where is all the art that perfectly appeals specifically to my exact tastes and desires and nobody elses
Consider. Kallus overworking himself and not eating not because he feels unworthy or the need to be useful. But he has adhd and without the structure the Empire had he’s got no idea what time it is and won’t realize until 5pm that he forgot to eat all day.
That video of Alex Hirsch reading S&P notes for Gravity Falls conveys a few things to me:
1) the U.S. entertainment industry (especially animation) is run by older conservative types who make up offensive terms and get really mad about them.
2) the people who run Disney would be the first to fall in line with a fascist regime.
3) most of the media we consume is tailor-made and watered-down to appeal to the tastes of older, deeply religious conservative audiences.
4) conservatism, not the left, is and always has been the biggest voice of censorship in American culture.
Luke teaching Ben at his peaceful Jedi academy, "use the force to center yourself" vs. Ezra teaching Jacen in their mom's garage, "ok kid, I'm gonna fire at you and you're gonna dodge and if anything happens we're blaming Chopper".
if you see me tag Character on a post and you think to yourself "how the hell is that Character" mind your damn business alright we're on a first name basis. me and Character.
if Kallus and Zeb get married and settle down on Lira San a couple years after the end of the war, and if none of the post-rebels canon happens, Ezra's already safely home, and things are chill — what do you think they actually do with their time day to day?
please share any thoughts you have on what kind of work they would do in peacetime!
I just think Kallus and Jovan's relationship is so fun to explore, 'cause while Jovan seems to suck I'd argue Kallus most definitely sucked in a different way and they were probably the typical, toxic teen romance. Ya know, two emotionally neglected teens falling in love and quickly becoming codependent. Being convinced their fucked up dynamic was the epitome of love, when in reality neither of them had learned how to love in a healthy way. I think Kallus would want to resent Jovan, but eventually he'd come to terms with the fact that he himself hadn't been a good boyfriend either and maybe they had both just been way out of their depths, trying to run when they haven't even learned to crawl
