When your watching movies alone do you get up and dance to happy end credits music or are you normal?
Totally agree. Not to mention the fact that Katniss wasn't trying to be the face of a rebellion, it just kind of happened to her. The biggest difference I noticed between THG and SOTR is that Haymitch was trying to end the games and actively rebel while Katniss would love that to happen but is primarily focused on the survival of herself and her family.
Katniss accidentally became the face of a revolution through a mixture of her natural reactions to her situation being publicized and the orchestration of those that have been behind the rebellion for decades.
It is not a teenage girl saves the world story it is a teenage girl becomes propaganda story.
Suzanne Collin’s just said fuck you to everyone who’s ever critiqued the Hunger Games as being a “teen girl saves the day” story. She said oh, Mockingjay didn’t make it clear enough? Here’s a book about how people have been rebelling for decades only to have their efforts suppressed and propagandized. Rebellion takes time and it takes failure and Katniss may have been the spark that ignited the wildfire but she did so standing atop the doused flames of everyone who came before her.
For me, life is like a movie. I can always see its narrative arc. I can always see my character archetype. Narrative arcs tend to have limited options, so you try to spot the ending. You try to find who the other main characters are and guess where your story will take you. You try to spot the heroes, villains, love interests and comic relief of your life. You try to spot where you play these roles for others.
In short, you live in a world of fantasy. This can be both the best and worst thing for your life.
On one hand you can live life with the reassurance that the story will finish. You can see how the trials you face can motivate your character arc and enhance your story. However, once you feel you've completed an arc, you feel a bit empty. Life works in installments of plot for you (series, novels, episodes, etc). When you complete an arc you get into a rut and you have no reassurance it's going anywhere until a new plot unfolds. You get scared you could be stuck like this forever.
When you live in a world of fantasy there is always somewhere to escape to. Always your vision of how it could go differently, a fantastical plot of another universe, a made-up romance, or a wild adventure. But you know this isn't real. The discrepancy between fantasy and reality can often be confusing, jarring, and misleading.
Of course sometimes it helps to go through life as if the fantasy is the reality. To go through life thinking you deserve all the good things, that you are learning through your own adventure. It's a great way to think about yourself. It's how you think about others that becomes the problem.
Who did you unfairly cast as a villain? What when the happily ever after you expected doesn't come? How about when you lose someone you were hoping would be a main character?
I am constantly tortured and comforted by the fantasy I surround myself with. Of course I could say the same about my reality.
No spoilers I promise! But I just saw Black Widow and it was so good!!!! All the new characters they added are interesting, it's funny, it's interesting, there's action, and fascinating interpersonal relationships! It's possibly one of the betrer movies in the mcu (which is saying something because the mcu movies are awesome). It's so great to finally see an action/superhero movie with multiple female main characters that's as good if not better than similar movies featuring male characters!
Twilight but it's a family sitcom!!! Edward gets made fun of for how emo he is. All the Cullen siblings play pranks on eachother. Resume (or whatever the fuck her name is) spends too much money shopping with Aunt Alice and crashes Edward's Volvo. Carlisle and Charlie are just rolling with the punches and dealing with everyone's shit. All the classic sitcom things happen, but it's still twilght.
When you realize that you’ve fully gone from listening to Panic! at the Disco to experiencing it.
my mom's watching law and order in the other room and one of the characters referred to LGBTQIA+ as just "LGBT," and another character (an LGBTQIA+ activist, i assumed) corrected him by saying "LGBTQIA." i got really fucking hopeful because she was recognizing these identities, but when someone asked her what the "QIA" meant, she said "Queer, Intersex, Ally." not to be a dramatic bitch or anything, but as an asexual, my heart shattered. this was said by someone who either "supported" or was a part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
i'm going to say this one more time:
THE "A" IS FOR ASEXUAL/AROMANTIC/AGENDER. ALLIES ARE NOT PART OF THE LGBTQIA COMMUNITY. IT IS NOT A SEXUALITY OR GENDER IDENTITY. YOU ARE CISHET. YOU ARE NOT OPPRESSED FOR SUPPORTING US.
I AM SICK OF THESE IDENTITIES GETTING ERASED. IF YOU CLAIM THE A IS FOR "ALLY," GET OFF MY BLOG.
reblog if you support your ace, aro and agender friends

{disclaimer: i appreciate and love allies and all your support, but you are still not part of the community.}
I only know Gossip Girl b/c my sister likes it, but finding the Chuck Bass to my Blair Waldorf is the dream
I’m sorry this is really weird and I don’t see a lot of oddly specific headcannony type stuff in this fandom, but it popped into my head and IDK why. 21st century AU obvi
Anthony: He played football (soccer) in school. Maybe he joins a rec league as an adult, IDK. Him and Simon definitely played football together when they were in school. I feel like Simon went on to play longer than Anthony and at a higher level. But he hits the gym pretty regularly, headphones in and zoned out, lifting workouts.
Benedict: Look, this guy has played sports, he’s been to a gym, but he does not play sports or go to the gym. He definitely played sports with his brothers or friends when he was a kid and stuff. He’s probably tried to start a couple workout programs, or randomly goes to the gym, but its not something he consistently does. Definitely makes it his new years resolution to get fit every couple of years and stops going to the gym by the end of January.
Colin: He plays rugby. Rugby is a very social sport and Colin is a fun social guy. He doesn’t play at an elite level or anything. He plays for a casual club team and lives for the post-game socials. He’s a bit cheeky so I definitely see him as a #9. Bonus: Penelope also plays rugby. This might be inner rugby player projecting, but I think they are an adorable rugby couple.
Daphne: Daphne is your classic basic hot girl at the gym. She is like a fitness influencer type, but more casual about it. She does incline walks on the treadmill, she wears cute matching legging sets in pastel pinks and blues, she lifts to. She goes to the gym with Simon and at the end of their workouts they take a mirror selfie at the gym.
Eloise: I’m a little unsure with this one. I feel like she either doesn’t bother or she does some random sport that really reflects who she is. Maybe a sport she played while she was in school, but doesn’t do anything as an adult. She might have done rugby with Penelope or something kind of random and niche like fencing.
Francessca: This is where its going to start getting rough because I haven’t read the books, but from what I gather Fran is kind of the smart one, kind of the tough one, but like keeps to herself. I see her doing something a little niche but totally bad ass like boxing.
Gregory: Football (soccer), typical British child playing a mainstream British sports. I can’t picture this kid as grown-up so that’s all I got.
Hyacinth: Hyacinth is wild, she is unhinged. I feel like she does not do any consistent sport or workout program, but she tries a bunch of different things and is pretty great at a lot of things. She’s definitely gotten like thrown of the field during a football match for like getting mad at the referee or getting too competitive or something. It’s great.
Society if we gave James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender full creative control over Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr so they could make their Cherik fishing roadtrip romcom
I'm going to hate you
I'm going to love you
I'm going to want to kiss, marry and kill you
I'm going to want to hug you
I'm going to want to hurt you
But most importantly. .
I'm never going to need you
