most common and safe speech form, can be used with everyone
especially used with clients, business partners, customers, etc
news broadcasts and reporters
~ㅂ니다
ex; 합니다, 하십니다
most common and safe speech, used with everyone as well
tv show hosts use it
more common with younger generations
~아요/여요/어요
ex; 해요, 하세요
used with friends, family, people of lower status, or younger than you
sort of plain text used in magazines, books, newspapers, songs, etc.
~다/ㄴ다/는다
ex; 한다, 하신다
between friends and children
ex; 해, 하셔
Theres also other speech forms but they are mostly unused so you can get away with ignoring them
하소서체 - for royalty and religious contexts, you might see it in churches or bibles and some historical dramas but thats it
하오체 - old casual form, might see it in historical dramas as well and for a period it was used online? like 해요체 you stick 오 at the end
하게체 - inbetween 반말 and 존댓말, only really used by people 60+
25•03•23// off to run errands, visit a pop up and then go to Toronto for a gig! I’m ready for an action packed day.

Day 36 of My 2020 Quarantine Challenge!
✨ 18th August ✨ Would you prefer your summer to be shorter or longer?
i really don’t think it would matter to me because honestly every summer i’ve had, no matter the length, has felt like the same amount of time. so i think i would say shorter if it meant i would get less heat
click on the pictures for better quality and to see that i did actually write stuff in those places where it looks blank (i love using pastel colours but they basically become invisible in pictures).
here’s another of my set of cacti! these are probably the coolest ones i have because of the insane pattern of the spikes because it is so perfect. these are called James, Betty and Inez (100 points if you can tell me what song inspired those names…)
I swear i questioned life more than i already do already.
what does your bio mean? "the sea was never blue" ?
Homer used two adjectives to describe aspects of the colour blue: kuaneos, to denote a dark shade of blue merging into black; and glaukos, to describe a sort of ‘blue-grey’, notably used in Athena’s epithet glaukopis, her ‘grey-gleaming eyes’. He describes the sky as big, starry, or of iron or bronze (because of its solid fixity). The tints of a rough sea range from ‘whitish’ (polios) and ‘blue-grey’ (glaukos) to deep blue and almost black (kuaneos, melas). The sea in its calm expanse is said to be ‘pansy-like’ (ioeides), ‘wine-like’ (oinops), or purple (porphureos). But whether sea or sky, it is never just ‘blue’. In fact, within the entirety of ancient Greek literature you cannot find a single pure blue sea or sky.
— The Sea Was Never Blue, Maria Michela Sassi
What, from a cursory glance, appears blue generally has more to say. You lift a precious stone to the sunlight and it lights up, it refracts, but there’s always a side you can’t see. If you think you’ve thought of it all, think a little longer. There’s always more to consider.
in addition to the fact that people just have different natural rhythms, a big reason why we can’t seem to go to bed as early as we “should” is that nighttime is, for many of us, our safest and most fulfilling time of day. we don’t have to work, we won’t be contacted by bosses or insurance companies or collection agencies or other suffocating life business… we’re likely only to be contacted by our friends, or by no one at all. night time is release; it’s ours. we can rest or recreate. we can do things we actually want to do. who would choose to cut that short?? just to usher in the next morning when our lives are not our own again? nighttime is precious and nothing could be more normal than the desire to embrace this
