the motto
THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. We’ve all got our own relationship with our bodies and everyone’s journey is different. But in the interim, no one deserves staring, unwanted advice, shaming, and the rest of the gamut of indignities that fat women (and sometimes men) have to run. The first two segments and the last are empowering and heartbreaking. I adore Lindy West and Elna Baker and I can tell you that they are both right. I’ve been on both ends of the spectrum and how you’re treated is different. No one likes to think they’re nicer to attractive people but we just are and it’s institutionalized through media and cultural norms. Give it a listen, it’s creative, interesting, and worth your time.
Have you ever just looked at someone and thought, “I really love you”. They’re just talking or humming or watching a movie or reading a book or laughing or something, and there’s something about them in that moment that makes you think, “I just really love you.
