Finally Finished The Regrowth Prompt For The Wxwood Week, I Think It Turned Out Pretty Okay

Finally got out of my cave to post some art, and by some i mean this singular art piece

Enjoy this quick "hypnos in cool pjs" drawing while i go study for exams again

Ive seen a lot of people draw hypnos with a scythe as his weapon and while i think its really cool, i personally feel like a hammer fits him more because how else can you knock someone out without killing them if not with a blunt weapon? which also fits his personality imo

I like your art. With your recent post, could you explain the scars a bit? I’m not well-versed in mythology. I can tell that Than’s is probably referring to how the story of Sisyphus cheating death involved him trapping Thanatos in chains, but I have no clue on Hypnos. If Hypnos’ isn’t based on mythology, could I ask about your reasoning for the choice?

second, the scars on hypnos are a reference to the myth of heracles (specifically in the illiad), where hera was furious with his antics and wanted to put zeus to sleep while she send storms upon his son when he sailed home

she asked hypnos to help her, which he did, and then she went on to do her bidding. when zeus woke up he knew it was hypnos' work and he was so mad that he beat up the other gods when looking for him

i decided to take my own spin on it and make it so when zeus was searching for hypnos, he send thunder and lightning down to every place on earth from his anger, and one of the lightnings just happened to strike our sleepy god in the back while he was fleeing, resulting in the scar!
