By that logic shouldn't you prefer Minneapolis Minnesota? It fits so well

What can the twin cities do to earn your respect :(

Give complete and total power to St. Paul and demolish that fucking K mart and put something useful there instead

"You're not going to take up the usual tools of combat, like bows or swords, to defeat the Dark Lord?" "No. I was an engineer on Earth, and now I find myself isekai'd to a place where I'm not bound by limitations like the square-cube law or thermodynamics. I'm gonna make some REAL weird shit!"

I went to see the transhumance last week and it was an experience! I've lived here for five years and I'd never been to this event despite it being advertised in the library & town hall every year because I thought, it's just cows crossing a town on their way to their summer pastures, it's not that interesting—but I didn't realise that people turned it into a whole party, as people tend to do. When I arrived in town I found that a nearby field had been (temporarily) turned into a car park to accommodate the many, many visitors who came to see the spectacle—and I was like, maybe I've been missing out on something.

The town was festooned with tassels and garlands (some of the cows were also festooned, with big pompons on their horns) (festoon is a really great English word.) When I arrived there was a thriving little market with several cheese stands, because of course people would take this opportunity to sell their cheeses. They also sold bread, fruit, and cow milk-based desserts including ice-cream, so you were covered if you wanted lunch. (Unless you're lactose intolerant. I'm sorry.)

There were also folk dancers, and a contest going on where you had to guess the weight of an absolutely massive bull (see above). (My guess was way off, he weighed 1 200 kg!) There was a stand with a guy selling beautiful, framed photos of his cows. In one photo a cow was whispering something in her friend's ear. Nearby some prize cows were waiting to be paraded around and one of them was wearing a halter with a little heart <3

(I was invited for apéritif at a neighbour's house a few months ago, he's a retired farmer and he had old Kodak photos of his cows from the 1980s and 90s all over his house. He remembered their names and personalities.)

There was also a stand selling a dizzying variety of cow bells, and I've been resisting the temptation to buy a cow bell for five years now because, well, it's such a cliché tourist thing to buy, but I will probably end up buying one someday. It's hard to resist their allure. I'm not sure which of my animals will have to deal with the humiliation of wearing a bell for a few hours and being photographed cosplaying as a cow against his will.

(Definitely Pirlouit.)

I was buying an ice-cream and asking the vendor if the cows were fashionably late when finally, the herds started arriving. One herd would cross the town, with onlookers clapping and cheering (including from their balconies), then people went back to buying cheese and watching the dancers or the brass band, and commenting on the prize cows strutting on the plaza, then another herd would arrive half an hour later and children would run ahead to warn everyone "They're coming!" (kids love being sentinels) and people would eagerly gather again to clap and cheer as they walked past, and it went on like this all day. You'd think you might get tired of eating ice-cream and clapping for cows but no, people were still enthusiastic when the last herd came.

Imagine being a local cow, and every year when your owners take you to your summer pastures in the mountain you cross a town where people are eating cow milk ice-cream and clapping for you gratefully as you walk past, and buying cow merch (like bells) and admiring an exhibit of framed photos of you and your friends, and watching cow supermodels walking the catwalk on the plaza, and just as you think you've reached maximum levels of appreciation you reach the entrance of town and there's a lifesized statue in your honour in the middle of the roundabout. These cows must have such solid self-esteem.

one thing ive always loved about fullmetal alchemist brotherhood is that it never begrudges a person their revenge. it never paints them as evil or worse than the object of their outrage. fullmetal alchemist will never tell a victim they have not earned their anger, or that it is not right. it does not speak against revenge because your anger is wrong. it only says that you must be careful - that vengeance may destroy you and the ones you care for if you let it consume you.

when mustang hears that scar is ishvalan, he says that, in many ways, his killing of state alchemists is justified, although he's still not keen to become a victim of it. when scar is faced with the daughter of the doctors he killed, he bows his head and tells her that justice is hers to deliver, and that he will not fight if she chooses to bestow it. roy is never told that he must forgive envy, or that hes wrong to want them dead; only that, should he choose to kill them, he will no longer be the kind of man he wants to be. the kind of man he can be. they all agree that envy must die - ed never says that roys anger or grief is unjustified, that his vengeance wouldnt be deserved. instead, he asks "is that the face you plan to wear when you lead this country?" he says your anger is earned, your violence is justified. if you burned them to death like you wanted to, no one would say they did not do it to themself. but is a man who burns a defeated enemy to death the kind of man you want to be?

when scar finally decides to stop killing state alchemists, he doesnt do it because he has learned to forgive, or because they do not deserve it. there is no forgiveness for the things amestris has done to his people, and arakawa never suggests that there could be. rather, he stops killing state alchemists because he cannot build a better world on top of more corpses. his anger is justified, but his violence will breed more violence, his hatred more hatred. it will kill him if he does not stop it first, and it will lead his people to even further ruin if he cannot escape it.

fullmetal alchemist never says that revenge is evil, or that your anger is not reasonable. it only asks, do you know the cost of taking that vengeance? is that the kind of man you want to be?

First image is a screenshot of a tumblr post by @hoofpeet that reads, "why are all pride flags just stripes make that shit like Wales". They then reblogged themselves with an image of the trans pride flag with the red dragon from Wales's flag superimposed on it, captioned "slap a fuckin dragon on there" followed by 20 exclamation points

You know I will actually

orange and pink lesbian pride flag with a white, wingless, scaled medieval dragon surrounded by many tongues of flame in the same colors as the stripes of the flag.
pan pride flag with a yellow phoenix in the center with yellow and pink fire at its base. The wings of the phoenix have pink and blue accents. In each corner, there is a pink and yellow sun with a long ray reaching towards the flaming phoenix.
six-color rainbow gay pride flag with a rearing alicorn, or winged unicorn. The body of the alicorn is pale blue and the wings, hooves, and horn are rainbow colored, with a six-armed radial star behind it in alternating colors of the flag.
ace pride flag with a black pentagon in the center, inside of which is an owl mid-flight that is made of the same colors as the flag, with a predominantly gray and purple body. Above the owl in the pentagon is a yellow star trailing purple tails, and in the black stripe of the flag, there are two opposing purple and gray stars trailing purple tails, like comets.
genderfluid pride flag with a blue heraldic Shield in the center, inside of which is a winged dolphin. A wiggly purple triangle zigzags behind the dolphin, and a pink and purple lotus sits at the point of the shield beneath it.
nonbinary pride flag with a white heraldic shield in the center. At the top of the shield are three frogs, alternating purple and black, below which is a thick black line. Beneath the line is a yellow sun with purple straight rays and black wiggly rays.
trans pride flag with a blue hippocampus, or water horse, in the center. The fins are pink, and the mane is brown.
bisexual pride flag with concentric squares of white, blue, purple, and pink in the center. In the center of the square, on a field of white, is a five-headed hydra with a four-legged body. The hydra is black and white striped, has blue, purple, and pink wings and claws, and is wearing a white collar with the flag colors on it.
intersex pride flag, which consists of a field of yellow with a purple dragon curled into a circle in the center. Its wings extend above it, and it is biting its own tail.
