lets be honest here, no matter how many compliments kevin has gotten in his life, he never ever gets used to them, especially if they’re about anything other than exy or his looks. anytime anyone compliments how smart he is or says something nice about his outfit or personality or whatever, he turns as red as a goddamn tomato and you know it. and the cutest thing is he’d like ?? try to hide it ??? but he’s blushing. i know it you know it oprah winfrey knows it obama knows it the aliens know it. we all know it.

a few years after neil and andrew go pro and the minyard-josten rivalry is put to rest, they decide to come out

the rivalry was fun while it lasted but really, andrew and neil just want to be able to be together without having to pretend that they hate it each other (because they don’t, quite the opposite actually)

so they hold a press conference with a trusted reporter (one neil can actually get along with. there’s only minimal banter) and they reveal to the public that they’re in a relationship, have been since college actually

and there’s a lot of backlash

it sparks a discussion that not only affects neil and andrew, but affects every single lgbtqia+ player in the league

should homosexuality be allowed in sports?

exy isn’t as bad as football, but it’s still not great for lgbt players. especially players who are out and planning (or are, in andrew and neil’s case) to go pro

neil is FUMING. andrew is a bit disappointed, but mostly irritated. he wanted to be left alone but now he can’t go anywhere without a microphone being shoved into his face

andrew and neil are hounded by press for weeks. when they play, slurs are hurled at them like grenades

they’re not allowed to give interviews after games anymore (reporters don’t care about the game, and put neil josten in front of a camera when he’s already on edge and pissed off and you will dearly regret it. andrew simply flips off every camera he sees, which is also not good)

neil gets benched for two games after punching a reporter in the face after they said something compeletly insensitive

there is even talk circulating about not letting andrew or neil play at all, at least for the rest of the season

it’s really, really bad

kevin told them this would happen. it’s easier to be straight while playing exy. kevin knows this, and he told andrew and neil that this would happen

but they’re his friends, his teammates, his family

and he can’t stand by and listen to the horrible things said to them or let them be kicked out of the league

andrew is the best goalie to ever exist and neil is a phenomenal striker. barring them from exy simply because they are in love just isn’t right

and it’s time for kevin to face some things about himself as well

so when kevin is asked to hold a press conference with all the big-name exy associates, he has never felt so nervous since college when he told the world the truth about his broken hand and who his father really is

kevin walks into the room, lined with reporters and people responsible for every pro team in america. cameras start flashing immediately

this is kevin day, olympic champion kevin day, son of exy kevin day

he’s easily the most influential person in that room. queen

kevin walks through the room of reporters and cameras and ignores all the questions thrown his way like a queen ignores the people below him

“kevin, kevin day, what are your thoughts on teammates minyard and josten coming out? do you support them?”

“do you think they should be allowed to continue playing?”

“answer the question, mr. day.”

and kevin signals out one, single reporter. the man perks up because he, out of all the reporters in the room, has caught the attention of this exy legend

this is live, broadcasted across the entire country, the entire world, even, and everyone is on the edge of their seats because kevin day is about to speak

“kevin day, should lgbt exy players be barred from the game?”

kevin leans in close to the microphone, his eyes never wavering from the camera trained on his face and says:

“i’m bisexual.”

I am "literally do no care and do not subscribe to gender as a real concept" with a very small dash of "I let people think I'm a girl because it's easier than explaining I'm not" sprinkled on top.

kevin calling wymack dad? love it. kevin begins to call him dad often enough that the foxes accidentally do it too? LOVE that. i feel like kevin might be embarrassed about calling him dad in front of the others at first, but then they would all call him dad to make him feel better. bonus points if someone says "coach dad"

supporting kevin as he figures out how to have a dad is so important and good thank u for thisImagine how Wymack gets choked up the first time he hears Kevin call him “Dad.” It’s too fast and too loud because Kevin had to psyche himself up to do it and everyone stares for a second because Kevin just shouted the word “DAD” across the courtKevin’s face is bright red and he knows he was planning to say something after that but he can’t rememberWymack coughs and makes sure his expression is properly grumpy and says, calm as he can, “Yeah, son?”(They get back to practice but Renee pauses to clasp Kevin’s arm on her way to the goal) (ALSO once all the Foxes are used to calling Wymack dad they do it all the time. The Foxes lying around the meeting room thing in the court while Wymack is trying to get work done in his office and just going “Dad. Dad. Coach Dad. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Dad come out here,”Wymack stomps into the room, shaking a fistful of papers, and shouts that only one of them is actually related to him so they all can get out and leave him alone. He grumbles at them to eat a proper dinner before they go. Can’t have his athletes falling over in the middle of a game because they don’t know how to feed themselves.They’re annoying, but they’re his kids, so what can he do?)

i do literally think keeping jonghyun’s memory alive and loved and sacred is one of the most important things in the world, and i don’t care how silly that sounds. i need the world to never forget how bright and wonderful, how funny, heartfelt and genius he was, how important it is to remember him and honor everything he’s done and everything he was to us and to his family. how this love is the most beautiful and cherished thing and how it keeps the world go round. every year, i miss him so much more. every year, i think that the sheer love for him only grows and increases and doubles in size to the year prior. everything he’s ever touched is drenched in all the love he held inside of him, and now we carry that love into the universe with every little piece of him he left behind; whether it be in songs, in words, in pictures or videos, or smiles and tears. in all the little reassurances he gave us, and that he gave himself. and i hope that everyone can find some strength in those words and in that love and that they remember that there will always, always be a tomorrow. god. i love you so much. i miss you every day like crazy. i talk to the moon and thank him for his kindness. this world is so much brighter thanks to you. i hope you rest peaceful and easy and light and in all the love the world continues to give you.
