ok like kakapo are great and all, i love them dont get me wrong but takahē are by far the best endangered new zealand bird and quite possibly THE Best Bird?
you cant really get any better than this. criminally underrated
it's easy to miss the way night smells, somehow wet and earthy and yet so graceful. it's easy to miss the pale light of the moon, white and feeble and elegant as it sweeps through the streets. it's easy to miss the sound of stars, low and distant and familiar like a much awaited embrace.
it's easy to forget night's beauty, but if you strain your ear just so, or manage to squint your eyes enough, or simply allow yourself to find the differences in the air after the sun has set, that beauty will be yours to cherish and behold.
don't forget to look for joy in this world.
A house for tiny chicks
That rabbit/hare post is messing me up. I’d thought they were synonyms. Their development and social behavior are all different. They can’t even interbreed. They don’t have the same number of chromosomes. Dogs, wolves, jackals, and coyotes can mate with each other and have fertile offspring but rabbits and hares cant even make infertile ones bc they just die in the womb. Wack.
every time I start thinking about lepidodendrons I always end up thinking about what it would be like to Jurassic Park one back to life and settle the 10099880 questions about how they existed once and for all
well.
just saw an x-ray of a horse skull. can’t say i’m too happy with it
