The clock ticked overhead, and you chewed your nails, nearly down to nothing. Billy had been gone for hours after having left you with Frank and Maria. He was dealing with someone who had come after his client.
He’d left when the sun was still up, it was dark now. Maria had tried to soothe your worries, “Billy’s very capable. He’ll come home.”
It didn’t take away the anxiety from your stomach, the heavy feeling in your chest that another person had abandoned you.
You moved to the window, watching for the headlights of the car. The clock ticked, and you wanted to rip it off the wall, as it measured Billy’s absence.
You thought of your mother. She had always protected you, but she couldn’t help herself against your father. She’d killed him as she went down in flames.
Your heart ached. Billy protected you, but could he protect himself? You’d lost so much, that the idea of losing more was crippling.
Headlights flashed across the driveway, your heart rate picked up, as the car shut off and the sound of a door being opened and closed could be heard.
You could hear his feet on the gravel pathway leading up to the house.
You ran to the front door as it opened, and Billy stepped through. He looked tired, but when you pulled him down for an eager kiss, he hummed and wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you closer, nipping at your bottom lip.
You pulled back, “Welcome back, Billy.” You said, trying to mask your relief. But he could see. He could always see.
Billy nodded to Frank, before taking your hand and pulling you out of the house, and towards his Wraith.
“Missed you, baby.” He whispered in your ear, before ushering you into the passenger seat.
You relaxed as he walked around the car and got in, starting it up. You admired him as he turned the heat on for you.
He was back. He was safe.

Anything by Fleetwood Mac, but Rhiannon specifically.

My mom. We’ve been through so much together. I love her.
29. Morning, afternoon, or night?

“When the band went to London, Nicks scoured the flea markets in Chelsea and on Portobello Road for Victorian lace — “the real deal,” she says. At five foot one, Nicks likes anything with volume that gives her more stage presence, like the endless shawls and scarves she spreads wide into wings. (Among the boxes packed for her spring tour, there’s a giant bin marked Stevie’s saris.) And, along with the platforms, that iconic top hat added height. “I found a top hat at a thrift store in Buffalo, New York, on our first tour, and I loved it,” she says. “Now I have several. It really became part of my look.”

Monsters in the Dark #11
—dark themes, religious discussion, anti religious sentiment (Billy), mentions of an attempt on reader’s life (her father), blood, canon typical violence, fem!reader—
@idaofinfinity @e-dubbc11 @rosaleenablack
You were staring at a painting of Jesus being crucified, with a stormy backdrop. The blood drew your attention, as it was painted so starkly.
You heard Billy approach you in the gallery. It was something a colleague had invited Billy to, and he’d taken you with.
“Do you believe?” Billy asked, holding a champagne flute.
“I think I’ve just wanted a reason for all the pain and suffering.” You whispered, toying the necklace Billy had bought you.
“What if that reason is He just wants to be glorified? Is that better? Don’t you think it’s arrogant?” Billy asked, agitated.
You turned to him, “When I was seven, my dad tried to strangle me. My mom shot him, and as she was wiping the blood from face, he stood up. She told me to run. I hid in the woods for hours, until a police officer found me. Both my parents were dead.” You explained.
Billy ached at the image of a small girl hiding in the woods, alone.
“I wanted to believe God protected me in those woods, because maybe I just wanted to be unconditionally loved, like they say in the Scriptures that God is love.” You let out a shaky breath, turning back to the painting.
But Billy, feeling irrationally jealous towards God, that you’d pray to God, that you’d cast all your cares on Him, when you had Billy; grabbed you and turned you to face him, saying;
“What loving God watches a girl get strangled by her father? And hide in the woods alone and afraid? I love you. Is that not enough?” He sounded pained.
You looked at him wide-eyed. “Yes, Billy. You’re the only god I need now. You’re what I’ve been searching for, for so long.” You confessed, honestly.
The jealousy in Billy’s heart faded, replaced with a burning adoration.
You leaned up on your tippy toes, and kissed him.
His arm snaked around your waist, pulling you closer.
With you, Billy was not a mother’s unwanted son, but god himself.
He nipped at your bottom lip, and you sighed dreamily.
With Billy, you were not a sinner, but a saint.
Monsters in the Dark #17
Blood, death, canon typical violence, kissing, oral (m receiving), dark fluff, dark themes, mentions of Billy’s abuse by Arthur, f/reader.
He’d appeared at the penthouse as winter waned into spring. The birds were chirping and making nests, and you’d felt lighter with Billy lately. Happy. It was a strange thing. You’d never been particularly happy.
You’d always been discontented to some degree, but things were different with Billy.
It was Arthur, he’d introduced himself, an old man playing the part of frailty. Of sweetness that left a bitter taste on your tongue. Billy was at work but you knew he’d be home soon, and your mind reeled.
You didn’t want Billy to have to face this man again. You were fiercely protective of Billy.
“Billy and I, we had a misunderstanding.” He said, back to you looking at a piece of art on the wall. “But he’s done well for himself, I see.”
You felt anger spark at his comment. That him abusing and destroying Billy’s arm was a misunderstanding.
“Billy is strong, hardship made him who he is.” You said, closing in on him.
“Oh, yes. Beautiful though, isn’t he?” Arthur asked, nearing the art presumably to see who made it.
As if Billy was a piece of art. Dehumanizing him. “Do you like beautiful little boys, Arthur?” You asked, darkly. It was so strange for your sweet personality to be tinged with this darkness, but this man had deeply hurt the man you loved. The man who would kill for you.
Arthur turned around at your tone, presumably to defend himself, as you raised a knife Billy had given you for self defense, and sunk it into Arthur’s throat.
Surprise flitted across his face. You didn’t exactly have a dangerous aura. He hadn’t expected it.
You weren’t Billy, and murder wasn’t something you were familiar with, so blood sprayed and made an awful mess over you, and the floor, and the wall.
He gurgled, holding his neck.
You brought the knife down. Again and again. It became easier with each strike. You didn’t stop until he laid in the kitchen, dead.
It was a bloody mess, but Billy was avenged.
x
Oh, god. What have you done?
You’d just taken a life. You felt sick as you kneeled by Arthur’s body, almost in a trance, knife hung limply in your hand.
You heard speaking as though you were underwater, before you were shaken. “Sweetheart!” It was Billy.
You looked up at him slowly, eyes glassy but clearing. “He can never hurt Billy again.” You said reaching for your lover.
Billy fisted your hair in his hand, pulling your mouth to his roughly. He tasted the tang of blood on your lips.
The kitchen was a mess.
“I made a mess,” you mumbled distantly.
“I don’t give a fuck.” Billy said, wiping your face with a cloth.
“I made trouble for you. But I wanted to protect Billy like he protects me.” You explained, as he pulled you up.
You wobbled on your legs as Billy stared at you.
No one had attempted to avenge Billy. Frank always had his back, but he’d never gone after Arthur.
You were so soft, it was hard to imagine you stabbing Arthur over and over again.
Billy’s heart burned for you. “I got some people that will clean up the mess. Don’t worry about it.” He said pulling towards the bathroom.
“Billy is mad?” You asked, softly. Almost sounding small.
“Never, sweet pea. I’m just—“ he didn’t know how to put it into words. You were brave for wearing your heart on your sleeve, even surrounded by ravenous wolves like himself.
Billy couldn’t. He wasn’t so free with his heart. It was hard for him to put his feelings into words.
“I’d do it again, Billy.” You say stripping off your bloody clothes.
Billy licks his lips looking at you, aroused by what you’ve done. By your soft body.
“And I’d love you for it stronger each time, baby.” Billy said, stripping out of his own clothes, sitting his gun aside on the countertop.
You both climbed into the shower, where Billy washed your hair, making buzz with contentment. His nails felt heavenly on your scalp.
You turned to face him, pressing your lips to his, before looking at him; “Can I touch you, Billy?” You asked, sweetly.
Billy groaned, and nodded.
You dropped to your knees.
Fuck.
He was already hard.
You stroked him, kissing his length, before taking him in your mouth. You teased the tip with your tongue, before taking him all the way in.
You gagged a little, as he grabbed your hair, pulling.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck.” Billy hissed, rolling his hips into your mouth, cock pulsing in your mouth.
Your mouth felt heavenly.
Murder and sex, a heady combination.
You hollowed out your cheeks, sucking harder and faster.
Billy’s toes curled, and he barely recognized his gasps and moans.
You let your tongue run along the vein on the underside of his cock, making him jerk. “Minx,” he growled.
“Love worshiping your cock, Billy.” You purred, teasing him with your tongue.
He pulled on your hair, forcing you to take him all the way in again. You choked, swallowing around him.
“I’m gonna—“ he said, breathing heavily.
He let go then, cumming into your mouth, and you swallowed every drop.
Billy leaned against the shower wall, sated and drowsy now.
He shut the water off, wondering when you’d become so strong.
He was really fucking proud of you. You’d avenged him, a far cry from the girl crying at his bedroom door, begging to sleep with him.
x
That night you both laid dozing quietly while a spring rain seemed to wash away all the dirt and grime into the city gutters.
You imagined filth like Arthur being washed away. You knew he was just one of many child abusers. But at least he was one less.
Billy’s lips brushed your forehead. He didn’t know how to tell you he was happy. He wasn’t mad. He was relieved Arthur was gone.
He was infatuated with the fact you avenged him.
It was all so much.
“You make me happy,” he said, almost cringing at the words. He didn’t do soft. He didn’t do sappy. But he needed you to know.
“Billy makes me happy, too.” You said, kissing his neck.
He relaxed.
It just cemented the idea that you were his.
“he’s killed people” ok but have you considered that he did it in a hot pathetic way.

“How’s things going with Billy?” asked Curtis, as you took a bite of your dorito taco. You were having a lunch date with him. He was your very first friend before Billy. You adored Curtis. He had found you on the streets, being attacked by several thugs. It took weeks to nurse you back to health.
Your boyfriend had kicked you out after cheating on you. Life had been hard after being in the system. He knew Billy would understand.
“Good,” you said happily after swallowing, “Billy’s sweet to me.”
Curtis laughed, raising an eyebrow.
“What?” You asked, curious.
“It’s just that I wouldn’t describe Billy as sweet.” Curtis said, taking a drink of his soda.
“He lets me sleep with him.” You told Curtis, smiling softly.
Curtis’ eyebrows shot up. “Oh?”
You nodded, “I had a nightmare the first night after you left me there. He let me in his bed, and held me. After that I kept sneaking in. So when we were at the bar last weekend, he said I could sleep with him whenever I wanted if I could hit the bullseye at darts.” You explained, finishing off your taco, and digging into your cinnamon dessert. This place was your favorite to eat at, and that was why Curtis brought you here. His treat.
Right now you worked at a library even though Billy insisted he could take care of you. You liked independence, though, and you were cautious.
Your ex had left you with nothing; you wanted the security in case anything went sour. You weren’t going to be defenseless again.
“And did you?” Curtis asked, cautiously.
“Uh huh!” You grinned, “I sleep with him every night now.” You missed the look of concern on Curtis’ face, but when you looked at him, he smiled and ruffled your hair.
He needed to talk to Billy. He loved his brother, but Billy was a known womanizer.
After that he asked how your work at the library was going, and listened to you chatter about that, and the cranky old lady you worked with.
“She’s so crusty!” You had said, rolling your eyes playfully.
Curtis laughed. And despite worrying about Billy, Curtis could tell he was having a good influence on you.
You’d been skittish when Curtis first found you, and now you seemed open and light hearted.
Still, he needed to hear from Billy that he wasn’t going to just drop you, and move on.
x
Curtis appeared at the penthouse a few nights later. “Can I talk to you, Billy?” He asked, and Billy frowned. It was clear Curtis wasn’t there for drinks.
“Sure, give me a minute.” Billy said, leaving Curtis in the living room.
He looked around the corner and into Billy’s bedroom. He was tucking you into bed, kissing your forehead, saying: “I’m gonna talk to Curt. I’ll be in, in a little bit.” His fingers squeezed your hips before letting go, a soft smile on his face.
Curtis was stunned. Billy was a hard man, not known for being soft. He made his living out of violence, and enjoyed it to some degree. It was why he was good at what he did. It was why Curtis placed you with Billy. He could protect you. But here he was being gentle with you.
Billy shut the door coming back out, stuffing his hands in the pockets of his sweatpants. “So, want a beer?” Billy asked.
“Nah, listen Billy, I'm here for her.” Curtis said, not bothering to beat around the bush.
Billy’s stomach dropped. Was Curtis taking you away? He’d gotten attached to you in the short amount of time he had you. He hated attachments yet here he was, afraid you were being taken from him. If he was, Billy wasn’t letting you go without a fight. “Yeah?”
“What are your intentions with her? She really likes you, and the men in her life haven’t treated her well.” Curtis said, stance rigid.
“What do you mean they haven’t?” Billy asked, ready to murder anyone who’d hurt you. It wasn’t hard to imagine someone hurting you, you were exceptionally kind and gentle. It wasn’t hard to rip the wings off a butterfly.
“Her boyfriend used her until he was done with her, before kicking her out onto the streets. Her dad used to beat her pretty bad, too. The pictures I’ve seen from police reports are pretty bad, Billy. I feel like her father has set a precedent for every man she’s encountered.” Curtis said, making Billy see red.
“Her mother was the only refuge she had. And I’m worried she’s finding refuge in you, and you’ll grow bored of her.” The tension was thick in the room, Curtis just wanted the best for you.
“I’m not gonna throw her aside, Curt.” Billy said through gritted teeth, angry at both what your father and boyfriend did to you, and Curtis’ implications. “I know what it’s like to be thrown away. Better than anyone else. Better than you. You forget, I lived in the system. My ma didn’t exactly want me.” Billy said bitterly.
“So—“
Billy cut him off, rolling his shoulder, “She’s mine, I’m not letting her go.” He said leaving no room for discussion.
Curtis stared at him for a moment, stance softening. He understood this was Billy’s way of saying he cared for you, “Just so long as her best interests are at heart.” He said. “Because the minute I think they aren’t—“
“They are.” Billy said, jaw ticking.
Curtis nodded, before leaving Billy standing there wondering how you’d wormed your way into his heart.
x
Billy crawled in with you that night, wrapping his arms around you, his insides melting when you rolled over and snuggled against him, cheek pressed to his chest,
He meant what he said to Curtis, he wasn’t letting you go. He understood Curtis cared for you, it was easy as Billy found out.
But Billy would rather chew off his own leg, than hurt you.
He slept that night, vowing to always keep you safe, to kill your enemies, and to be their worst nightmare.
