Strange things happen to people that don’t drink Wilkins.
okay but watching the latest Trump meltdown is amazing since one of the primary defenses I’ve heard of his behavior is “all guys have said stuff like that”. after several years of “not all men” every time we try to talk about sexual harassment. suddenly it is, in fact, all men. that is some kermit-drinking-tea level cognitive dissonance. thank you and good night.
I’ve been seeing some fearmongering going around lately about how unionising the video game industry would shut down independent developers, and I’m reminded of similar rhetoric regarding minimum wage laws and small businesses, when the reality is that most small businesses have no employees beyond the owning partners, and thus aren’t affected by minimum wage laws.
Most actual independent video game developers – i.e., as opposed to big studios that just call themselves indie for marketing purposes – are in the same position of having no employees beyond the owning partners, so it’s difficult to see how unionisation of video game production staff would affect them one way or the other. Like, what are they going to do, report themselves for exploiting themselves?
hypothesis: the salt & pepper diner experiment can no longer be conducted as it stands, because everyone is now fully attuned to the opening bars of tom jones’ “what’s new pussycat?”, classically conditioned into a fight-or-flight response. however, this experience can be replicated using 21 back-to-back plays of lou bega’s 1999 hit song “mambo no. 5″, as the general response to “mambo no. 5″ being played twice in a row is not, “hey someone’s playing “mambo no. 5″ again,” but rather, “hey, lou bega’s 1999 hit song “mambo no. 5″ is a lot longer than i first thought.”
look…………….. write as much shitty fic as you want. nobody can stop you. you’re learning constantly and it’s better to write hackneyed implausible ridiculousness than it is to not write at all out of fear of fucking up. you’re good
we joke about tumblr’s pjge (post john green era) but it is legitimately wild that a) a social media site allowed others to edit your posts for five years, and b) that we all agreed to use the honor system about it until mr. green arrived
