Recognizing the fact that Percy wasn't the only one who was abused in his home as a child
Chiron gaslighting Percy and constantly withholding information from him and Jason (as far as I remember)
Thalia's childhood and overall importance to the narrative
Bianca was a 12 yr old girl who made mistakes and shouldn't be hated for her decisions
Hylla -Twice Kill- Ramirez Arellano
Phoebe the Hunter
EVERY Big Three Kid getting the chance to go all out on a person or a monster!!! Not just the boys, I mean Thalia and Hazel too!!
Annabeth's rocky relationship with her mother and how they should have a conversation abt it
Hazel should've been allowed to explore her powers over precious metals instead of letting her use the Mist e.g. controlling weapons (yes ik the rating was for kids but come on there's a bunch of ways you could've done this)
The potential of Octavian, Reyna and Jason mirroring Luke, Annabeth and Thalia
Camp Jupiter being fleshed out more and having more depth
Percy and Jason shouldn't have fought over leadership
Jason literally being replaced in his own camp and getting mocked for no longer being Roman even tho he was replaced by a Greek
Reyna and Jason's friendship
Dakota
The potential of Thalia and Nico being friends
Percy's mistreatment throughout the first 5 books from CHB
Thalia should've been in the room during the final fight in tlo
Rachel Elizabeth Dare is a wonderful character and doesn't deserve the hate just because she threatened the development of Percabeth
JASON AND THALIA SHOULDVE HAD MORE TIME TO DEVELOP AND BE TOGETHER
The only couple that should've been on the Argo II was Percabeth
The caleo plot line should've been a platonic relationship at best cause they both deserved better. Say what you want abt Calypso but she deserved to be freed. also, GIVE LEO A SELF LOVE PLOT LINE!!
Showing us how Leo learned to not be so afraid of using the powers that he believes killed his mother
I still think that Rick could've done something with the ' a Greek and a Roman born as siblings for the first time in centuries thing'
The implication that Thalia at 12 yrs old literally got torn apart by a pack of hellhounds on that hill (see tlt and hoh for proof)
Jason and Percy's rivalry should've either been caused by jealousy for the other having something they longed for (e.g. Jason wanted a family and a close relationship with his sister and a Camp that cared abt him.)
(Percy wanted Demigods to have a safe place to go and he definitely hated waking up in the forest alone with no memory surrounded by wolves)
Annabeth and Jason should've had more time spent together developing a friendship or a sibling relationship as they share an older sister
Rick failed at writing the Aphrodite Cabin and could've done better with the Hunters
Is it really necessary to have every major character be a cabin counselor?
Jason is the son of Jupiter yet he's only met Zeus.
Will's trauma from losing 2 of his brother's and being forced into a leadership position at a VERY young age should've been discussed more
Does anyone know what happened to the remaining Demigods from the Titan Army? Did they die? Did they run away? Were they offered a place at Camp, what???
who was responsible for telling the parents of the Demigods who died during botl and tlo and how did they even do it?
Why tf did Chiron make a 14 Yr Old boy tell a 10 yr old his sister was dead???
Drew Tanaka has the potential to be a layered and interesting character but Rick wrote her as a stepping stone for Piper
Instead of having everyone minus Leo be in a relationship on the Argo II, it should've just been Percabeth, who are the oldest (minus Hazel) and most experienced (slightly minus Jason) mentoring the others and helping them learn how to use their abilities and work as a team
Jason and Piper should've spent hoo learning who they are and who the other person is so they can learn to trust and depend on each other instead of jumping into a relationship right off the bat
Also they should've been the founders of the Leo protection squad just saying
Was losing daedalus' computer AND Luke's dagger necessary?
Percy should've spoken up when they were contemplating leaving Nico in the jar
The way Percy got all his memories back while Jason DIDN'T
Perseus means to 'Destroy' and Jason means 'to Heal' I think this could've been a great thing to talk about and https://www.tumblr.com/starlightshadowsworld/744309856211697664/this-exactly-like-were-told-time-and-time-again?source=share this post explains it better and credits to @rowlev and @starlightshadowsworld for it.
Thalia's relationship with the hunters is definitely a lot more complicated than we think, see this post -> https://www.tumblr.com/caffeinatedflumadiddlebutpjo/645485477726715904/i-am-having-feelings-about-thalia-grace-everyone?source=share for a better explanation
Why were Nico and Percy the only ones to go apeshit on a monster/goddess/person? What about Jason, Hazel and Thalia? yes ik Hazel fought Paisphae in HOH but that was the mist and not her actual powers over jewels and other Pluto/Hades abilities that we could've explored. Jason is praised for defeating Krios on his own as well as the trojan sea monster yet we don't get to see him go all out or put in a situation where he's pushed to the brink and is forced into a fit of rage. No, seeing Thalia turn to ice wasn't enough I need more.
Also I know it was mainly about the 7+Nico and Reyna but what if we got a perspective of Thalia or Hylla right after Reyna and Nico escaped from Orion? what if we got to see how that fight went? what if we saw Hylla and Thalia beating the absolute shit out of Orion like Nanami and Itadori did to mahito in jjk season 1? cause you can't tell me that both Thalia and Hylla wouldn't have just straight up used him as a punching bag after he killed their friends and comrades.
Children of the Big Three Do. Not. Just. Apply. To. The. Boys! I will fight you.
What kind of drawbacks do you think washing away the Curse of Achilles done to Percy? Demigods already have bad luck, Percy and Thalia especially, since they were the products of a broken Oath.
Rick shipping one person with another much older person (see Annabeth who had a crush on Luke who was 7yrs older than her and was implied to have returned said feelings during tlo when he was 24 and she was 16. As well as fans who dislike Frank for being 16 while Hazel was 13 and Calypso and Leo which speaks for itself. y'know?)
People are allowed to feel torn/conflicted about Silena's actions during the war
Writing off single characters into the Hunters of Artemis is not the best way to wrap up arcs. (FYI I love the hunt and think it's cool but I just think that Thalia and Reyna could've has a different ending to their arcs)
The fact that Thalia is always pushed out of the picture when it comes to the Broken Trio dynamic even tho she plays a major role in it see this post -> https://www.tumblr.com/aetherialpiplup108/743363216863887360/so-ive-always-been-a-little-upset-at-the-way?source=share for more info
pls list things I may have missed or add your own below. here's the link for part 2 -> https://www.tumblr.com/automaticcatsandwich/748806951406813184/things-i-wish-was-brought-uptalked-abt-more-in?source=share
They’re playing superheroes <3
literally need this NOW (but willing to wait)
Concept: Jason and Leo are the ones to fall into Tartarus.
To storm or fire they both will fall.
Jason’s trying so hard, fighting against the pull of Tartarus to fly them to the ship. But Jason’s already tired and Tartarus is so much stronger then him.
Leo’s terrified but smiles anyway and tells Jason it’s okay. Jason releases his power and goes limp in his arms.
He tells Percy to keep an eye on everyone as they both plummet.
Leo using his fire to light a way and keeping them both warm. He makes a makeshift shelter and is relieved when his tool belt has some first aid supplies.
His jokes become more and more flat the longer they’re down there.
But Jason laughs every time.
Jason falls back on what he learned in the Wolf House. He patrols the area and his sword is covered with dust. He doesn’t let go of his sword even when there’s no monsters around.
There’s a tiredness that hangs over him but Jason can’t sleep. Leo wants to say something but he can’t either. Sometimes he thinks he’s weighing Jason down.
And then Jason wraps his arms around him and in a heartbreaking whisper says I’m glad I have you.
Leo goes to the Phlegethon to heal them both. It does the job but has the unintended effect of bringing back Jason’s memories. It’s a relief but there’s a new kind of pain that comes with the Romans betrayal.
Leo tries to apologise for that but Jason won’t let him.
It also erases the false memories Hera gave them both. And they resolve to make new ones when they get out.
“You know I’d kill for one of your tacos right now.”
“Yeah? Let me sleep for a millennia and I’ll make you one.”
Also the rest of the seven are trying to figure out how to fly the ship and do all the things they need.
And realising huh maybe we shouldn’t have given Leo so much shit.
AROMANTICISM. YOU AGREE. REBLOG
I can't write a better intro than the Joel-man himself, so. Here. Yippee!
Joel is a Electro Sword user, most likely in the On-Field and DPS roles, hailing from Inazuma.
Specifics and thought process following under the cut.
Element and Weapon: Joel's willingness to be a (politely) abrasive force of self-acknowledgment plays right into the Electro thematics of distinct and unusual identity, and the kind of "aware denial" many of them seem to have. He knows what he's doing; he does it anyways. For the weapon, the man made a sword fight club, so. He's a sword fighter. Simple.
Region and Affiliations: Between its closeness to the ocean and the Japanese aesthetic aligning with Joel's current build style and love of Japan, Inazuma was unquestionably the pick for Joel. I can imagine Lizzie (Ocean Queen form, of course) being involved with the Sangonomiya shrine, so I placed Joel on Watatsumi island specifically to be closer to that styling; I could also see him ending up there simply because he's not playing along with the Vision Hunt Decree. He might even still be a tanuki of some kind, as I see in a lot of fanart of him - but if he is, he's definitely not open about it.
Constellation: Joel likes to play with obviously false or thin self-aggrandizement, so Charta Coronam (Paper Crown) is where I ended up. (I think someone once joked that the Mezalean King's crown was made of paper, as well - feels right to me.) The stars would follow the points of the crown, including one that's creased and folded over on itself to show its falseness.
Special Dish and Event Wish: While I don't exactly know what a country full of armor stand clones would eat, Mezalean Cuisine is referencing Joel's Empires SMP empire from season 1, Mezalea (in Genshin terms, it'd probably be his village tucked somewhere on the island). And with the tongue-in-cheek-ness that exclamation points can add, at Joel's behest, his wish declares him The Best, Ever, At Everything!
Ascension and Talent Materials: The Sango Pearl ties Joel to Watatsumi Island even more, and being an ocean item leans into his love of the Ocean Queen Lizzie from Empires Season 1. While the ubiquity of the Hilichurl Mask makes it a simple choice, it also could tie into Joel's themes of hiding behind a 'mask' of his arrogance and overinflated confidence, to not have to truly face who he actually is. Or he could just be stealing them to carve into more masks of himself. Or he could just find Hilichurls annoying. He does tend to solve annoyance with violence. The history of Enkanomiya and Watatsumi Island are inexorably bound, and the Dragonheir's False Fin comes from fighting a threat to both, essentially. It's also a fin that developed out of aesthetic more than use, and out of the creature's hatred directly, and I think Joel would appreciate spite so strong you evolve from it. Joel's relationship with Transience and change is very fun, where it entirely depends on whether he's directly in control of it or not if he's Okay with the Change. A fun talent tree to develop. And considering Joel's history, having to fight essentially one's own godly creation in order to allow it to change is thematically appropriate, in my eyes. Tears of the Calamitous God also reference convictions being strong enough to challenge calamity, and the Mezalean King was so convinced the demon didn't exist that it Literally Never Appeared to Him, so. He's clearly got something going on there.
Elemental Skill: Much conversation and humor around Joel centers around obsession - him being obsessed with other people, them being obsessed with him, or him being Self-Obsessed. I think making infinite clones of yourself meant to explode and die for you is. A very Joel way to deal with the topic (the King Joel TCG card has a Clone ability). Also of course Joel gets a taunt mechanic - he loves to taunt people!
Elemental Burst: If Empires Season 1 Joel was so convinced that the lore wasn't real that it couldn't touch him, Empires Season 2 Joel was fully willing to use (and abuse) The Power of Lore. Saying "Lore" three times was how he got his trident of Stratos, and considering the Zeus-ian implications of a lightning god in a Greek-style empire, it fit well into an Electro character as a nice burst, hurling lightning at people.
Talents and Constellation Upgrades: There's a common phrase (and song) that goes "Anything You Can Do, I can do better", which fits Joel and his competitiveness very well. So if he's running around with allies better than him, he'll rise to the challenge. Obsession continues on theme for Joel - his rare TCG card ability Obsess gets more powerful the more you have of him. In addition to building timelapses, Joel is also fond of including a Material Montage in his video, usually with some twist on the commentary or music over it just to mess with the editor.
Joel traded his way to the music disc permit in Season 10, and has been making his own custom songs for a while. In reference to the shop and the song, you spin him right round, baby, right round, Like A Record, baby- Joel's relationship with his viewers involves a lot of (good-natured) bullying, and he often greets them with "Hey Losers". Channeling and Loyalty are two strong enchantments for a trident, as the one that lets you make lightning and the one that lets it come back after thrown - perfect for Strike of Stratos! So the whole Neck Kisses came from a misspeak during the Decked Out 2 Guest Day; it's now cemented enough to be a Rare TCG ability for him. Joel just lives with it now. The Mezalean King's army of clones required him to have an extensive Spare Head Collection to make them out of, back in Empires season 1. One of Joel's most throughline bits is a tumultuous relationship between Minecraft Joel and Editor Joel in the most fourth-wall-breaking manner, often involving the Minecraft or 'live' Joel Yelling at the Editor to make something happen. Also the idea of including a 'timelapse' to mess with real-world time is funny to me.
Other Thoughts:
I don't have many process thoughts; I do feel like in-world, Joel worked on establishing himself a nickname to keep from being called "Beans", and the ill luck of ending up with "Smallish" is too funny not to consider.
that’s so real bro… I fear I would follow in your footsteps
Don’t leave me alone near bodies of water I’ll be a part of the bodies in the water bro
I need a fic where Nico attempts to explain his sexuality to Hazel without realising that she's even more bewildered by modern-day terminology than he is
Nico: Hazel... I'm gay. Hazel: Are you sure? Because you seem kind of depressed, actually. Nico: Nico: Hazel–
some similar conversations would include:
Percy: There's no excuse for homophobia! Hazel: Why would you be afraid of homo sapiens? Percy: ??? Piper: Hey, Hazel, are you queer? Hazel: Well, I'm a demigod. Of course I'm queer. Piper: *meant lgbtq* ...what? Hazel: *meant weird/peculiar* What? Frank: Hazel, you're an ally, right? Hazel: *offended* Did you think I might be a Nazi? Frank: What? No, I– Hazel: Are you a Nazi?! Frank: No! No, of– Hazel: *dramatically swoons*
hazel defender for life btw
