Hello! You might be attuned to the magic of solar magic, a vibrant and dynamic practice that harnesses the energy of the sun to fuel spells, rituals, and spiritual growth. The sun, with its warm embrace and life-giving energy, has long been revered as a symbol of power, vitality, and enlightenment. Incorporating solar magic into your practice can illuminate your path to self-discovery, empowerment, and manifestation.

Phases of the Sun 🌅🌞🌇

Just like the moon, the sun has different phases that can be used to amplify your magical workings:

Sunrise: A time of new beginnings, renewal, and fresh starts. Perfect for setting intentions and starting new projects.

High Noon: The peak of the sun’s power. Use this time for spells related to health, physical energy, and wisdom.

Sunset: A moment of transition and release. Ideal for banishing negativity, stress, and confusion.

Magical Properties of the Sun 🌞🔮

The sun’s energy is incredibly versatile and can be used for various magical intents, including:

Sun Symbols: Incorporate sun-shaped items, such as sunflowers, sun charms, and golden decorations.

Colors: Use yellow, orange, and gold to represent the sun’s vibrant energy.

Herbs and Crystals: Include sun-linked herbs like rosemary, chamomile, and sunstone crystals.

Making Sun Water 🌞💧

Sun water is a powerful tool in solar magic. To make it, simply place a glass jar or bowl of water in the sunlight to charge. You can use sun water in spells, to cleanse tools, or add it to your bath for a refreshing boost of solar energy.

Sun Plants 🌻🌿

Grow and use plants ruled by the sun in your magical practice. Some sun plants include:

Sunflowers: Symbolize positivity and strength.

Rosemary: Enhances memory and protection.

Chamomile: Promotes relaxation and healing.

Sunbathing for Energy 🌞🧘‍♀️

One of the simplest ways to absorb the sun’s energy is through sunbathing. Spend time in the sunlight to recharge your physical and mental health. Remember to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated!

Practicing witchcraft without relying on pseudosciences involves focusing on the aspects of the craft that are rooted in personal empowerment, psychology, and symbolism. Here are some suggestions:

Intention Setting: Clearly define your intentions and goals. This is a psychological practice that helps you stay focused on your objectives.

Symbolism: Use symbols and tools that hold personal meaning for you. The power comes from your connection to these symbols rather than any inherent magical properties.

Meditation and Mindfulness: Incorporate meditation and mindfulness practices to enhance your focus, mental clarity, and connection to your inner self.

Energy Work: Instead of viewing energy in a mystical way, consider it as a metaphorical representation of your mental and emotional state. Practices like grounding and centering can be beneficial.

Herbology and Aromatherapy: Explore the psychological and physiological effects of herbs and scents. Use them for their known properties rather than relying on magical attributes.

Candle Magic: Utilize candles as a symbolic tool. The act of lighting a candle can represent bringing light to a situation or setting an intention.

Oracle Cards: If you use Oracle cards, treat them as a tool for introspection and self-reflection. It can be a way to access your subconscious thoughts rather than using Tarot for predicting the future.

Moon Phases and Seasons: Align your practices with moon phases and seasonal changes. This can be a way to stay connected to the natural cycles of life.

Journaling: Keep a magical journal to document your experiences, thoughts, and the results of your practices. This can help you track your personal growth and insights.

Self-Reflection: Regularly reflect on your beliefs, practices, and experiences. Be open to adjusting your approach based on what resonates with you personally.

Remember, the key is to find practices that align with your own beliefs and resonate with you on a personal level. It's even more beneficial to add practices to suit your understanding of the world and your own psychological well-being.

is there like some secret tag that advanced practitioners use? as much as i enjoy seeing all the witchlings in the #witchblr tag, i would like to engage with other folks who have been at it for a while.

Y'all know it's okay to just try stuff in witchcraft, right?

Across the internet, I see a lot of people who seem to be asking for permission to do what they want. While I see some validity in getting wisdom from others, I worry that the people asking these questions might miss out on the experience they could get from going ahead and making a good faith attempt.

"Can I do this spell even if I don't have rosemary?" I don't know. Try it!

"Can I use fruit juice as an offering to my goddess?" I don't know. Ask her!

"Can I include a pocket watch in my magic?" I don't know. See if it works!

Of course, it's not a good idea to jump in and try something that could be harmful, but if you're not hurting yourself or others and you're not appropriating from a closed practice, just give it a go! You're allowed. You're a witch with magic and power and discernment of your own. You don't have to get permission from a bunch of internet strangers. Have fun trying new things!

Telling the bees

The custom of "telling the bees" is a charming and ancient tradition where beekeepers inform their bees about significant events in their lives, such as deaths, births, marriages, and other major occurrences. This practice is believed to have its roots in Celtic mythology, where bees were seen as messengers between the human world and the spirit world. The presence of a bee after a death was thought to signify the soul leaving the body. The tradition became particularly prominent in the 18th and 19th centuries in Western Europe and the United States.

Telling The Bees

To tell the bees, the head of the household or the "goodwife" would approach the hives, gently knock to get the bees' attention, and then softly murmur the news in a solemn tone. This ritual was believed to keep the bees informed and prevent them from leaving the hive or dying. The custom underscores the deep connection and respect that people historically had for bees, viewing them as integral members of the household and community. (The Historian's Den)

I can easily see how you can turn this in a magical tradition with some little adaptation: plant flowers and plants for bees in your garden, invoke the spirit of the bees, keep bee-telling to the bee-spirits and take care for the plants. I am sure that one day the spirit of the bees will be your ally and that you will learn from it. And a big plus: you are helping the bees to survive in a world full of mono-cultures and poisons. Witchcraft and care-taking for your environment can go hand in hand if you wish to.

Anonymously ask me anything you want.

I'm feeling better but not much got done. But I'm showered, dressed, had crochet talk, eating a quick snack. I need to get these damn dishes done.

I'm struggling with my anxiety today, I'm trying to do small manageable tasks, with my witchy ambience music, but it's not quite helping. I do have my asks and messages open if people want ask or talk about something. I mean witchcraft is a topic, but I also enjoy journaling, bullet journaling, crocheting, or whatever tickles your fancy. I just need help getting through some house work.
