Anyway I'm done catching up with My Hero Academia, here are my 2 cents:
Heroes shouldn't have families.
In my personal opinion, Tokoyami deserves more spotlight and development.
And I'm not just saying that because he's my favorite but he's the character who has been most alluded to as a crucial, interesting, or strong character.
Examples:
-To start, he's got a bird head and that apparently has nothing to do with his actual quirk. We don't see canonical examples of him exhibiting avian behaviors even though the fandom Really Wants It, so he's not like the characters whose quirk is "frog" or "rabbit". It doesn't seem to affect his entire body, just his head that is so strange. I want to know what his family looks like, if they're like the Todorokis and the Asuis and they all have varying degrees of bird.
-His actual quirk is Dark Shadow, which is unlike the other quirks seen in the series. He has a sentient being living inside him that can communicate and has feelings and he can Sometimes control it but can lose control of it. Not to mention it was suggested that Dark Shadow gets more ravenous when Tokoyami has negative emotions of some sort. He doesn't seem to actively 100% control Dark Shadow and asks Dark Shadow when he needs to engage in some kind of combat or attack. There is no indication of where it came from in terms of familial lineage.
-He is consistently noted as a very strong character, within the ranks of Midoriya, Bakugou, and Todoroki. He did very well in the entrance exam and the sports festival. No one ever escaped Fatgum's fat until Tokoyami did.
-On that note, Tokoyami had an Entire Thing about going to rescue Hawks because he cares so much about his master. He was crying over Hawks and yet he doesn't show up again until several chapters later. Why.
-Both Tokoyami and Bakugou were captured by the League of Villains because they had something of interest to them, but Tokoyami was freed.
-Almost everything about Tokoyami would give off the impression of someone who's malicious and evil. Very dark, avidly enjoys dark things, has a Shadow Monster living inside him and stronger in the dark. But he's fundamentally good at his core, not wanting to harm others.
-Also the fact he likes goth things and dark things but he can't really be in absolute darkness because of Dark Shadow. That's so ironic. He can't go out in daylight because Dark Shadow is weaker but he can't really go out in darkness either because Dark Shadow can Wreck Havoc.
-There are examples that suggest that Tokoyami and Dark Shadow know more than they may seem to lead on.
Tokoyami just has so much potential to be a critical character why haven't they done anything with him yet.
Arthur on Drunk History recounting Alfred’s story from when he found him all the way to American independence.
that's basically what that old scene of Arthur and Alfred going out for drinks and Arthur getting sloshed af was.
I'm having some very cute and amusing mental images of drunk Arthur describing Alfred as a baby though. he gets very teary-eyed, whether he's talking about how cute Alfred was or about how he had a terribly inconvenient habit of frequently dying from plague and whatnot or how proud Arthur was when Alfred started actually putting on weight and growing. it's just a 20-minute segment of Arthur tearily gushing about how smart and cute his baby was and the actors just have to improvise on how the fuck they're going to act it out onscreen; baby Alfred is played by a grown adult who keeps doing overdramatic swooning and falling to the ground every time Arthur describes a death. there's a witch that appears, somehow, but Arthur doesn't go into detail so the actor is just ?????? Ominous witch onscreen for zero discernible reason.
the rest of the episode is also fun but the baby segment becomes particularly infamous because it's just so fucking ridiculous.
⠀⠀⠀about the Mugen train movie , there is one detail that I couldn't stop thinking of . you know that part when they get into the main characters' subconscious ? Tanjiro's subconscious is extremely clear and peaceful , but Rengoku's was endless fire and unbreathable air , as well as a covered sky . so i immediately thought , there is just so much that he is repressing . as fiery , passionate and kind he may seem on the outside , i think that there is a lot of clash between what he wants to be / show and how he feels ; as much as he doesn't want to ,
i'm pretty sure that the abuse of his father has affected him deeply . perhaps is it that he also possesses the same capacity to anger and be harsh with his words , but refuses to act as such , and instead chooses a different front .
but that inevitably creates inner turmoil since there is conflict . the inability to reconcile how he feels with what he is , following duty instead of heart ; and the fact that there is so much at stake and so much out of his control . especially that he is still desperately searching for his father's approval , which never truly comes .
there is so much that he has to protect , so much that his own heart comes last . and all the fire surrounding him is inevitably burning him inside .
i just thought it was a very interesting detail and i really wanted to comment on that . .
fire can be a good thing , it is warm and passionate ; but fire burns too . and his subconscious just seemed to be very far from tranquil . and i can only imagine that if rengoku were to truly snap , it wouldn't be pretty . he may even mirror his father's actions and words , and that , he would absolutely hate himself for .
a thing to explore . . 👁️
it's got my brain to think about such scenarios . . 🤨
I don’t know if you were talking to me in the tags but if so then go ahead
Dare I say America core
Whenever Vox is deep in thought he has his Voxtech logo bouncing around on his screen like the old dvd logo
I made this a long time ago because I was thinking about the fact that both Eri and Tokoyami like apples and that Horikoshi said he wanted to draw them eating apples together
