remember when solas caressed rook's hand after giving them the lyrium dagger and their fingers softly tangling over each other and birthing a disgusting amount of chemistry, vulnerability, and uncertain trust (& secret betrayal)? and remember when solas begged rook not to fight him because he did not want to hurt them the way he's hurt so many others? remember all of the atrocities he's committed and the allies and friends he's killed, with some literally being murdered in mid-sentence, but with rook he pleads with them to just stop before my hands are soaked in your blood too because after everything, solas does not want to kill this person?

Lucanis daydreams about his memory of Rook saying "I can't wait to run away with you." Spite watches him brush the daydream away. Lucanis says "Ah, mierda."
Spite takes the wisps of the physical daydream and collects them in its hands. He says, "You want this?." Lucanis says "Don't start, Spite."
"You want this," Spite.
"You know it's not that simple," Lucanis.
"Take it back," Spite.
"Enough," yells Lucanis.
"Rook breaks chains. Rook breaks our chains," says Spite.
Lucanis is haunted by the weight of his legacy and familial expectations.
"Let Rook break these chains," says Spite.
Spite presents the wisp of the daydream. Lucanis reaches out and cups it between their hands. He says, "I'll think about it."

most precious daydream

thinkin about lucanis' struggle with his wants vs. familial expectations, rook being a catalyst for his reach for freedom and understanding the crows from an outside perspective, and all of the cut content and epilogue scenes ...

Solas: If I say I love you, will you say it back? Rook: Yes. Solas: I love you. Rook: It back. *Later* Felassan: Why is Solas crying face-down on the floor?

Regrets of the Dread Wolf Pt. 1

A Rising Rebellion

The Lighthouse Masterpost

Regrets Of The Dread Wolf Pt. 1

Solas: You cannot do this, Elgar'nan! You swore that we would give up our commands when this horrific war was over.

Elgar'nan: Our people need our leadership. If you're unwilling, leave.

Mythal: Our people must rebuild. And we must help unite them.

Solas: So, we did not fight for freedom, but to conquer this land and our own.

Elgar'nan: We fought to win, and now the Evanuris are as gods. I do not answer to Mythal's annoying lapdog.

Mythal: The people are afraid. They must believe in something.

Elgar'nan: They need strength.

Mythal: And wisdom.

Elgar'nan: They need gods who can protect them.

Solas: We are not gods. You will learn that.

Elgar'nan: Every lapdog hides a wolf inside.

The party meets to discuss.

Harding: That was strange. They were speaking elven, but I understood it.

Emmrich: I believe we have experienced a memory in each of our native languages.

Neve: Not just any memory. One of the Dread Wolf's.

Race dependent dialogue:

Elf Rook [1]

Non-Elf Rook [2]

1 - Elf Rook: Bellara: And the mages who declared themselves my gods. Well, mine and Davrin's. And Rook's.

Dialogue options:

Sarcastic: Revelatory, and also bad. [2]

Sad: Yeah. [3] +Bellara Approves

Angry: They betrayed us. [4]

Stoic: Not mine. [5]

2 - Sarcastic: Revelatory, and also bad. Rook: It's not every day you witness the start of a religion. I wonder if they're all this disappointing. Bellara: I wish they were monsters. Something grand and terrible. Seeing them like that, they're no better than Tevinter nobles. Neve: But no worse, either. They were people—and people can let you down. Rook: All right. What else can we take from this memory? [8]

3 - Sad: Yeah. Rook: There they are, the elven Creators.

Veil Jumper Rook: Rook: You know how many Dalish legends I learned? Parables I was supposed to learn from? Kinda hard to take them seriously now that I've seen all the politics.

Non-Veil Jumper Rook: Rook: I used to be jealous of the Dalish elves, because they got to learn all these stories I only barely knew. Now I get to see the truth of it, and it turns out the truth is awful. Bellara: Awful is an understatement.

Bellara: I wish they were monsters. Something grand and terrible. Seeing them like that, they're no better than Tevinter nobles. Neve: But no worse, either. They were people—and people can let you down. Rook: All right. What else can we take from this memory? [8]

4 - Angry: They betrayed us. Rook: They were supposed to protect people. Instead, they seized power. Assholes. Bellara: I wish they were monsters. Something grand and terrible. Seeing them like that, they're no better than Tevinter nobles. Neve: But no worse, either. They were people—and people can let you down. Rook: All right. What else can we take from this memory? [8]

5 - Stoic: Not mine. Rook: They're not gods at all, much less my gods. Davrin: I'm with Rook. Bellara: I wish they were monsters. Something grand and terrible. Seeing them like that, they're no better than Tevinter nobles. Neve: But no worse, either. They were people—and people can let you down. Rook: All right. What else can we take from this memory? [8]

2 - Non-Elf Rook: Bellara: And the mages who declared themselves my gods. Well, mine and Davrin's.

Dialogue options:

Affable: It was a bit of a letdown. [5] +Bellara Approves

Stoic: What does this get us? [6]

Sad: I’m sorry. [7]

5 - Affable: It was a bit of a letdown. Rook: Given what we've seen them do, I was expecting someone to do something epic. Bellara: Right? It was so mundane. Nothing grand or cosmic. No setting fire to the sun. It was just talking. Politics. I wish they were monsters. Something grand and terrible. Seeing them like that, they're no better than Tevinter nobles. Neve: But no worse, either. They were people—and people can let you down. Rook: All right. What else can we take from this memory? [8]

6 - Stoic: What does this get us? Rook: Anyone see anything in that memory we can use? [8]

7 - Sad: I’m sorry. Rook: That can't be easy, Bellara. Bellara: It was so… mundane. Nothing grand or cosmic. No setting fire to the sun. Just talking. Politics. I wish they were monsters. Something grand and terrible. Seeing them like that, they're no better than Tevinter nobles. Neve: But no worse, either. They were people—and people can let you down. Rook: All right. What else can we take from this memory? [8]

8 - Scene continues.

Bellara: Elgar'nan was hungry for power. Did anything he could to get it. And to hold on to it.

Emmrich: Then Solas, furious at Elgar'nan installing himself as a despot, started his rebellion.

Neve: There's another moving part in this. Mythal. She was keeping the peace.

Harding: Mythal and Solas were close. The Inquisition found a temple to Mythal, and there were wolf statues everywhere.

Lucanis: Then she sides with Elgar'nan over him. A betrayal.

Dialogue options:

No wonder he was angry. [9] +Bellara Approves +Harding Approves -Neve Disapproves

I see Mythal’s reasons. [10] +Davrin Approves +Emmrich Approves -Bellara Diapproves

9 - No wonder he was angry. Rook: It sounded like Solas was loyal to Mythal. What did Elgar'nan call him? Mythal's lapdog? And then she grabs power alongside Elgar'nan instead of standing for her principles. I'd be angry, too. Neve: Angry enough to start a rebellion? Davrin: That's not how he'd see it. He didn't destroy the world. Elgar'nan did. Solas did what he considered necessary to stop him. Harding: Solas would try to justify what he did. But he'd also blame himself for what happened. [11]

10 - I see Mythal’s reasons. Rook: I think I get where Mythal is coming from. Bellara: Really? Rook: You've just finished some big war, everyone is exhausted, and now Elgar'nan won't give up power. Rook: If Mythal sided with Solas, would Elgar'nan have backed down? Davrin: Not a chance. Harding: It would have led to another war. Mythal tried to keep the peace. Rook: And Solas must see that, but still can't accept that she chose peaceful politics over his ideals. [11]

11 - Scene continues.

Emmrich: Perhaps… these murals aren't simply memories. They're what Solas wishes to forget.

Lucanis: His regrets. That means they're a way to learn his weak points.

Taash: Why are we worried about Solas? He's trapped.

Bellara: Right. But the Dread Wolf was the god of trickery. He's looking for a way out. Bet on it.

Rook: Meanwhile, keep your eyes open in the Crossroads. If there's a way to restore the rest of these murals, Solas would have kept it in his hideaway. It'd be nice to get inside his head for a change.
