Honestly if you think about all the creepy crawlies in the deep ocean merzombies in fantasy oceans seem pretty plausible to me.
Like imagine a land dwelling adventurer got the proper supplies for underwater travel in hopes of finding lost treasures. So they set their sights on an ocean trench, diving deeper than the depths suggested by the marine habitants.
And as they descend to the point of complete darkness, fully relying on artificial light to guide them, a sudden rush of water whizzes by. Like something swam past them. While trying to catch a glimpse of anything their light catches what looks like a merfolk, instantly causing relief before sinking into unease the longer they look.
Chunks of flesh bitten out to expose bone, pale skin littered in scars, and an almost entire tail stripped clean of flesh.
...aaaaaand that’s where I’m ending this idea. Just a fun idea

I'm obsessed with That Scene(tm) between Katya and Andrei in the California Director's Cut Rerelease of Goncharov, so I did a lighting study inspired by the film's Art Deco Posters! Little details like Katya never referring to her husband by his first name really add to Andrey and Katya's tense dynamic, which is one of the most underrated parts of the movie imo.

UPDATE: Honestly? It felt like it was a comedy with horror elements. Like it wasn't really that scary and there was only like....one unexpected scene in my opinion.
But overall p chill, it was fun joking during the film and others were laughing too so def a chill movie. Nothing ground breaking but funny at times.
Like it's clear the film doesn't take it self seriously which is nice since so many try to shove a deep message at you.
BUT I will say multiple people die due to car crash related stuff so if that's a trigger for u maybe not watch this film.
