Today, 1st June 2015, Algy joins his friends in their campaign calling on Tumblr to Protect the Creators.
Tumblr does nothing to prevent rebloggers from removing the credits, captions and link-backs of original creative works posted here on Tumblr - posted free, by artists, photographers, writers and other creative people for the whole Tumblr community to share.
It takes a lot of time and effort to produce original work. Algy knows! So he joins the call to staff to take action to ensure that original work is reblogged in its original form, with all credits and captions intact, and always with link-back to the creatorâs own blog.
Come on Tumblr, you can do it if you really want to! Protect the creators whose presence here on Tumblr makes it unique among social media platforms.
First, I want to thank all of you who answered my question and who liked and reblogged my original call to action, as well as those of you who sent me messages. For a while it seemed there was very little interest, but it is now taking on a life of its own, and this is wonderful.
Monday, June 1, 2015, No content except the âProtect the Creatorsâ (PtC) photo. You can reblog othersâ posts of it or download a PtC logo here. There are several languages, though perhaps English is the best way to go, since Tumblr staff is located in the US.
Use the PtC jpg as your avatar during Monday, June 1, 2015, or use it as your avatar now. Click on this link, to access the Google Drive folder that has all the signs I created.Â
Tag the post âprotectthecreators.â As towermill suggested, this is a great way for staff to see it trending. It may be a good idea to also tag it âstaff,â âtumblr staff,â âstaff.tumblr.com,â and âsupport.tumblr.com.â
Spread the word. Are you in?
because art is our life, our passion, and our job
Monday, June 1, 2015, no content except the âProtect the Creatorsâ photo, protect the creator´s rights by making it impossible to erase the credits.
