Khajiit Don't Really 'admire' Lorkhan. They Revere Him The Way The People Of Vivec (the City) Revere

Khajiit don't really 'admire' Lorkhan. They revere him the way the people of Vivec (the city) revere Bar Daau. Sort of, "Holy hell, please don't crush us even though you probably totally could with like, 0 effort."

Lorkhan's particularly interested in the Khajiit it seems for whatever reason, since he gets their 'bent' dead.

here’s some tea

the three factions that worship lorkhan or at least view him in a positive light all belong to the pact

Probably not what the ask was inquiring about but the book, Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diamna Wynne Jones (who was the author behind Howl's Moving Castle) depicts a family of two human parents and their two human and five Griffon children.

It's a delightful and emotional read of satirical high fantasy, blending light interpersonal drama and interdimensional intrigue.

Not to mention the endearing interactions between griffon and human siblings that are constantly astounded by other people's confusion.

"Yes, this is my brother/sister. Why is that so hard to believe?"

Oh and grumpy, sarcastic old dragons.👍

Do you know of any good books or manga that have wholesome human and monster relationships? Also, magnificent blog, my friend~

hmmm, besides for the very basic ones that a lot of people know about - I don’t really have anything. >.< i’m a bit busy and i’ve got a very long reading list. But! I’m sure someone who follows me can give you a good list!

I've always held the belief that Khajiit honor was built around different qualities. Where the Nords favor heroes of strength, wisdom, and bravery to the degree of foolhardiness, Khajiit's greatest figures were cleverer, more agile, and sly. Khajiit don't lack honor, their honor system just stems from different qualities of the individual.

This is why they seem to revere thieves to a great extent. In Nord culture every young adventurer says they're going to be a hero just like 'blablabla of old'. Among Khajiit it's similar, as their youth desire to be the most clever and successful.

I'm not so sure about them adapting to another system of honor, but I'm sure they understand it. And being clever as they are, they'd understand how to attain rank and status within it.

Nords would probably hate khajiit because they don’t share the notion of honor, but at the same time it’s canon that they do admire the figure of the Nord hero in wulfharth - and their story does include the ones without honor being punished. I think khajiit are very communitary, and if the notion of honor is often overlooked, it’s because they’d put “flee for your life it’s important” over “defend your name”. The only loopholes being : leaving someone of your community/someone of trust (in wulfharth’s story, the khajiit that sided with his enemy and left dro'zira alone to support him where shunned); second loophole being defending your homeland and keeping elsweyri culture going strong. I think that second point could be applicated with the khajiit presence in Skyrim : khajiit are very clever and immigrating as individuals living in Nordic society would be accepted and easy (like j'zargo), but they still keep on their nomadic caravan lifestyle at the risk of being kicked out

Since Khajiit are born under very specific Lunar cycles, I'd say their celebration is less individual and more of a group effort.

I can imagine a small army of similar looking specimens gathering in celebration every phase for loud and raucous celebration of their particular phenotype.

Also it's fun to imagine a birthday party for a hundred housecat sized mages.

lets have a headcanon thread to clear the air. reblog this with your favorite TES race + if/how you think they celebrate birthdays

Scarlet Briar

Kneel demands the dragon witch, Eyes burning like coal. Her long rifle doth seek the heart, Her eyes doth seek the soul. No, sayeth the heroes bold, We will not act for naught. Our hearts are ours as are our souls, 'Twas your black heart we sought.

Caesar

Light and wonder, knowledge sought. To glory and adventure drawn. What's earned is better than what's bought. Say the children of the Dawn. Righteous passion, warriors heart. Mind and form as molded clay. Greatest master, boldest art. Say the children of the Day. Calm and quiet, gentle mind. Wisdom, far from thoughtless husk. Every word, with knowledge signed. Say the children of the Dusk. Silent cunning, rarely seen. Darkened frown, mind of light. Actions, thoughts, precise and clean. Say the children of the Night

Can we step back for a second though and look at this twitter thread without any blinders whether that be on any level concerning representation in media, to realize how aggressively presumptuous the Twitter OP is being?

Outright, the focus is on ‘their’ culture. On ‘their’ tiny little aspect of this vastly creative effort that has been almost universally loved by those who’ve seen it. Things like this, people trying to control creators, to punish those who want to make something if it isn’t made to ‘their’ specifications, are the modern equivalent of the old Catholic Church arresting artists who made things the organization found “untasteful”.

Outrage culture is just a thing we have to deal with for now. People are going to flip their lids and go on childish vendettas against people that don’t fit their vision of a good artist or media maker. But preemptively throwing an aggressive and accusatory tantrum about something no one has even SEEN yet is where I draw the line.

You want to see representation for your culture? Right now that’s you. And by that example your culture is whiny, self-interested, and narrow minded.

Ballad of Reclamation

Waken the guardians, rally their wards. Gather their banners, their hammers and swords. Call to the speaker, Travelers voice. Call to the people and bid them rejoice. Run to all corners to find those in hiding. Run to the vanguards bearing our tiding. Our words are rallies, though through no feat. We sing not of victory, nor of retreat. Foes do not cower, nor do they flee. Their force still grows far as our eyes can see. They are not weakened, arms not diminished. But for this strength, we still are not finished. For we are standing, strong as before. Greatest our prowess, since the Dark war. Foes may not cower, foes may not flee. But we are guardians, neither do we.
