it’s almost that time of the year :)
And for Danny he could be
1: Suspiciously eyeing Jason. Why is this ghost/halfa/liminal dating his teacher? Is it a plot to get to him? Spectra tried being an employee, maybe the new plan to get close and hurt people is to date an employee. Well not on his watch! This 'Jason' guy is going to be so closely watched, Danny will learn his every secret. Every. Single. One. No one hurts his class + teacher!
2: Mr. Lancer is dating a ghost/liminal/halfa? Mr. Lancer protects them all from the anti-ecto acts? Does that mean Mr. Lancer and Jason could accept him? Jason just pulled a gun on a GIW agent. Yeah, could you sign right here? No, this isn't an adoption form, what are you talking about.
Either Jason coaxes Danny in like a feral cat, or Danny 'Batman Adoption Bait' Fenton is doing his level best to get adopted, despite Jason's confusion (and deep desire to never let his siblings know).
Jason doesn’t want to bring Lancer anywhere near his nightlife and Lancer is perfectly fine with that. Lancer manages to convince Jason into some martial arts and combat training to defend his students if need be. It’s pretty concerning how often he has to use said training.
Duke, choking on his own spit: Wh- are those-?
Danny: Magic the Gathering cards? Yeah, I'm helping Constantine build his deck!
Constantine, entirely unwilling to ask questions or dispute this being of immense power: Yeah. It'll go great with my water deck.
Duke:...Sure. Yeah, okay.
*Three Weeks Later*
Duke: Hah! Take that!
Constantine: You and your stupid light deck. But I guess you didn't expect this!
Bruce:...Why is Constantine in our living room?
Danny, currently scorekeeper and going to play whoever wins: We're playing a game. Constantine's losing right now.
Constantine: I am not!
Duke and Danny: You are.
In every (most) fics. Danny figures out the batfams identities, via Jason and his being ead aftereffects or just figuring out, which is cool and all. But what if he didn't.
Like what if Danny got adopted by the Waynes and just didn't realize how weird they were and vigilante like they were, he was just obvious to it. Insane amounts of obviousness. It could go one of two ways. Him genuinely not realizing.
Danny: hey, you look a lot like someone i know *suspicious eye squint* Nightwing: Ehm, do I? most be some good-looking person, *nervous laughter* Danny: Hmmm *Shrugs* ah well, must a freaky coincidence. Nightwing: Ha, ha...Yeah...that's it. Or denial. Him not wanting to have any semblance of a normal life be destroyed to denies it desperately. Tim: Look Danny, there's something you gotta know *pulls out red robin suit for proof* Danny: Oh, cool cosplay! looks almost like the real thing. Tim: What? No, it's- Danny: *grabs Tim by the shirt* It's not the real thing because this is a totally normal family, right? This totally normal family who has no deep dark secrets, who has no portal to the afterlife in the basement, right? Tim: eh, right.
Dan: Oi, gimme that goblin.
Bruce: I'm sorry?
Dan: About yhea high, bites people for fun, craves chaos?
Bruce: I'm afraid you're going to have to be more specific.
Ellie wanted to travel more, she wanted to see other worlds, Dan was sent with her to lessen her chaos babysit.
Now he’s on a hunt because he looked away for two seconds to deck some hulking creep and now Ellie is missing.

Bruce wanted one normal day, it was a wish he desperately held onto even while knowing it would never be granted.
There was a massive Arkham/Blackgate breakout while he and most of his children were all busy as their unmasked selves at a charity event.
He…may have grabbed a black hair, blue eyed child that wasn’t his while in his “Brucie Wayne” panic.
And then there was the issue of the man who punched Bane hard enough to send him flying, was he a meta? Was he a part of the breakout.?
—
Or: Dan and Ellie visit Gotham, the Batclan unintentionally kidnaps Ellie, Dan punches Bane into next week, and more chaos ensues.
What if he was still the school janitor the entire time. You can't link him to anything. Oh, a man with black hair and blue eyes did it? How do you know Bruce Wayne didn't decide to snap? Oh you don't? Then I will resume cleaning, thank you and goodbye.
Danny decided to be a janitor at Gotham's private school. Mostly because he wanted to annoy the students by making them think that he was just a poor tired man and later have a dramatic revelation about him being a retired hero (he watched too much Spiderman), well, that and the fact that he needed a job where they didn't ask for a background check.
Of course, Tim immediately realized that something was wrong with the new Janitor but doesn't rat him out because he thinks he's just a meta hiding on Gotham and he can call Clark later. He regrets that decision when the Joker tries to kidnap the school (as normal) and the janitor, panicking, freezes the entire school, including Tim.
In Danny's defense, he hates clowns and will react to any clown around with aggression. Jason approves the weird Janitor.
Fanart for @st-whalefall and their amazing fic 'In the Hall of the Mountain King'! It's such an incredible piece of writing with beautiful metaphors, intriguing character dynamics, and a really interesting setting. Uh, spoilers for the first two chapters as well, I suppose!
There'd be a distinct lack of blood, but I doubt they'd be rational enough to realize it. All they'd see is a glowing figure with a baseball bat, Tim looking at his phone and seeming to have a horrifying realization, and then he gets hit over the head with a bat. He goes down instantly. And then the darkness of an ended call.
They actually think Tim was murdered in front of them and are freaking the fuck out. Yes, Kon could listen for Tim's heartbeat and tell that he's still alive. Yes, Bart could superspeed to Tim's apartment in about a second and check to make sure he's alright.
But the one critical thing that keep them from doing that is they're all dumbasses. Smart? Yes. Still a dumbass? Also yes.
Tim's gonna have a fun time explaining that to his hysterical friends when he wakes up and calls them back.
You know I've seen a few variations on "Danny is the one who can make the batfam sleep" now and most of them are powers-based or him being a tiny new orphan who is so so sad if you don't take care of yourself-based
May I propose another variation: Danny, having moved into the manner a month ago and long discovered all of the relevant secrets (without the others knowing) can tell their lack of self-care is weighing on Alfred.
Alfred is the one he's seen the most in his time there - the others have spent time with him, of course, but they all have their night jobs and work or school away from home (Danny is doing online classes so he can work at his own pace) - so he's not at all happy about Alfred being stressed.
Danny calls a family meeting.
He's built an app, he tells them, and each of them can access their own timer on their phones - yes he already downloaded it to each of them.
Yes, those are how long you've been awake, he tells them. Yes, he's sure they have noticed Tim's absence - Tim was on hour 35. The maximum allowed is 24.
If one's timer reaches 24, Danny will find them, and he will put them to sleep manually.
How? Danny hefts the Fenton creep stick pointedly.
Someone points out he could give them a concussion or kill them that way.
Danny says he's had a lot of practice judging swings.
He also maybe bribed Nocturne for a large amount of sleep dust. The bat is just for a deceptive bonk (and they will be getting a bonk, if a light one) as they go out so he doesn't have to explain himself - they'll just think he's really that good at judging swings.
Someone goes to find Tim to prove he's just bluffing. Except Tim is actually asleep.
Danny doesn't use any ghost powers, he's just that sneaky and he's keeping a close eye on the timers. No matter how they try to avoid him it simply doesn't work. He hacks the doors, he's good at combat the one time someone noticed him sneaking up on them, and he's such a good sneak that most of the time they don't notice him until it's too late (even more impressive once they actually start paying attention to their timers to try and anticipate him).
They don't all live together. That doesn't help.
Danny took a bus to Tim's apartment while claiming he was going on a jog to avoid suspicion. He hitchhikes all the way to Crime Alley to put out Red Hood. Nowhere is safe.
It becomes very obvious he knows about their secret IDs. It also becomes very clear that he only really cares about whether or not they're sleeping.
DP X DC Prompt #45
Gotham has a new rouge. Except he only steals food and medical supplies in great quantities.
(Jack takes Danny and runs to Gotham after a Reveal gone Wrong where Maddie tries to kill Danny)
Art for my fic Who's Old Now?
This is my design for Elle, as she goes by. Phantasm form is same as canon.
Yo! I'm Lira, she/her, LiraBuswavi on Ao3, and I'm just here to have a good time. The header is fanart I received for a fanfic I wrote! Check out @doodlesforfics, they're an amazing artist.
