princetenjolras:
I used to legitimately worry about whether I had the “right face shape” for short hair, until one day it dawned on me that short hair is compulsory for all men here in the US and nobody gives a shit whether they have the “right face shape” for it. And I’ve never heard any beauty advice implying that there is a “wrong face shape” for long hair on women either. Despite the artistry that does goes into the beauty industry, it exists first and foremost to enforce societal standards, and fuck that noise ok, the face shape bullshit is clearly dishonest and biased at best and a total myth at worst. Cut your hair any way you damn well want to and if it doesn’t look good it’s because you have a shitty ass barber ok not because you weren’t the right shape for it }:/
I'm always coming across people saying one of two things about wolfstar 1) It makes no sense and 2) it would be toxic as hell if it ever happened...
All of which makes me wonder what on earth set of books they were reading because from Remus's voice shaking with some suppressed emotion when he sees Sirius for the first time in twelve years, to his voice sounding like every word was causing him pain after Sirius's death we see them be nothing but gentle, respectful and affectionate with each other.
Anyway - I'm currently re-reading Bite and Prejudice which is my wolfstar Jane Austen AU and I just came across this paragraph which, although it is written in flouncy regency language (and was paraphrased from another which was originally about Lizzie and Darcy), sums up exactly why Remus and Sirius work so perfectly together in canon:
He thought too how their dispositions and tempers - though markedly different from the other - would suit each other perfectly and bring out only the best. How Remus’s tendency to self deprecation, his dry wit and steady temper would deflate the worst of Black’s pride, stick a pin in his self importance and keep his readily admitted propensity to take offence and never give up a grudge in check. Likewise, Black’s ardent nature, his loyalty and tenderness, his capacity for love and his great passion for life would pull Remus out of his own melancholy, make a mockery of his self pity, and make him laugh when he was inclined to be maudlin. Together, Remus thought, they made one very good sort of man. Apart they must always be prey to their own weakness and follies.
Which just goes to show, whatever universe you put them in, wolfstar will always make sense.
reblog to give your mutuals a burned cd
So I have read several people complaining that they can't be expected to know the "unwritten rules" of fandom. So here's what I wish people knew:
Fanfiction is fiction.
Fictional people are not real.
Fictional people do not have rights.
Fictional people cannot be abused.
Reading or writing about something does not mean the desire to do or support it in the real world.
If I find art upsetting/triggering/disgusting/outraging/unpleasant/squicky/distressing/offensive, it is on me not to read it, not the creators and hosts to remove it.
Curate your own experience. The back buttons exist for a reason.
If you don't trust yourself to do that, get someone you trust to do it for you.
Fandom is an adult space. Adults create and own and host fandom spaces. If minors want to participate, then the onus is on them and their parents/guardians/trusted adults to ensure they participate appropriately, not on strange adults to stop being adults.
You often don't know the assault status or mental health status or neurotype or race or nationality or religion or gender or sexuality or age of a creator or consumer, and they do not have to disclose to you to justify their fantasy.
AO3 is not a safe space. It is not intended to be a safe space. Proceed accordingly.
Just because you don't like something or find it offensive doesn't mean it is a "problem" that "has to be dealt with".
Most characters in anime are not white.
There is no onus on you to reblog or share anything.
Everyone makes mistakes in fandom and is less than their best self sometimes.
Persistent pseudonyms encourage long term relationships.
Ship wars are stupid.
Someone else enjoying things does not impact on your own enjoyment of other things.
Tagging and warning is a courtesy, not a requirement. Assume any fic might contain untagged content.
Rating is an imprecise art, not a science.
Don't hassle IP creators.
Most people who are in fandom are hoping to make connections based on a shared passion.
Trying to profit from transformative fanworks puts us all at risk.
No one is obligated to share your head canon or fanon.
Being kind rarely fails to pay off.
It is okay to block and remove people who make your experience unpleasant. You don't have to placate them. (Learn from my mistakes).
Britpicking is a good thing.
You don't have to justify why you like a canon/pairing/trope/kink. Sometimes navel gazing is fun, but you don't have an obligation to explain yourself, especially to strangers. I share the overwhelming desire to refute an unfair accusation, but the people accusing you are rarely doing so in good faith, so you're batting a losing wicket.
I'm not your Mum. (Well, okay, a very few of you can call me Mum or Mom, but if you are one of them you already know who you are ❤️)
If you aren't mature enough to take responsibility for your online experiences, you aren't mature enough to be in fandom spaces.
“There are no female aliens in our game because we don’t know how to make a female version of this alien” You know that alien you just designed? That male alien? Give it a female voice actor and have characters refer to it as she. That’s it. That’s literally all you have to do
Make her shorter if you must
Make her BIGGER if you aren’t a coward
passages that make you whisper "oh my god"
🪩 Posting Day Four 🪩
Another load of female and genderqueer centric works have just dropped!
You can find fics and art in our AO3 collection here
Art can also be found with #HPFemFest2025 art on this page, where we are reblogging everything <3
We will be sharing a masterlist of edits at the end of the fest, but for now edits can be found in the TikTok collection here
Only one more day to go after this! We hope you're loving everything that's been released so far 💞
hi!
I wrote a fic for @hpfemininomenonfest and it's been released!
The fic focuses on the Black sisters and answers why Bella attacked Frank and Alice Longbottom.
What if Bella attacked Frank and Alice, not because she wanted to bring Voldemort back, but because Narcissa finally felt safe enough to love Alice again?
“You will have always been a sister, even if you leave, even if you hate them, even if you don’t.”
🖤🖤🖤
Huge thanks to @middleagedenragedmama for doing a first fic with me - I can't believe we did it! (read her fic!)
and to @badhairred for supporting us both along the way 🖤 (and their fic too!)
Actually check out the whole collection because there are some amazing works there!
and thanks to all the mods for making it happen! @messrsrarchives @badhairred @radla @middleagedenragedmama @heartsoncover @lemonlans @starprongs
