In my opinion, he can stay out of the water longer than any other sea creature, but he needs to stay hydrated more often than a human does. If a human survives only 3–5 days without water, we can consider he can survive for ~24 hours. Maybe he can stay outside and play with Johnny for around an hour, before he starts to feel tired and dizzy and needing to get back into the water again...
