The Empty Hearts on the River Bank So many of them left, Walking to the river And wasting away. There, hopes in their Hands and empty hearts, Waiting for the waters To rise. And when the town paper Came out on sunday, dumped on our front step, We read about the Outrage the sorrow Endured by so many. It was finally time to     Get the hell outta town.     Out there, among the winds     A better way lay waiting,     Whispering life's only secret.
