After the long and boring movie, you were walking through New York’s busy streets. Your hands were wrapped around your best friend’s - if you may say it - extremely muscled arm.
The best friend for whom your feelings grew stronger by the day.
You tried to ignore your sweaty hands, thumping heart and butterflies whenever you were around him. But it was hard.
Really hard.
You didn’t want to ruin the beautiful thing you had. Your long-lasting friendship.
“I can’t believe you actually enjoyed that movie.” You laughed, shaking your head in disbelief at what he had just admitted to you.
“What? Are you kidding me. It was pretty good.” Chad replied, a wide smile on his face.
You absolutely loved that smile, his beautiful genuine smile.
“Are you serious? I could make a whole list on what’s wrong about that movie. Front and back!” You exclaimed, receiving a chuckle from him.
“I am convinced we both saw a different movie.” Chad shrugged. A giggle left your lips at the weird taste of your best friend as you looked him in the eyes.
“You really are something, Chad.” You broke eye-contact with him, to watch the road you were crossing. “A good something, I hope.” He grinned, as you could feel him staring at you. you looked to your left and right before you crossed.
“Sometimes.” You shrug teasingly and you hear him laugh from beside you. The corners of your lips tug into smile when hearing the angelic sound.
After a while of walking around, talking and laughing the two of you had arrived in front of your dorm building. You let go of his arm, already missing his body so close to yours.
You were standing across from each other and somehow your feet didn’t want to move. You really didn’t want to go. You didn’t want this night to end.
“Should I walk you upstairs?” He questioned when you didn’t move an inch. You woke up from your trance and shook your head with a smile, “Thank you, but I’ll make it on my own.”
But in reality you wanted nothing more than for him to walk you upstairs. Just so you could be with him for a little longer.
He chuckled at your reply and opened his mouth to say something. But closed it swiftly, almost as if he was afraid to ruin the moment.
“See you tomorrow, princess.”
Princess. The nickname that made your heart flutter, especially when Chad was the one to call you that.
He hesitated at first, but he leaned in closer and planted a gentle kiss on your cheek.
If your heartbeat wasn’t fast then it definitely was racing now. “See you.” You said while your cheeks heated up. He looked at you with his gorgeous smile and watched as you opened the door and stepped inside, completely flustered by what just had happened.
During your short trip to your dorm, all you could think about was him. It wasn’t any different than usual; you were always thinking about him. But something about that innocent kiss told you that things were different than you thought they were.
With a train of thoughts clouding your mind, you entered your dorm, welcomed by a strange smell. The smile on your face was wiped off immediately.
You called for your roommate, but they didn’t answer.
Confused by the smell filling your nose, you tried to find the source of it. Eventually you realised that the closer you got to your roommate’s room, the worse the smell got.
You opened the door and walked inside. Your roommate was laying on their bed, a blanket put over them.
As you drew closer and closer, your heart began to race. You became extremely nauseous as the smell intensified. Your pupils widen in astonishment as you pull away the blanket.
Your roommates dead body was brutally stabbed. Their blood had stained the mattress entirely red.
You put your hand on your mouth to muffle your cries as you looked at them. You couldn’t believe someone would ever do this to them.
You were about to get your phone from your pocket, planning to call Chad. But you got pushed down forcefully and fell on the ground. Your phone flew out
of your hand and landed not too far away from you.
Your watery eyes blinked a few times, before you saw the mask you would recognise from anywhere. The mask you had grown to hate with your entire being.
You tried to grab for anything that could be useful to attack the ghostface with as they were hovering over you. They had gotten ahold of your legs and pulled you closer to them, the blade of their knife sliding against the skin of your leg.
Your arms went everywhere trying to get ahold of something at least.
You successfully managed to grab a baseball bat which belonged to your roommate and hit the ghostface with it on their head.
“Motherfucker!” You yelled hitting it on their head a few times. You quickly got up when their grip loosened and searched for your phone.
You went to grab it, but just when you picked it up you were pushed again and this time the ghostface stabbed you in the leg, twisting it slowly and painfully.
You yelled out in pain and tried everything in your power to push them away, but it was no use.
They slapped the phone out of your hand and let out a deep evil chuckle.
“How does it feel without your muscled bodyguard to save you?” They spoke, their knife threateningly close to your face.
Their knife made its way to your stomach, and all you could do was watch. You were powerless, completely powerless.
They stabbed you without regrets twisting and turning the knife, causing pain to shoot throughout your entire body.
You thought of Chad.
The Chad who was calling you nonstop.
The sound of your ringtone was on the background as you could slowly feel yourself disappear.
-
Chad was pacing back in forth in his dorm, his body tense and his mind full with questions.
Why didn’t you answer? Did something happen to you?
Ethan tried to calm his roommate down the best he could. He told Chad you probably fell asleep and that you forgot to call.
But Chad knew better. Chad knew you wouldn’t go to sleep without letting him know you were safe and making sure he was. He knew you couldn’t go about your evening without checking in on him.
He knew you.
And you wouldn’t just ignore him out of the blue.
“I’ve got to do something.” He whispered to himself. He took out his phone and started calling you over and over again.
But still no answer.
He sat down next to Ethan on the couch, who was slowly drifting to sleep. “Y/n’s probably fine, Chad. Don’t worry.” He mumbled.
But that didn’t stop Chad from worrying. Not even a little bit.
When he called you again, you finally picked up and he let out a sigh of relief. But when the person on the other end of the line started talking, it wasn’t you.
He got up quickly after what he heard and didn’t even bother to grab a coat on this cold evening. He didn’t bother because something had happened to you.
Something bad.
“Y/n Y/l/n?” Chad questioned the woman at the reception, who was rather moody. She looked him up and down, before pointing towards the hall behind her.
“Room 13.” She replied bluntly, chewing her gum obnoxiously loud.
“Thanks.” He answered politely. His heart was racing out of worry.
He regretted not walking you upstairs. Regretted every decision he made that evening. And most specifically not telling you how he felt.
He had planned it all, the moment he was going to finally open up about his feelings for you. But he was too mesmerised by you, he completely forgot all about admitting to you.
He made his way to your room and his face softened when seeing you in the hospital bed. He walked over to you slowly, his heart breaking into a million pieces by seeing you like this.
Your eyes fluttered open when you heard him enter, your head rested on the pillow.
“Chad.” You brought out with difficulty and you tried to shoot him a smile. “Y/n.” He replied walking over to sit down on the chair next to you instantly.
He grabbed your hand and held it tightly, tears threatening to spill. “I’m so sorry I wasn’t there, Y/n.”
“It’s not your fault.” You assured him. “No, but it is. The night wasn’t supposed to go this way, but I chickened out and- I’m sorry.” Chad didn’t dare to look you in your eyes, feeling guilty.
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion while you listened to his ramble. You wanted to say something, but your mouth couldn’t form any words.
Chad looked up to look you in the eyes, but this time it felt different. His eyes had something else in them than they usually had.
You still looked him in the eyes while he opened and closed his mouth several times. “I- There’s something I’ve wanted to tell you. And the thing is I thought I had more time. Time to actually think this through and make it a perfect moment- ”
“Y/n, I really thought I’d lost you. It terrified me. And regret washed over me, I should’ve been there for you. I should’ve told you what I actually wanted to tell you.” He said, before taking a deep breath and exhaling.
You squeezed his hand assuring him that he could tell you what had been bothering him so much.
“Y/n, I like you. I have liked you since the moment I have laid eyes on you. Hell, I might even love you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and-“ But before he could finish you had pulled him in for a kiss.
His hands made their way to your cheeks and cupped them gently. Your lips moved in sync together as relief washed over the both of you. The contact between your lips was electric and it’s as if the whole world just stopped. Like it was just the two of you.
You pulled away with the biggest smile on your faces. “I like you too, Chad. A lot actually.” You told him, your eyes never leaving his.
“Well, I’m sure I like you more.” He whispered and you playfully rolled your eyes in response.
“good thing we’re allies, right?”

hi ursula! would you be up to writing jack x reader where she wears his shirt for the first time ever and he’s just mesmerised by her, and kisses her face all over? i think that’d be cute!

summary: jack goes home to his girlfriend and her sweet nothings.
JACK LEFT THE SET WITH THE FEELING OF EXCITEMENT INVADING HIS CHEST. It was an unusual thing to feel after long hours of shooting, but that day was different because Y/N was waiting for him at his house. They were both free the following day so Jack told her to sleep over and spend the next day together.
As he drove towards his home, he could picture her perfectly in his head. She was probably making his favourite food—because she loved to spoil him after tiring days of work—while humming some Taylor Swift song and dancing around the kitchen like a little kid.
And once he parked in the driveway, he sprinted towards the entrance door with a big smile, eager to see his girl. He was instantly hit with the smell of pizza and the sound of her sweet voice. When he reached the kitchen he leaned against the doorframe, and took his time to admire the sight in front of him.
Y/N was standing behind the counter, eyes furrowed in concentration as she carefully put cheese on the pizza—her perfectionist ass wanted the squares of cheese to be even and perfectly cut even though they were going to melt—, her hair was in a messy ponytail and strands fell in front of her eyes which made her sigh in frustration—something that made Jack smiled like a love-sick fool because he couldn’t believe the adorable girl standing in his kitchen was his.
And finally, the last thing that capture his attention was what she was wearing. The short sleeves of the plaid green shirt reached her elbows, and when he got to see her full body he noticed it ended by her upper thighs. She had never looked more beautiful.
Jack wanted this to be his everyday sight. He wanted to found himself running home to her warm smile, to her little rumblings about her day at uni, to her easing laugh and creases in her eyes, to her cozy arms and awful singing voice: to her sweet nothings.
“Hey” she spoke once she noticed his tall frame leaning on the door. His eyes were on her, but he appeared to be in another planet. “Babe?”
Jack blinked as he got out of his trance. “What?”
“Nothing, I just said hey” she laughed. “What happened?”
“You. In my shirt” he answered, eyes filled with adoration.
“Yeah, sorry. I spilled tomatoe soup on mine so I stole this one”
He took a step closer and cupped her jaw “It looks so much better in you. Hell, you know what? All my clothes are yours now, you should wear mine everyday from now on”
“But I like my clothes” Y/N laughed.
“I’ll burn them so you’ll have no choice” he joked. “For real, you look so beautiful. I never want to take my eyes off you” he started kissing every inch of the skin on her face, making her giggle.
“I missed you a lot” she said wrapping her arms around his neck as their foreheads touched. “How was work?”
Jack pressed a kiss on her nose “It was okay. Been looking forward to this all day, though. It was hard to concentrate” he admitted, closing his eyes and enjoying the feeling of their hug. “Missed you too. It was excruciating.”
“I made pizza, is that okay?” she asked. Jack looked down and smiled when he saw the pizza had the shape of a heart. “Saw it on Pinterest, and I just had to do it”
“You’re so cute. I love you.” he pressed his nose against hers, his heart pumping in his chest. He never thought how good being in love with someone felt like.
“I love you too, J.” she smiled lovingly.
And to have that someone love you back? It was priceless. He would take every exhausting day at work, every industry disruptor that made a bad review on his performance or movies, every soul deconstructor that threw hate comments at him, as long as at the end of the day he would have Y/N’s love and support.

“Students?” A gruff voice calls repeatedly as the first few forms of address remain unanswered.
Su-Hyeok’s eyes flutter open and he raises his head, fully aware of the neck cramp sure to bother him later on. Another thing he realizes, is that you had fallen asleep leaning on his shoulder, and he had drifted off with his head on yours. He smiles to himself momentarily, seeing you still dead to the world.
“Kids, this is the last stop.”
Finally turning his attention to the bus driver, Su-Hyeok looks up sheepishly. “I’m pretty sure we missed our destination.”
The bus driver chuckles as Su-Hyeok scratches his head in confusion. “Where were you and your girlfriend supposed to disembark at?”
Seeing it unnecessary to deny the nature of your supposed relationship that everyone unanimously agreed on, and especially with the crush he has been harboring for years, Su-Hyeok lets himself have at least this—no matter how untrue—if not your reciprocated feelings.
“Our history class planned a field trip for an overnight hanok stay, and the informational tour was supposed to begin hours ago. Saying we missed half of it already is probably a sore understatement.”
“Sky Guesthouse?”
Before Su-Hyeok can confirm, you stir, confused at the darkened sky outside of the windows. The last time you were awake, it was still bright out. “Have we arrived?”
“Uh…you see…about that—"
“We missed it didn’t we?” You turn to your best friend, arms crossed.
“The guesthouse should only be a few blocks away,” the bus driver intervenes. “Both of you fell asleep for the entirety of the route, so don’t be too hard on your boyfriend here,” he jokes.
Before you get a chance to refute, Su-Hyeok elbows you playfully. “See? This kind gisanim is vouching for me.”
You roll your eyes and begin to stand up, thankful you were in the aisle seat, and quickly grab your things. As you bow to the driver in gratitude and head towards the front of the bus, you can hear Su-Hyeok scrambling for his own belongings as he chases after you. “Thank you for putting up with him, Ahjussi!” You throw over your shoulder with a wave.
“I’ll have you know it’s fun to be around me!” Su-Hyeok defends, mock offended.
You ignore him trailing behind you and check your phone, just to see it blown up with multiple missed calls and unread messages from your friends, mainly On-Jo. “I need to stop complying to your every whim, Su-Hyeok,” you state in exasperation, hurriedly jumping off the bus. “Why did I agree to go with you on this roundabout trip when Cheong-San’s mom offered to drop us off? You know how much she adores her son’s childhood friends.”
Su-Hyeok matches your steps, knocking his shoulder into yours repeatedly, until you can’t help but smile. “Oh, I don’t know,” he begins to answer your question. “Maybe you just adore me more.”
“Do not!” You disagree half-heartedly as Su-Hyeok flashes you a crooked smile, and you have to shut your heart down. Curse good-looking people.
The tiled roof of the guesthouse slowly come into view, the buildings appearing grander as you draw nearer. Just as you reach the wooden gate, your phone dings with another text. Su-Hyeok peers over your shoulder as you read the text out loud. “So apparently the tour ended long ago, as we expected and everyone already has their assigned rooms. I-Sak, On-Jo, and Nam-Ra are in one room, Cheong-San and Gyeong-Su in another, Wu-Jin, Dae-Su, and Joon-Yeong in the third, Ji-Min and Hyo-Ryung in a smaller room since it’s just the two of them…and Na-Yeon is by herself because she despises everyone.”
Su-Hyeok laughs. “Sounds about right.”
You smile to yourself at the way On-Jo was giving you a rundown of everything that happened during the few hours you had missed. It was quite easy to sense her fond annoyance when she talked about Cheong-San messing with her all day through the rows of animated emojis she sent you.
“Do you think there are still empty rooms left for us?” Su-Hyeok questions.
“With a place this huge, I’m sure they’ll find lodging for us one way or another.”
As the two of you are about to open the door, Ms. Park beats you to it from the other side. “Y/N, Su-Hyeok!” Her eyes widen in surprise. “I wasn’t expecting your presence but I’m so glad you guys finally made it.” Ms. Park looks over the two of you, relief washing over her features after confirming nothing was out of the ordinary.
“We’re so sorry, seonsaengnim,” you apologize. “You must’ve been worried, especially since you’re only a replacement teacher chaperone. I’d rather you have enjoyed this field trip too instead of looking for missing students.”
Ms. Park shakes her head, smiling. “No need for all that, Y/N. We planned this just so you kids can relax after exams. Don’t feel guilty for running a little late; it’s supposed to be a fun, enjoyable day after all. I won’t hold it against you.”
“It’s not ‘we’ is it, Ms. Park?” You grin knowingly. “You’re the one who suggested this to the board of teachers, right?”
“Maybe, maybe not.” She winks at you and you laugh. If only the other teachers genuinely cared for their students like Ms. Park did, perhaps you’d be more inclined to put them in higher regards.
“We didn’t miss anything too fun, right? Just the tour?” Su-Hyeok asks.
“Of course, you would care more about the fun and less on the educational purpose, Bare-Su,” Ms. Park teases.
“That’s why we didn’t missed our stop,” you add fuel to the fire.
“You’re being a bad influence on one of my top students?” Ms. Park stands akimbo, and you join in, happy to put Su-Hyeok on the spot.
“My favorite teacher and my best friend are tag-teaming to make fun of me? I’m hurt.” Su-Hyeok puts a hand on his chest dramatically.
“You deserve it.” You stick your tongue out at him before Ms. Park quickly ushers you both inside.
“It’s much too late for us to stand out here in the cold. We’ll catch a draft at this rate.”
Despite the dark, as you look around, the authentically photogenic architecture captures your attention, even more so under the faint lighting from traditional lanterns hanging from the 14th century style curved roofs.
“Since everyone’s already gone to their respective quarters and we don’t want to disturb the other occupants, you two can share that room over there.” Ms. Park points to one located in the corner. “Even though it gives you a humble living experience of the Joseon Dynasty, I don’t think you will mind sleeping on the timber floors as there’s enough cozy quilts to go around, but I’ll go grab a few more for you just like I did for the others, in case you get cold at night. There should also be simple beds in there as well, no different from all the rooms here, if that makes you more comfortable and easier to sleep in.”
“I’ll help you Ms. Park. We’ve already kept you waiting, it’s the least I can do.” Su-Hyeok offers to go get extra blankets from the hosts, gesturing for you to go ahead and check out the room first.
As you approach the timber frame of the wooden doors, your silhouette casts a shadow on the rice paper lining, and for a split second, you feel as if you were transported back centuries into the reminiscent past. Smoothly, you slide the doors open, and step over the little ledge with your sock-clad feet into the abode. The room is slightly smaller than how it looked from the outside, but the accommodation is adorned with various fragments from the ancient era, and you appreciate the privileged glimpse into a world unknown to you, lost in the passing of time.
Curious, you pull aside the folding screen ink-stained with paintings of orchids, only to realize that Ms. Park was sorely mistaken about all the rooms being the same. You hear the doors sliding open again, and in walks Su-Hyeok, balancing a stack of bedding in his arms so high you could barely see his head behind it. He sets everything down near the now-closed again entrance, only to see you standing there in the middle of the room.
Su-Hyeok tilts his head to the side, looking at you. “What is it? Is the room not what you expected?”
“Well, I’ve got good news and bad news.”
“Bad news first, then.”
“There’s actually only one bed in this room, not two.”
“…And the good news is?” Su-Hyeok trails off.
“I looked earlier and it seems large enough. We can share!”
Su-Hyeok’s eyes widen almost comically. “No, absolutely not.”
Confused and oblivious, your eyebrows scrunch together. “Why on earth not? We’ve had sleepovers so often when we were little, in the same bed every time no less. You didn’t mind then.”
Incredulous, Su-Hyeok flushes furiously. “That was before I—” he halts mid-sentence.
“Before you..?” You lean forward, straining your ears, thinking you had missed his last words.
“Never mind. I’ll make use of the blankets I brought and you can take the bed.”
“But—”
“Nope.”
“Su-Hyeok, your back is going to kill you in the morning if you sleep on the floor all night,” you try to convince, feeling guilty he’s offering you the much-more comfortable bed without hesitation.
“I’ll be fine,” he reassures you.
“Come on, it’s only weird if you make it weird. This is literally just a room with a bed.”
“One bed,” Su-Hyeok emphasizes. “Not to mention, also just one pillow.”
“I’ll give you the pillow, then.”
He looks at you pointedly. “What about you?”
“Give me your arm,” you tease, smiling, trying to hold in your laughter at the scandalized look on his face.
“Are you crazy? You’re not getting anywhere even remotely close to persuading me to share that bed with you,” he splutters.
You plop down on the bed and kick your feet back and forth. “Things could be much worse than this situation you know.”
“Debatable.”
You throw the pillow at him and he catches it before it hits his face, looking much too happy when you scoff.
“Keep it. You need it more than me.” You fall backwards onto the bed. “Right or left?”
“Right or left?”
“Just choose one.”
Regardless of his confusion, Su-Hyeok ultimately chooses right. “Alright then, I’ll leave that side open if you change your mind.”
“I won’t.”
“Whatever you say.”
⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚.: ⋆*・゚
You blindly reach for your phone, unable to sleep. The bright light hits you, causing you to squint at the time. 1:31 am. You roll over and peer down the side of the bed, seeing Su-Hyeok with his eyes closed, wrapped in blankets all the way up to his neck, more likely than not freezing in his thin white t-shirt.
“Su-Hyeok,” you whisper, not expecting an answer.
“Yeah?” He opens one eye to look at you.
“I can’t sleep.”
“Neither can I. I’m cold.”
“Come up here.”
“…But not that cold.”
“You’ve layered six blankets on top of you and you’re still shivering.”
He stares at you for a long moment in the dark until finally, he sighs, giving in. Su-Hyeok pads toward the side of the bed you left empty all night, dragging his multiple blankets and the single pillow with him. If you had to be honest, it was an endearing sight; he looked like a giant baby bundled from head to toe in the thick silks.
Before he even gets on the bed, he takes off one and wraps you up in it, the blanket already warm from body heat. The rest he rolls up and aligns vertically, creating a makeshift mini wall between the two of you. You snort at the absurdity of it, but decide not to say anything against it, lest Su-Hyeok insists on going back to the ground. He eventually crawls into bed, though his legs are too long, feet ending up hanging off the bottom edge.
“Isn’t this better?” You turn to face him, seeing him already looking at you. In the dark, you can barely make out his eyes, but the proximity can’t take away from how your heart feels under his gaze.
Su-Hyeok slides a hand under your face and lifts your head slightly to slide the pillow below you. Now both of you were sharing a bed, a blanket, and even a pillow. With your head on half and his on the other, the only way to be comfortable was for the two of you to lay face-to-face, almost touching noses if it weren’t for the centerline of blankets. “Much better.”
He pushes more of the blanket to your side and when he draws back, your fingers brush accidentally, though he doesn’t move them away, and you don’t have the intention to do so either. “Sweet dreams, Y/N,” he says softly, before closing his eyes. Just by those small gestures alone, you were touched more than that acceptable of a friendly nature.
“Sleep well, Su-Hyeok.” You lay there in the darkness, your eyes lingering on him for a bit longer until you can’t keep them open anymore. This time around, sleep comes easily.
⋆*・゚:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚.: ⋆*・゚
When harsh morning sunlight streams into the room, you wake up to the feeling of warm air fanning across your face. Squinting against the light before being able to open your eyes entirely, you become aware of just how close you were to Su-Hyeok—so close that you could hear his steady heartbeat, loud enough to count. You have no clue as to how you ended up enveloped completely in his arms, your head tucked tightly into the crook of his neck. The pillow wall from last night is now nonexistent, unknown to you how long it actually served a purpose, yet, you can’t find it in you to move away.
But, as your luck would have it, Su-Hyeok's eyes slowly flutter open, and he begins to stir, immediately looking down. Flustered at the current position, the only thing you could think in the moment is to kick him off the bed.The thud as he hits the floor has you scrambling, worriedly peeking your head over the edge to see that thankfully, he wasn’t hurt; annoyed, but otherwise unharmed.
“Yah! You were worried about my back last night when I decided to take the floor, but instead kicking me onto it is better?”
“Sorry, sorry! It was on reflex!” You reach down and pull him up back onto the bed, trying not to laugh as he glares at you.
Silence ensues as the two of you are at a loss for words about what happened overnight, avoiding eye contact and leaving space as wide as an ocean in between, the bed growing colder by the minute.
“Did I snore?” Su-Hyeok suddenly asks you.
You shake your head. “Did I say weird things in my sleep?”
[ 3:26 am]
“On-Jo,” you mumble.
“Y/N, this is Su-Hyeok,” he tries to reason with your still-sleeping form. “You’re dreaming, aren’t you?”
“No, we’re having a serious conversation. Of course, you’re On-Jo. I can only tell you important things. Are you even listening to me?”
“Yes, I am,” Su-Hyeok sniggers as you punch his shoulder in your sleep, feeling apologetic toward On-Jo, who was most likely on the receiving end of lot of them in the course of your friendship over the years. He could relate wholeheartedly.
“There’s someone I really like and I keep thinking about them but I don’t know if they think about me too.”
Su-Hyeok holds his breath so tightly in his chest that it could burst, only releasing the tension in his lungs on an exhale when he finally hears your next words.
“On-Jo, I like Su-Hyeok…a lot. Do you think he feels the same?”
“Why wouldn’t he when it’s you?”
“No, I think you only had sweet dreams like I wished for you to.”

On-Jo stands next to Su-Hyeok in the breakfast line when a familiar scent wafts across her nose. She sniffs slightly, trying to decipher what it is when it dawns on her that it was emanating from Su-Hyeok. Her eyes widen at the nuance of it.
“Su-Hyeok…don’t tell me…” she places a hand across her mouth in shock. “Did you and Y/N share a bed?!”
“No,” he deadpans, but the blush on his face can’t hide the truth.
“Really, are you sure about that?” On-Jo smirks slightly. “Your shirt…it smells like the perfume I gave Y/N as a birthday gift.”
“There can’t be similar fragrances?”
“I had it personalized.”

Su-Hyeok is the first to wake up, but as he turns to get out of bed discreetly, you grab onto his wrist lightly. “Can you stay with me?” Just the way you said that sleepily to him was enough to convince him not to go.
"You should get some more rest. I won't leave. I promise."
He gets back into bed and you immediately huddle close to him, eyes still closed, the expression on your face much more relaxed than before. Su-Hyeok’s heart flutters in his chest as he pulls you closer, not letting go.
Maybe one day he’ll tell you about what you said in your sleep.
Maybe one day he’ll tell you about the kiss he pressed against your forehead and how you smiled afterwards.
Maybe on the day when he confesses.

Masterlist
it had been a few months since you first met si-eun’ other friends. they all had very different personalities yet, somehow it worked. they accepted you with open arms when si-eun finally introduced you to them.
gotak in particular was very welcoming with you. he was charming, a little reckless, and he had this way of making everything feel like a game. when you’d hang out both you and si-eun had often rolled your eyes at his teasing—he was relentless. he constantly flirted with you in the most absurd ways and you soon grew accustomed to the way gotak’ attention drifted to you like some kind of magnetic force whenever when you were around.
at first, you’d tried to shut him down politely, then firmly, and eventually, you just ignored him.his playful winks and over-the-top comments weren’t even enough to faze you anymore. it wasn’t that you didn’t find him attractive. he was. but you had no interest in getting caught up within his antics. however, some days proved harder than others.
"you’re so cold” gotak teased, his voice dripping with amusement “you know one of these days, you're gonna fall for me, and i’ll be there to remind you i was right from the beginning”
“keep dreaming” you rolled your eyes, not wanting to humour him.
“trust me i will” he reached an arm to poke your side. this was something you always hated so you responded with an elbow into his stomach.
he let out an amused laugh as he was satisfied that he’d pushed your buttons.
it was a regular evening when everything changed. you and si-eun were walking together in a comfortable silence. you had an airpod in your ear and you both began to cross the road.
you hadn’t noticed until you were on the other side of the road but si-eun was no longer beside you. when you turned to see where he was, he was still in the middle of the road.
phone upto his ear, his facial expression unreadable and within a second it happened. the sound of a truck beeping and then a loud sickening thud followed.
your chest tightened and the world seemed to slow down in a rush of adrenaline. your eyes widened as si-eun laid on the floor unconscious.
he’d been hit by a truck.
“si-eun! stay with me, you’re going to be okay” you yelled as you ran into the road towards his body. you then crouched down beside him as you called for an ambulance.
it felt like hours before they arrived and then you were in the hospital waiting room. it was cold, sterile and suffocating. you held your hoodie around yourself trying to hold it all together. you felt numb.
your hands were shaky as you called jun-tae, you mentioned that something had happened to si-eun and you knew he would pass along the message and your phone soon flooded with messages from your friends saying they were on their way.
the minutes of waiting felt like hours, each minute more agonizing than the last. you’de barely registered the footsteps approaching before you heard the familiar voice of gotak.
“y/n, what happened?” his tone was a lot sharper than usual, his usual teasing replaced by genuine concern.
you head immediately shot up at his voice and you didn’t know how to answer him. your lip quivered as you felt your throat tightening.
you wanted to speak but it’s like the words were trapped inside your throat. gotak noticed this and he took a step closer. concern washed on his face.
“it’s ok, take your time” his voice was soft and tears brimmed your eyes as you looked at him.
“si-eun, he-” you tried speaking but instead burst into tears.
gotak instinctively wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into his chest. his hug was protective, warm and almost as if he was trying to shield you from everything. your body stiffened at first but as soon as you felt yourself relax, you then immediately let it all out, unable to stay strong any longer.
his chin rested a top of your head and he didn’t at any point let go.
“it’s okay, im here” his voice was low but comforting “you don’t have to go through this alone”
you remained in his arms for a few minutes more and when you finally calmed down, you slowly pulled away but gotak was hesitant to let you go.
“you’re strong and si-eun. he’ll get through this, ok?” the softness in his voice was something you’d never heard before. it made tour heart ache in ways you least expected.
gotak, who never usually took anything seriously was here and you were now seeing him in a completely different light. he wasn’t just the guy who teased you relentlessly; he was someone who cared, deeply, in his own way.
thenext few days were a blur. you spent most of your time at the hospital, waiting for any sign of improvement from si-eun. gotak was always there, sometimes by your side, sometimes just quietly sitting across the room, his presence comforting regardless.
but you then started to notice the subtle changes in him—the way he no longer flirted with you, the way he would reach out with a soft touch or offer quiet words of support when you needed them most.
hewas there, not as the guy who teased you, but as someone who understood the gravity of the situation. who understood what you currently needed.
one evening, as you sat in the hospital’s waiting area, gotak approached you, looking unusually serious. he stood in front of you for a moment, then hesitated before sitting beside you.
“i’ve been thinking a lot, you know?” he began, his voice uncertain “about everything.”
you glanced at him, surprised by his tone.
“i know i’ve been… an idiot. flirting, teasing you all the time. i guess i thought it was just fun, you know? seeing how riled up you’d get sometimes” he then paused, running a hand through his hair “but, honestly, i don’t want to just be some joke anymore. i want to be here for you. i just don’t know how else to say it.”
your heart skipped a beat as you met his gaze, realizing he was being completely genuine.
“gotak” you whispered, your voice barely audible “what are you saying?”
he shifted closer, his eyes softening “i’m saying i care about you, more than just as friends. i want to be with you in any way you want me. whether it’s a friend or more..”
you didn’t know what to say at first. everything inside you felt tangled, emotions running high. you had seen this side of gotak, but you hadn’t expected it to come out this way.
“you’ve been nothing but amazing to me, you make me feel so cared for and i care for you too” your voice was shaky.
a silence then fell between you both, the weight of your words hanging in the air. gotak then smiled—a genuine, soft smile. he reached out, his hand brushing against yours.
your heart beating fast.
in that moment, everything changed.
as the days passed and si-eun recovered, gotak and you found something new in each other. something more than what had been there before. the teasing and flirtation remained but was overtaken by something deeper, something real.
one evening after a long day, gotak finally leaned in, his lips brushing against yours in a soft kiss. his hands cupped your face as he pulled you in closer. you didn’t resist, instead you melted into the kiss, savouring the moment.
when he pulled back, he smiled, his eyes soft with sincerity which cause you to grin aswell.
“i’ve fallen for you” he confessed “more than i thought i ever could”
“me too” you admitted and he leaned his forehead onto yours and you both linked your fingers together.
“i told you so” the seriousness in his voice disappeared and his usual teasing tone returned “i was right from the beginning”
you let out a laugh, gently shaking your head “whatever”
you playfully rolled your eyes and pulled back from him dramatically to try and make a point but gotak pulled you back in.
“go on, admit it” he smirked and you couldn’t stop smiling.
you really had fallen for gotak.
hard.

pairing: su-bong/thanos/player 230 x reader, fluff
summary: rollerblader!user heads to a nearby skate park to unwind, only to collide with skateboarder!Su-bong, a reckless skateboarder from your calculus class.
tw/cw: minor injuries, mild language, loser thanos, no squid games au, happens before thanos becomes thanos!!
author's note: i've had this idea in my head for a while but i've never really had the time. Also, this is my first ever fic and my first time posting smth on tumblr, so don't expect it to be the best</3
You hadn’t touched your rollerblades since the start of the fall semester. All those plans of skating to class every day? Dead on arrival the moment you discovered the university’s ridiculous no-skateboarding-or-rollerblading policy on campus pathways. Since then, you’d developed a special kind of hatred for the cyclists cruising by with smug ease.
Now, crouched under your dorm bunk, you unearthed your old pair of blades—the same ones you’d had since junior high. They were dusty, sure, but still functional and that was all you needed. Skating had always been your escape, the one thing you could rely on when everything else felt overwhelming. The wind rushing past, the steady rhythm of wheels against pavement—it was freedom in motion, and no other feeling came close.
With no classes for the day, you finally had a chance to check out the skate park near campus. Your friends had mentioned it, but until now, you hadn’t had the time nor the energy. This felt like a well-earned reward for surviving the semester so far.
At a nearby bench, you kicked off your shoes and slid your feet into your rollerblades, snapping the buckles closed with practiced ease. Standing up, balance returning like second nature, you headed toward one of the ramps.
Or, well, you tried to.
“Move!”
The pavement came up fast and hard. Your hands burned from the impact, and your knees felt like they’d been grated raw.
Someone else hit the ground ahead of you with a heavier thud—his skateboard flying off like it had somewhere better to be. A few people nearby laughed under their breath, offering zero help and even less concern.
“Ah... fuck.” The guy groaned, sitting up slowly as he inspected the tear in his oversized jeans. He stood, brushing off dirt, but avoided your gaze, scratching the back of his head with a sheepish expression. “Sorry, dude,” he muttered, more apologetic about his own clumsiness than about sending you sprawling.
You recognized him—Su-bong. The guy who spent calculus class beatboxing under his breath and pretending to DJ on an imaginary turntable. You’d barely exchanged more than a nod with him before, but you knew the rumors. He skipped most of his classes, somehow scraped by on exams, and had yet to be expelled—something about his father being part of the school board or whatever. You never cared enough to eavesdrop on stuff about him.
In his free time—which was basically all the time—Su-bong could be found rapping in alleyway battles or losing himself in the skate park, chasing the same thrill you craved, perfecting tricks like it was the only thing that mattered.
And now, he’d managed to ruin the one rare moment you had to yourself.
Still, you couldn’t help but stifle a laugh, remembering the way he’d face-planted into the pavement right after you.
Su-bong hadn’t looked at you once since standing up. Instead, he turned and jogged after his runaway skateboard.
You stood up again and sat back down on the bench before examining your winds. “Shit..” You mumbled under your breath, hissing in pain.
The scrape on your knee was stinging but you focused on the scrapes on your hands. You whispered some insults towards Su-bong as you got a piece of tissue from your bag and wiped your hand. You sat there for a while, thinking about how you’d walk back to your dorm without being in excruciating pain but your thoughts were interrupted by someone shouting.
“Hey!” You turned your head to the voice and saw Su-bong running towards you, “Shit, sorry.” He apologized, out of breath. “I got a first aid kit from the pharmacy nearby.” He sat down beside you, clearly unsure of how close was too close before pulling out some gauze. “Do you have scissors?” You shook your head and he looked back then ripped the gauze at an appropriate length but when he was about to wrap it around your hand, you pulled away.
“You’re meant to clean, disinfect, and then wrap the gauze.” You corrected, unconsciously leaning closer to him. He slowly looked up at her as his ears grew red. “R-right. Sorry. I’ve never done this before.” He blushed slightly before fumbling with the first aid kit and getting the things needed. “This is going to sting a bit, okay?” He warns once he pulls out the small alcohol spray.
You winced as the alcohol hit your skin. “Shit—that stings.” Su-bong flinched along with you, like he felt it too. “Sorry, sorry! I swear I’m not trying to torture you.” You shot him a look. “Are you sure? You seem suspiciously good at this.” He let out a nervous laugh. “Yeah, well, maybe I’m secretly a villain who ambushes people at skate parks just to… aggressively provide first aid.”
“Oh yeah? What’s your villain name? The Bandage Bandit?” you teased, biting back a smirk. He groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “Please, don’t give me a lame name. At least let me be something cool, like… Doctor Disaster.” You raised an eyebrow. “Doctor Disaster? That sounds like someone who’d forget to clean a wound before wrapping it.” He made a mock-wounded noise. “Hey! Low blow.” “Fitting,” You said, nodding at your stinging hands.
Su-bong chuckled quietly as he wiped the area with more care this time, his touch lighter. “Alright, alright, lesson learned. I’ll take ‘Bandage Bandit’ over ‘Doctor Disaster’ if it gets me forgiveness.”
You pretended to think about it. “Hmm. Maybe. Depends on how well you handle the knee next.”
He immediately perked up, determined but still flushed. “Oh, you’re challenging me now? Okay. Just so you know, I’m about to give top-tier knee care. Like, you’ll be recommending me to all your friends.” You grinned. “Can’t wait to leave a five-star review.”
Su-bong knelt in front of you, reaching for the alcohol spray again. “Okay, ready for round two?” You eyed him warily. “Depends—are you going to Doctor Disaster this one too?” He gave you a lopsided grin, a little breathless. “Nope. This time, you’re getting premium Bandage Bandit service.”
You laughed, but as he leaned closer to reach your knee, you suddenly became very aware of how close he actually was. His hair fell slightly into his eyes, and you noticed the faint dusting of freckles on his nose—things you wouldn’t have noticed from across a classroom or skate park.
He focused on your knee, completely oblivious to the shift in the air. “Okay, this’ll sting a little,” he said softly, like he was trying not to spook you.
When the alcohol hit your skin, you sucked in a breath through your teeth, and his hand instinctively landed on your shin to steady you. The touch was light, but it sent a surprising jolt through you both. His eyes flicked up, meeting yours, and for a second, neither of you spoke.
“Uh—” he cleared his throat, pulling his hand back like your skin had burned him. “Sorry! I just didn’t want you to, like… kick me in the face or something.” You smirked, trying to shake off the heat rising to your cheeks. “Wow, that’s how low you think of me?” He laughed, clearly flustered but trying to keep it cool as he returned to patching you up. “I didn’t say that! Don’t put words in my mouth.” This time, when his fingers grazed your leg to secure the gauze, you both noticed—but neither of you moved away.
“So,” he said after a beat, voice quieter now, “still sticking with that five-star review?” You leaned back on your elbows, teasing, “Hmm. I might have to bump you up to four and a half stars.” He gasped, hand dramatically to his chest. “Four and a half? Harsh. What’d I do?” You grinned. “Docking points for almost breaking my hands earlier.” “Fair.” He shook his head, chuckling as he tied off the bandage. “I’ll earn that half-star back somehow.”
The silence that followed afterwards was no longer awkward and felt different. His hands lingered for a second longer than they should’ve on your knee, and when he finally sat back on his heels, his gaze flickered to your face, as if noticing something new.
He was taken out of the trance he was in by a loud “Oh! I know!” He focused and tilted his head “What?” He asks as he starts putting the things they had used back in the first aid kit. “You can carry my stuff back to my dorm and help me get there.” You smile proudly.
Su-bong blinked, then let out a soft, incredulous laugh. “Wow. Extortion. Classic villain behavior.”
You grinned wider. “I learned from the best,” He stood up, brushing off his jeans, then offered you his hand. “Alright, deal. But only because you’re injured. And because I’m feeling generous today.”
You took his hand, feeling the calluses on his palm as he helped you up. For a second, you swayed, the soreness in your knee making you wince, and instinctively, his other hand settled on your waist to steady you. The two of you froze—again—both painfully aware of how close you’d gotten. “…You good?” he asked, voice suddenly softer, almost nervous.
You nodded, though your heart felt like it had decided to skate a half-pipe inside your chest. “Yeah. Just… don’t let go.”
His lips twitched into a lopsided smile. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
The words hung between you like static in the air, unspoken but heavy. Then, clearing his throat, he quickly stepped back, rubbing the back of his neck as if trying to shake off the tension.
“Okay, so—uh—your dorm?” he asked, voice cracking slightly. You bit back a laugh, enjoying his awkwardness a little too much. “Yeah. It’s not far. You can be my personal porter.” He mock-bowed. “Su-Bong at your service.”
As you handed him your backpack, your fingers brushed, and you swore you felt that jolt again. Maybe it was adrenaline. Maybe it was the pain meds kicking in. Or maybe it was just Su-bong being… well, unexpectedly kind of cute.
CHAIN OF ARMOUR | DAE-HO (PLAYER 388)

an: this might be my favourite piece i’ve written for some time. it’s lengthier, so sweet it’ll melt your heart (it melted mine!), and say hello to the other characters for me would you? feedback and requests are always welcomed. enjoy! <3
“players, please prepare for bed. you have ten minutes until lights out.”
there was something in the air. something ugly and perverse, and you saw it every time you glanced to the other side of the hall. every time you made eye contact with a man. the hunger in their gaze wasn’t for food, but for you. maybe to the other women around you, too, but with the amount of eyes settling on you, it felt personal. targeted.
the longer you sat silent in the company of your group, the more you seemed to focus on the unease growing in your stomach. the more you seemed to catch the occasional word from the other side of the room. pretty girl, they said without enough worry about being discreet. so little, they whispered.
it’s only when you caught parts of their plans for you that the heat drained from your body, along with any semblance of confidence that you’d had earlier of surviving the night.
but maybe survival isn’t what you wanted if they did get ahold of you. maybe death is what you were really after. the guards, always eager to pull the triggers of their big black guns, but would they grant you that mercy? would they interfere with games? with the immorality threatening you from what felt like every corner?
the call of your name was gentle.
you glanced up and caught dae-ho’s soft eyes. the warmth returned so quickly to your body, you wondered if the sun had been made obsolete.
he sat opposite you on the benches your group settled around, lunch trays strewn messily over the floor as you finished up your supper.
“yes?” you replied, but the shakiness of your voice was evident even through one word.
dae-ho glanced down at your hand and you followed his gaze. your carton of milk a crumpled mess, squished to the point that milk oozed out the hole your straw poked through. you gasped at the milk trickling down your wrist, and quickly wiped your skin with the sleeve of your jacket.
he watched you with a frown, concern knitting his brows together. “are you alright?” he asked, the softness of his words tinged with the worry bubbling in his chest.
you nodded, too quickly to quash his suspicion, and the squeak of your “yes!” was the icing on the cake.
dae-ho sighed and pushed himself to his feet, crossing the small distance between you to settle at your side. he wordlessly used the sleeve of his own jacket to wipe up droplets of milk you hadn’t even realised had dropped onto the thighs of your sweatpants.
“you don’t need to worry,” he said quietly, close enough for only you to hear. he lifted the edge of his jacket to your face and tilted your head to wipe up a little trickle of milk from you neck. “how hard were you squeezing?” he gasped quietly, brushing one final drop from your cheek with the pad of his thumb.
you sheepishly lowered your head. he pressed his thigh against yours, a silent show of support, and his way of encouraging you to meet his gaze once more. you did, and nearly flinched at the worry that brought out the tiny fine lines in his forehead.
“i mean it,” he repeated. “i won’t let anything happen to you. not now, not ever.”
you wanted to believe him. you wanted to believe he could fight off all those men, all those who wished you harm. but he was only one man, and no matter how mighty and brave, no matter how hard he would fight for you, you knew he wasn’t a superhero. he couldn’t beat impossible odds, no matter how hard he would try to.
suddenly that feeling gnawed at your stomach again. you wanted to leap into dae-ho’s arms, let him shield you from the dark, scary world. the monsters you feared would get bold in the dark. but you couldn’t. you could only glance back across the hall, at the hungry gazes stuck on you like an angry, unrelenting wasp.
dae-ho called your name again, but this time you couldn’t look up. he repeated it, his hand lifting to catch you cheek, trying to block your view of the men. trying to refocus your attention to him, to the man who would stretch and tear himself into three, five, seven, however many bodies he needed to become your hero.
but it was jung-bae who got through to you. the short and stout man who warmly took you under his wing, who accepted you as a little chick in his bird nest, and who gave you a father figure in a place that felt far from home.
“you’re trembling like a leaf!” he gasped, his own hands plucking up yours, before leaning in closer to examine your face. he caught your chin in his fingers. “what is it, chicken? what’s bringing you such fright?”
his comfort drew you closer, and you shifted closer until your head fell against his shoulder. “i’m worried… about tonight,” you said, sneaking a nervous glance to the other side of the room.
the o’s. although they matched the numbers on your side, their presence was twice as ominous, and it would only be worse under the veil of darkness fast approaching. the tension slowly spread through your muscles, and suddenly it was no longer just your hands shaking. legs, arms, anything that could contract, trembling as you pictured the men across the room as only silhouettes. your thigh bumped into dae-ho’s, and he caught it with one of his big hands, holding it flush against his. he traced patterns over the cotton of your sweatpants.
but you were only growing more tense.
jung-bae gasped, pulling his hands from yours. “ow!” he cried, rubbing soothing circles into the palms of his hands, looking to you with surprise. “such strength in such a little girl!” he said, and you caught a glimmer of playfulness in his wide eyes.
your head sank sheepishly. “sorry, sir,” you apologised.
“and yet, the manners of a princess!” he exclaimed, approval rife in taking your hand to squeeze. he lifted it, shaking it along as he said, “a princess has no reason to fear with her noble guards around to protect her.”
you held his gaze and tried to smile, tried to believe him, tried not to think about the hungry gazes harassing you from the other side of the room. you couldn’t help look up, see the danger targeted right at you in the lick of lips, in the sly grins, and suddenly the shaking in your hands vibrated through jung-bae’s body.
“young-il!” suddenly your hand was swept in the direction of your newest ally, and jung-bae shook it as he said, “strong, clever, fierce.”
young-il nodded firmly, a confident smile pulling at the corners of his lips as he held your gaze, but you were quickly locking eyes with gi-hun as jung-bae warmly said, “gi-hun! loyal, determined, kind.”
the warmth of his eyes was all the convincing you needed, but gi-hun still reached out to squeeze your shoulder reassuringly. that’s the kind of man he was.
“jung-bae,” jung-bae said of himself, slapping your hand into his chest this time. “marine,” he said, lifting his other arm into a flex of his bicep, and while you saw no activation in the muscle, somehow it didn’t matter. it was the pride in his eyes, the conviction in his tone as he said, “wise as time,“ and you believed him. “and handsome as brad pitt.”
the widening of your eyes preceded your surprised giggle, but you couldn’t cover you mouth in time to suppress it.
jung-bae’s eyes blew wide again. “she laughs!” he accuses in mock disbelief, glancing between the other men in your group, before settling back on you. “many women say jung-bae is the one that got away!” he insists, but only grins wider as you stifle more of your little giggles.
your hand still in his thrown around again as he pretends to take offence, but he soon eases into calmness again, before leaning in closer.
“don’t forget, there are two marines here,” he said quietly, and you barely caught the flash of mischief in his eyes before he suddenly straightened his back, snapping his other hand into a click as he commanded “dae-ho!” with such authority that he jumped immediately to attention.
“yes, sir!” he shouted back, unflinching as his chopsticks crashed and clanged on the hard floor under his feet.
jung-bae’s chest swelled with approval. “are you afraid?!” he commanded.
“no, sir!”
“of men?”
“no, sir!”
“of the dark?”
“no, sir!”
you caught the sly smirk jung-bae shot you, before asking, “of jung-bae?”
“no, sir!”
his face dropped into a scowl, and he swatted a hand to the side of dae-ho’s shoulder, landing a blow right against the ink of his marine tattoo. dae-ho didn’t even flinch, back still straight and standing tall, his eyes fixed ahead with determination.
jung-bae asked one final question of him. “what of the men, the oh’s, behind you?”
a beat is not skipped when dae-ho sharply insisted, “no, sir!”
jung-bae slowly turned back to face you, a warm confidence as he said, “the dark is frightening. it’s where monsters live, where evil lurks. but what can defeat the dark?” he asked, leaning back ever so slightly to let you ponder, inviting you to look at the three other men in your alliance. each one stared back warm, kind, determined, and when jung-bae leant back in, you understood him when all he gently said is “light.”
you couldn’t seem to look away as dae-ho held your gaze, the quiet confidence radiating from his kind eyes, and suddenly the tension in your muscles faded away. the trembling of your hands subsided, and you weren’t gripping onto jung-bae’s hand so tightly.
dae-ho offered you sincerity when he promised, “they’ll have to get past us to get to you,” he said. “through me.”
he offered his hand out, and jung-bae lifted your hand to meet dae-ho’s. you took it, fingers interlocking as he gently but effortlessly pulled you up from the bench. he rested your entwined hands against his chest, leaning down to press a kiss to your skin. he gazed down into your eyes.
“i would set all the money in the world on fire to keep you safe,” he said so gently, you swore your knees would give out. “let me be your light,” he referenced jung-bae, nodding a head toward the cluster of your bunks. “stay with me tonight, in my bunk.”
you didn’t need to think about it. “please,” you whispered, holding onto his hands tighter.
the corners of his lips stretched into a smile softer than his breath on your knuckles as he kissed your hands again.
he climbed up the benches towards the bunks, stopping patiently after each step to turn and help you up. your legs were shorter than his, and he didn’t want to risk you catching your knee on a sharp corner and getting a bruise. but when you got to the ladder of his bunk, he dropped your hand to take purchase on your hips, lifting you with ease up the first few rungs.
he followed after you, glancing up and holding a hand out just in case you lost your footing.
“careful,” he warned as you approached the shelf of his bunk, rushing up the last few steps just to reach out and cover the sharp corner of the bunk above. you ducked your head under it, and his hand dropped to your lower back to help guide you in.
he joined you on the thin mattress after you settled down.
“are you cold?” he asked, fingers catching the zip of his jacket, waiting for your command.
“a little,” you admitted, but stopped him from declothing himself by placing a hand over the zipper on his chest. you lifted your eyes to find his. “can you lay with me? please.”
dae-ho’s gaze softened. “yeah,” he breathed gently, and you wondered where his voice had gone. he slowly lowered himself onto his back, one arm spreading out for you to curl up to his side. when you did, he closed his arm around your body and secured you in place. to him.
you nuzzled into his side. everything about him was so safe, and you wondered if it was the lingering scent of his shampoo or his gentle breathing that made your eyes heavy.
he held you, gentle but firm, while the others in your group climbed and settled into the surrounding bunks. the presence was suffocating in the best way. all around you, a friendly face, a willingness to shield you from danger, and for once in your life, a selection of men you could count on.
it dawned on you, like this, that jung-bae was right. the ease in your chest came down to the shield around you, the men willing to protect you for no reward, for no recognition. everything to gain by letting you get eliminated in the dark of night, and everything to lose by letting you live. but yet, they chose the latter. they chose to guard you. their princess.
and even as the lights turned out, when the shadows played tricks on your eyes, your hands didn’t tremble. they laced with dae-ho’s, who pulled you in closer, lips pressing against yours in a silent promise.
“i’ll see you in the morning,” he whispered.
as the heaviness in your eyelids became too much to fight off any longer, you took one last moment to savour the warmth radiating from his body. only then, with your head in his chest, the chill leaving your body, did you realise that yes, so long as dae-ho was here, the sun was obsolete.
i could sleep easy in dae-ho’s arms. please like, comment, reblog. love <3
-in which Ahn Sooho sees the girl of his dreams (whc1 is on Netflix now!! Go watch!!)
Ahn Sooho wasn’t one for wasting time, except for maybe the occasional drinks; he had more on his mind than most middle schoolers had. He had multiple part time jobs just to support himself and his grandmother, but there was always a gnawing feeling in his heart. It was almost as if he was yearning for something. Not money, but a person.
“Sooho… are you sure you’re fine?” Beomseok asked as he sat next to him.
Sooho had been deep in thought for the past ten minutes, elbow resting on the table as his hand supported his cheek. The boy seemed as if he was coming up with a master plan to take over the school.
“Why is it we never get to see the girls from the school opposite of us? I mean, we’re less than fifteen footsteps away, but we never see them. It’s as if there’s some magical barrier stopping us!” Sooho said as he took a spoonful of rice into his mouth. “They have to be angels or something if their school leaders are so protective of them!”.
Sieun grimaced as he took a tissue and wiped off the rice Sooho had spat onto his uniform. “Maybe swallow your food before you talk? Then you’ll get to see them?”.
Sooho whined to himself as he ate his lunch.

You had never been one to spend much time in the dating scene. Maybe the occasional confession from the boys from Byuksan Middle School but none of them had ever caught your eye. You were one of the girls who could be described by the word ‘sweetheart’. Whether it was true or not, the boys at Byuksan Middle School couldn’t care less.
Maybe it was true, your grades weren’t stellar or your piano skills weren’t amazing, but you were amazing enough to have people admire you.
It was around six in the afternoon as you made your way out of school, walking on the designated pavements as you took a step out the school gate. The cold winter air was starting to arrive and you pulled your brown coat closer to your body, hoping it would be enough to keep you warm until you arrived home. Your AirPods were in your ears, a classical song playing. The piano and violin made your steps fast as you walked down the hill from the school to the bus stop. That was, until your AirPods decided to die.
“Shit…” you muttered as you stopped, taking out the case from your pocket and putting your AirPods in them. Instead, you took out wired headphones from your bag pack as you untangled them.
“Oh Mama!”
You looked up in confusion at the exclamation as you saw a boy, definitely around your age, clasping his hand over his mouth with his eyes wide as he looked straight at you from across the street. He was tall, very tall. Had a weird haircut but his face made up for it.
Your eyes went from his hair, eyes, lips then his uniform as the familiar logo caught your eye.
“Byuksan Middle School,” you muttered as you smiled politely at the boy but quickly made your way to the bus stop, knowing the type of guys that roamed in that school.
There was no in between; nerds, delinquents, bully victims and then you have the type where their only weakness is their personal problems.
From the sight of his muscles, he was definitely a delinquent type.
“Not my cup of tea” you muttered to yourself as you put your earbuds in.

Sooho was starstruck. The poor lovesick fool sat in the cafeteria with a big grin. Sieun and Beomseok shared a look as Sieun snapped his fingers in front of the boy’s face.
“Are you sick or possessed?” Sieun said as he sat back in his seat, unapproving.
“If you’re not feeling well, we could just eat in the classroom? Or go to the nurse’s office?”Beomseok suggested as Sooho suddenly slammed his fists on the cafeteria table in determination, causing Beomseok and everyone in the area to flinch from the sudden sound.
“I’m going to find her,” Sooho suddenly stated in resoluteness.
Sieun raised an eyebrow as he said, “Who?”.
Sooho simply gave him a smirk.

Sieun could’ve slapped his friend right then and there. Sooho had dragged the two to the same spot he had seen you the previous day, wanting them to experience the same eye-opening experience.
“I have Math Academy, you idiot. I need to go,” Sieun said as Sooho had a tight grip on his coat still.
“No, you’re not getting it! If you had seen her, you’d be lovestruck too! The way she walked down the hill with the wind in her hair!” Sooho said as he practically had heart eyes, his expression dreamy.
Beomseok had a smile as he said, “Okay, let’s see if she’s here today. Do you remember how she looks like?”.
“Are you kidding? I’m pretty sure I saw her in my dreams last night. Or was it this morning? I can’t remember. Her face is imprinted…” Sooho said as he grasped his hand over where his heart was, his expression desperate, “In my heart”.
Sieun had his eyebrows furrowed as he looked at his friend in disgust, “Good Lord”.
“Girls from the school down the street are known for being pretty. Maybe you’re right, she’ll really have us that smitten too” Beomseok spoke, trying to understand Sooho’s behaviour.
“Right on the jackpot my friend!” Sooho said as he gave Beomseok a slap on the back.
It had been well over an hour and Sieun wasn’t happy. The boy had a frown as he kept checking the clock on his phone. Most of the girls from the school down the street had gone home, and it didn’t seem like you were coming anytime soon.
“Sooho, maybe she’s already gone home?” Beomseok said as Sooho desperately paced the pavement with Sieun’s jacket in the grip of his left hand, forcing the boy to pace with him.
“It can’t be. She was going home at the same time yesterday!” Sooho said as he looked like a sad puppy.
“Maybe she had extra classes or club activities, idiot. She might’ve had free time after school and went home already,” Sieun said as he took the opportunity to poke Sooho in the side, causing the taller boy to release his grip on his jacket.
Sieun sighed as he said, “Maybe your little fantasy girl will appear tomorrow. Just get to your job already, you’ll be late”. The boy looked at his phone as he grumbled, “I’m already late to my academy, i’ll get going now”.
Beomseok patted Sooho on the shoulder as he reassured his friend, “Maybe Sieun’s right. She’ll be here tomorrow, I can feel it. I’ll accompany you to work, how about that?”.

“Boss! I’m here!” Sooho sang as he walked into the restaurant and went to the back as he put on his apron.
“Sooho! Help me with these orders!” The boss, a woman in her late fifties said as she prepared the food, placing the raw meat on a tray and handing it to Sooho. “There’s also orders for more soda at table five!”.
“Right away ma’am!” Sooho saluted as he got the meat to tables six, two and ten, before going to the fridge to get the four sodas, holding it to his chest as he walked over and placed it on the table.
“Four sodas,” Sooho said as the customer turned and made eye contact with him.
“Oh Mama”.
His breath was taken away right then and there. The idiot couldn’t believe his eyes. Sieun and Beomseok were right. You had gone home. But now you were here, eating barbecue with your friends, at his workplace. Smiling and giggling with them as you engaged in conversation.
“Oh it’s you” you couldn’t help but say as you recognised him.
“Yes, it’s me” Sooho wiped his hands on his apron as he cleared his throat and stood up straight, puffing up his chest.
The other girls at the table couldn’t help but notice the exchange as you asked, “I saw you and your two friends standing outside the school for an hour. What was that about?”.
Sooho gulped. How was he supposed to explain that he had waited for an entire hour with two of his friends just to catch a glimpse of you? You’d think he was a total creep.
“I wasn’t. I.. had to pick up… my cousin!” Sooho said as he tried to play off the situation. “She’s a student there so I had to pick her up. Can’t let her go home on her own. Dangerous world out there”.
The other girls at the table giggled as you raised an eyebrow and scoffed in disbelief, a smile ghosting your lips, “your friend dragged you away from the school, I’m pretty sure. Picking up your cousin? That’s a new one. Usually they outright admit they were waiting for us and beg us for a date”.
Sooho was as finished as the meat on the grill. You had definitely caught on and knew what he was up to. Sooho cleared his throat as he said, “I have a good explanation, I’m sure. Honestly, I just wanted to talk to you. I mean, you’re so pretty and I wanted to ask you out!”.
Sooho realised what he had said as he looked at you in shock. The girls at the table also stopped as they realised what he said rambled. You looked at him, not saying a word, causing the poor boy to sweat till no tomorrow.
“I mean- Only if you’d want to?” Sooho tried to save the situation.
You looked at the boy from his head to his feet as you took in his appearance.
Tall, good looking, hard worker from the fact he was working a part time job so late at night, seems outgoing, hilarious. No cons so far.
“Are you a delinquent?” You asked him as he instantaneously denied it. “No! What would make you even think that?”.
You shrugged, “You just have the look for it”.
“Tell you what, put your number in,” you said as you handed him your phone. A chorus of ‘ooohs’ sounded from the table as Sooho hastily punched in his numbers, his palms sweaty and feeling as if he’d drop the phone at any second.
He left a missed call before handing you back the phone as he said with a sense of confidence, “I’ll text you”.
Sooho walked off to continue serving customers as you were a little taken aback by his sudden confidence. It was… attractive, and you had to admit it. Your friend elbowed you as she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.
“Oh shut up” you said as you rolled your eyes and ate a piece of meat off the grill.
Later that night, you laid in bed in your pyjamas as you got a text.
“Are you up?”.
You rolled your eyes with a small smile as you rolled onto your front, propping yourself up with your elbows as you typed a response back.
“I am. What are you up to?”.
Sooho sat up on the couch in the staff room of the barbecue place as he thought about it. Would you be flattered by the thought of a guy that worked several jobs? Sooho sighed before typing back a response.
“Resting at work”.
You furrowed your eyebrows as you checked the clock on your phone.
“At two in the morning? What time do you get off work?”.
Sooho immediately typed back.
“Five”.
You sat up in your bed, blanket over your shoulders as you did simple arithmetics.
“So you only rest for an hour before school?”.
That was worrying. A middle schooler barely having enough sleep? How’s his grades then if he doesn’t have time to study?
“Are you gonna have enough sleep for school?” You couldn’t help but ask. It wasn’t usual for someone to have to work multiple jobs at your age. Maybe he was saving up for university?
“I will. You should go to sleep. It’s really late. Can’t have you missing out on your beauty sleep to talk to your Prince Charming ;) “.
Sooho cringed at himself while you laughed to yourself under the comfort of your blankets. This boy was funny.
“I’ll go to sleep then, Prince Charming. Good night” you typed back before setting your phone on your nightstand and turning to face the window.
Sooho leaped from the sofa in the staff room as he cheered, wiggling his butt in excitement as he texted the group chat he had with Sieun and Beomseok.
“She said goodnight!!! Thats the biggest achievement ever!!” Sooho texted as he laid on the sofa again, holding his phone to himself as he smiled.

That was about a month ago. You sat on the plastic chair outside the convenience store as you ate your ice cream cone, Sooho on the opposite side of the table. Sooho kept fidgeting as he stole glances at you. He remembers the first time he ever saw you at the school gate and he couldn’t help but be enamoured by you every single time he stared at you.
“Do I have ice cream on my face?” You asked as you looked at Sooho. Sooho seemed to snap out of it as he sat up in his seat, “No, sorry, just falling inlove”.
Sooho often loved to throw flirty remarks like that throughout the month you had gotten to know him. Constant text messages, phone calls, visits to his workplace and he’d come to every single one of your performances at school. Sooho had been preparing himself to confess in a true-blue Sooho manner, but he couldn’t help but feel like this was the perfect moment.
“You don’t have academy tomorrow, right?” Sooho asked casually as he ate his ice cream cone.
You raised a brow, “No, I don’t. Why?”.
Sooho took a deep breath as he said, “I thought we could get a meal after school. You know, you and me, dressed up… maybe even go to that photo booth you’ve wanted to go so bad”.
“So like a normal dinner we always go to? Or is this… a date?” You asked as you looked at him with those eyes he had fallen inlove with.
“A date” Sooho said confidently as you had a smile on your face.
“You know, I’ve been waiting for you to confess” you chuckled to yourself.
Sooho’s jaw dropped. “You’ve liked me this whole time and wanted me to confess?!”.
“Obviously! Shouldn’t the guy confess? Be a gentleman” You teased as you smiled at him.
Sooho couldn’t help but soften at your smile as he looked away, “Fine, maybe you’re right”. A smile was on his lips as he looked at you from the corner of his eyes.
