything he was and this trip to Gotham that they were planning.

There was a science convention that his parents were invited too. Little did they know a group of cultists were planning on kidnapping his family as a sacrifice to the ghost king, they needed 5 and they figured the Fentons would be good, a family of ghost hunters getting sacrificed to the king? They needed a 5th so they also kidnapped a Damian Wayne.

now all 5 of them are in a room, Danny doesn’t even know what’ll happen when the summoning doesn’t work and he knows it won’t seeing as you can’t summon the king into a room he’s already in.

ok i think what gets me about the kind of post that's like '[children's media] has child soldiers, where are their parents!!' is that those stories really and truly aren't for people who'll think about that, they're for the people the children's age, who don't, for the most part, want to be kept safe or told they're too young to participate in the world, they want to be given a sword
