something something about white being the colour of authority : the white Peacekeeper uniforms, "white-coated assistants" (p83), "trainers in fitted white jumpsuits" (p130), "Gamemakers draped in snowy gowns" (p132), the Heavensbee's "white marble building" (p153).
something something about Snow targeting the Covey by making black the D12's colour in the Quell, when he knows how much they love their colours. and how little mention there is of vibrant colours in D12, where everything is faded and covered in coal dust. it's almost like wearing colours in itself is an act of rebellion by the covey (and lenore dove especially):
"... [Lenore Dove's] faded overalls and shirts concealed snips of color, a bright blue handkerchief pecking from her pocket, a raspberry ribbon stitched inside her cuff." (sotr p16) "Her in a faded green dress, an ivory ribbon tying back her hair, lips tinted orange." (sotr p18)
+ LD's bright orange paint she uses to write rebellious slogans
something something about dividing the colours between the districts, so that there cannot ever be another rainbow ruffle dress.
bonus: the tributes colors in the second quell

Book!Lucy Gray was glad that Coryo killed Bobbin & could not care less that he shot Mayfair (Even wrote a song abt how she loves him after). She even targeted Coral for attempting to murder Coryo. You think she'd wouldn't understand why he tattled on Sejanus? She loves all sorts of dangerous things, she doesn't mind that the snakes kill to survive, she understands why it does it, it's natural that a snake bites when threatened but trust is everything to her more than love.
The Kree
The Official Handbook Of The Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition #07 (June1985)
it’s not just katniss who’s descended from the covey—prim is, too. when effie sends katniss a list of possible “talents” she could have as a victor, katniss fails at cooking, flower arranging, and flute playing…“but prim has a knack for all three.”
because katniss is set on understating her similarities to her mother, she emphasizes prim’s shared qualities with asterid while positioning herself as the reflection of her father. in doing so, katniss makes it easy to forget that her voice is not the only place burdock everdeen lives on—he’s there behind prim’s blonde hair and blue eyes just as much.
the loss of their covey connection is a loss of culture for both everdeen girls. but they never truly lost their musical talent, not even with the loss of burdock and the music he brought to their home. because katniss knew her mother had returned to them the day asterid started to sing.
in a free world, a world where haymitch had been the symbol of a successful revolution, a world where the covey had been allowed to live on, katniss and prim both would have had a place in the community, the family that theirs had been forced to abandon. katniss armed with her voice and prim with her flute, clad in dresses of forest green and baby blue, they’d begin:
“nothing you can take from me was ever worth keeping…”
