“Y/N Y/L/N!” You didn’t notice the shout from behind you, too entranced by your Walkman to hear. You just kept walking on your normal route home. But you didn’t make it far before a soft tap on your shoulder and an even softer “Hey” brought you back to reality. It was, however, not a very soft transition, the sudden touch causing you to jump away and pull your headphones off,
“Holy fucking shit,” your eyes moved up from their gaze on the sidewalk to see who your “attacker” was and let out a sigh of relief, “Munson. Jesus fucking Christ, you scared the shit out of me. Do not sneak up on people when they’re walking alone.” He took a small step back from you and scratched at the back of his neck as he avoided your eyes,
“Yeah, that was an oversight on my part. But, to be fair, I did shout your name a bunch. It’s not my fault you weren’t listening.”
You sighed and looked him over, noticing the slight heave of his chest that he tried to steady and the small beads of sweat pricking at his nose. It was summer, but Eddie refused to wear anything besides a t-shirt, long jeans, and at least one jacket. It also probably didn’t help that running was never really his thing. And he just got out of the hospital.
“Sorry.” He scoffed,
“Nothing to be sorry about, babes. It’s good you carry your music with you. You know, to stay safe.”
“Uh-no. No, I don’t know. If anything you just proved my parents right, it makes me vulnerable to kidnappings.”
They especially were worried about you being kidnapped by Eddie. While he might’ve technically been cleared by the police, murder accusations tend to linger. Especially when devil-talk was used to fear monger the overwhelmingly Christian town of Hawkins Indiana.
But you knew Eddie. Not well, but you knew he was just another kid like you, someone who dreaded school and never really fit in. He was no murderer, no kidnapper, just a bit eccentric at most.
“Right.” He felt like an idiot. Of course you didn’t know music was the only thing that could save you from a Vecna attack. You didn’t even know who Vecna was. He wasn’t even sure he knew who Vecna — Harry? 001? — was outside of his D&D campaign. “I’m not trying to kidnap you.”
Oh how he wished he could hit his head into the pavement. But, he was pretty sure that would just make everything worse.
“I appreciate that.” It wasn’t the most reassuring sentence, but it calmed his nerves nonetheless. He hasn’t seen you since before the whole Vecna mess and had no clue what you’d think of him now. You were always friendly with him before but a nagging voice in his head told him that it was more out of pity than anything else. “Is there… something you wanted?” His eyes widened and he stood up straighter,
“Yeah! Yeah, there is.”
Steve’s voice rang out in his mind, Just tell them. Worst thing that could happen is that they don’t feel the same. Eddie argued with that, because that was the worst thing that could happen to Steve The Hair Harrington, not Eddie The Freak Munson. What could happen is that you laugh in his face, sneer at him, accuse him of trying to persuade to join a cult. Besides, Steve was pretty used to rejection at this point. Eddie never told anyone that he likes them.
But he almost died. He almost died knowing that he never even tried to tell you how he felt. And you deserved to know that someone loved you as strongly as he did because this godforsaken school couldn’t see what was special about you. You were never really there, always consumed by music or a book, a lot of the times, both. He didn’t think you heard what they called you. A nerd who didn’t have a life, someone who couldn’t make friends, an antisocial loser. But one day while you were sitting at the edge of Hellfire’s lunch table, far from the group and head in a book, some asshole walked past and scoffed at the sight of you,
“Can’t even make friends with the freaks.”
He saw your body lightly shake, thinking that you were about to cry but instead you lifted your head, watching the person walk away and laughing. Someone just insulted you yet you laughed at them. You were laughing to yourself and it was one of the best things Eddie’s ever heard. If only Henderson could’ve shut up for a second so he could hear better.
Yeah, you were something special. A dreamer, Eddie thought. Eddie was too, just in a different way. He constantly dreamt about leaving this town and getting as far away as possible. But your dreams were already taking you away. Sure, you were here, but mentally you were in whatever world you wanted.
You deserved to know these things. And what he considered a selfish part of him also just wanted to get it off his chest, maybe even hear that you felt the same way.
“What is it?”
“I, uh, I wanted to tell you that…” You’ve never seen him for a loss of words. You placed a hand on his shoulder and caught his eyes with yours,
“Hey, it’s okay. If you don’t wanna say it, don’t feel pressured t—”
“I really like you,” he blurted it out, immediately feeling much better. It didn’t matter what happened next anymore, he got to say it. You blinked a few times, questioning your ears before you asked,
“Say that again? Didn’t quite catch it.”
Okay, so maybe it did matter what happened next.
Somehow any confidence evaporated from his body.
“Can you help me?” You knew that wasn’t it. He drastically changed his sentence. You didn’t doubt yourself any longer. You knew what he said. “I want to tell you about my planned D&D campaign, see what you think. You seem like you’d be really good with that,” his eyes flickered to your school bag, knowing that it held at least two fiction books in there, one just incase you finished the first. You smiled,
“Yeah. I’d love too. It’s pretty cool, you know. Being Dungeon Master. You’re like an author of your own chose your adventure story.”
He nodded, not sure what to say to that. You pulled a pen out from your bag, taking his hand into yours and looking to his eyes. He gave you another nod, a smaller one this time. You wrote your number on the back of his hand,
“It’s normally busy after school — my sibling’s got too many friends to count — but try whenever.” When you let go, he looked at his hand, immediately skipping over the seven digits to the words written underneath. I really like you.
Those words were seemingly weaved into his soul now.
Now it was your turn to be shy, not even waiting to cap your own before staring to walk backwards,
“Talk to you later.” He nodded, only looking up to catch you right before turning around,
“Yeah, later.”
Soon, his dreams would change. And they’d come true too, a future full of rock and tours and you, by his side with matching tattoos of “I really like you,” his almost exactly like it was in pen and yours with a wonderfully sharp scrawl.

where did all the time go
Story: you try to move on with your life after Eddie's death but Hawkins is still on the verge of being swallowed by the Upside Down.
This chapter: Eddie is back, alive and well, and with barely a scratch on him. Or are things just too good to be true?
Word count: 2766
Warning: 18+ for explicit smut and language
It was him. But it couldn’t be, you watched him die. You saw the life drain from his eyes.
“Eddie?” your voice was shaking.
He finally lowered his arms and looked at you.
His face was covered in blood and dirt, eyes stained red from his tears but his expression lit up when he saw you.
“Y/N?” his voice was weak,” You’re alive?!”
He stood up, suddenly finding the energy to move but you flinched when he tried to come closer, holding up your hands in defense.
“Stay back.”
“Y/N?” he repeated, a look of confusion on his face. The last time he saw you you were fighting demobats with Steve, everything after that was a blur.
The lights were still flickering above your heads and you could feel your heart race.
“You can’t be real, I watched you die.”
“Y/N, it’s me,” he lowered his hands and stayed put, showing you he was not a threat.
But it didn’t convince you yet.
You just couldn’t connect it in your head, the only logical explanation was that you were hallucinating and if that was the case this wasn’t Eddie but something far more dangerous.
Your head was fighting with your heart, you wanted him back so bad you wanted to believe it was real, but how could it?
Tears filled your eyes and you were shaking your head, whispering to yourself,“Wake up, wake up, wake up!”
“It’s me, Y/N,” Eddie kept repeating.
“How do I know that for sure?”
He grabbed a pillow from your bed and thew it at you, hitting you right in the face.
“Aww!”
“It’s me, you’re not dreaming, I’m here.”
The pillow slid from your hands onto the floor, you could do nothing but stare at him in shock.
”Eddie?” your voice trembled and tears filled your eyes," How?"
“I don’t know,” Eddie started crying too.
It was enough to break you and you let go of your last fear and stepped forward, falling into his arms, the both of you clinging to the other for life.
“I thought you were gone,” you cried, burying your face into his neck.
“I was…I think, I…I can’t remember what happened.”
You leaned back to look at him,” What do you remember?”
“I remember Dustin, he was holding me and then everything went black. After that I…I was searching for you but I couldn’t find you anywhere, I didn’t know where I was, I thought…I was so scared…,” he sobbed out the last words and you pulled him closer again.
“It’s okay, you found me,” you tried to comfort him even though you were crying just as much as he was.
Neither of you wanted to break the hug but you realized he needed to get cleaned up, and you had no idea how badly injured he was underneath all the blood.“You need a doctor, or a hospital.”
“I’m fine,” he shrugged,” What I need is a shower.”
You helped him into the bathroom and grabbed some clean towels while Eddie started undressing.
When you turned around you found him staring at himself in the mirror, a look of horror on his face.
“What’s wrong?” you asked worried.
“I didn’t know I looked…this bad. Shit.”
“It’s okay,” you tried to comfort him,”It’s just blood, it’ll wash off. Right?”
You hoped.
He smiled nervously and started unbuttoning his jeans while you let the water run. You wanted to give him some privacy and head back to the bedroom to find him some clothes but when you tried to move past him he reached for your hand. His touch sent chills right up your spine.
“Stay,” he whispered,”Please.”
He was completely naked now and while you’d been with him like this many times this time felt different. You were nervous and you weren’t sure why.
Eddie took his time to look at you, taking you in from top to bottom. His intense gaze doing nothing for your nerves. Then he carefully grabbed the hem of your shirt and pulled it over your head, slowly undressing you.
“I got blood all over you,” his voice was low and quiet,”You should join me.”
You couldn’t stop looking at him, even with all the blood and dirt on him he still looked so beautiful. His hands moved over your hips, fingers hooking into your panties to pull them down, never taking his eyes off you as he kneeled down to help you step out of them.
He took your hand again and you followed him into the shower. Neither of you spoke a word while you rinsed the blood off him, not wanting to break this tension that was now hanging between the both of you. The water, as red as the sky outside, disappeared into the drain. You took your time to wash his hair and he did the same for you, his touch gentle but focussed. You leaned into it and smiled. Eddie’s eyes were closed when you washed his back and shoulders.
The more blood washed down the drain the more you noticed he barely had any scars on him. For a guy who nearly died he looked amazingly well.
Eddie turned around to meet your eyes and the sight of him took your breath away. No more blood, just his face, his beautiful gorgeous face, with those innocent doe eyes and soft smile you had fallen for so hard some six months ago. This was your Eddie.
Your emotions were getting the better of you again and you started crying.
“Hey, what’s wrong, sweetheart?” Eddie cupped your face to look deep into your eyes. His thumb gently brushed away the tears that fell down your cheek while he leaned in closer.
”Hey, it’s okay, cry baby,” he teased.
You laughed through your tears and leaned into his touch, wrapping your arms around his stomach.
He hugged you back,“I’m here now,” he soothed you,”It’s gonna be okay.”
Then he leaned in to kiss you, soft and a little hesitant at first until you put your arms around his neck and pulled him closer.
His next kiss wasn’t soft, it was hungry and needy and it made you weak on your feet. You needed him so much it scared you.
Eddie pushed you up against the wall of the shower, deepening the kiss while his hands moved up to cup your breasts. You couldn’t suppress a little moan when his thumbs grazed your nipples and he smiled at your reaction. When he was done kissing your lips he moved down to your neck, playfully biting your earlobe before kissing and licking his way down to your collarbone.
Your breathing was speeding up quickly and so was his.
“Fuck, Eddie, please,” you whined softly.
You could feel him chuckle against your neck, pleased to see how quickly you reacted to him touching you, just like it had always been.
His hands were now on your hips, teasing your hipbone with his thumb. That little gentle touch was enough to drive you insane, he always knew exactly how to get you there.
“I need you,” you breathed, fingers tangling into his hair to encourage him.
He kissed you again, slow and deep and then he moved one hand down in between your legs. You gasped when he found your clit and he grinned into the kiss.
“God, I love how needy you get for me,” he breathed and started making slow circles with his fingers. You bit down on his lip to keep from moaning out loud and that only spurred him on.
You had forgotten how much you’d physically missed him. Not just the sex but having him this close to you, bodies pressed together, him teasing you and bringing you so close to that edge you could scream. Completely at the mercy of his touch, knowing he would always give you what you needed.
You moved your hips up against his fingers, desperately seeking more. You couldn’t hold back your moans any longer. Every sound coming from your lips was music to his ears. Seeing you surrender to him like this was his favorite part. You were coming undone, clinging to his back as your orgasm hit you. Eddie let you ride it out, holding you up on your feet until it was over.
When you opened your eyes again he was already looking at you, eyes so dark it made you shiver.
You pulled him in to kiss him again, feeling his erection press against your thigh. For a while you just kissed, coming down from your high and Eddie didn’t rush you. He just caressed your hair and indulged in making out, slowly, savoring every moment. But after a while you noticed how hard he was breathing and his erection was still pressing against your leg, he was rock hard now.
You reached down and jerked him slowly, causing Eddie to lose control for a moment.
“Fuck,” he grunted and he leaned his forehead against yours, seeking eye contact and biting his lip. He started thrusting up into your hand, desperate for more but patient enough to wait until you would give it to him.
You kissed his neck and his shoulders, one hand moving down to cup his ass while the other was still working his cock. He was breathing heavily now, you could tell he was getting close so you slowed down a little causing him to whine and swear under his breath.
“Please…fuck, I need you,” he moaned into your ear, voice low and filled with want.
You jerked him a couple more times before giving in and guiding him to where he wanted to be.
You both breathed heavily when he finally moved into you, eyes searching yours and holding your gaze as he started moving his hips. He fucked you slowly, never rushing and never breaking eye contact only to kiss you again. One hand moved back down between your legs to tease your clit.
Any control you just had you lost in this moment and you gladly handed it back to him.
“Harder,” you begged him,”Please.”
He moaned obscenely loud when you bit his lip and scratched his back.
You didn’t need to ask again. Every thrust hit you a little deeper and a little faster now, quickly bringing you towards the brink again and you could tell he was just as close as you were but he wouldn’t come before you did. He was always a gentleman like that.
“Don’t stop,” your voice was shaking with how much you needed it.
Eddie grabbed your hair and pulled down hard, exposing your neck so he could lick your skin, making you scream when he left little bite marks on your shoulder.
You came only a few seconds before he did and it felt like you disappeared with him, there was only you and Eddie and everything else fell away. You clung to him for dear life, taking him over the edge with you. He fell apart in your arms, moaning your name over and over.
He didn’t let go of you for several more minutes after that, he just hugged you and caressed your hair while whispering sweet nothings into your ear and you knew this was what heaven must be like if there was one. You wanted to stay inside his hug forever.
Eventually you both got out of the shower and helped each other dry off and put on clean clothes. Eddie brushed your hair while trying to steal kisses and you tickled him any chance you got just to hear him laugh again.
God, you had missed his laugh so much.
He moved to stand behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist, hugging you tightly, resting his head on your shoulder. His eyes met yours in the mirror in front of you and you both couldn’t stop smiling at each other.
“Listen,” Eddie then spoke softly and a bit more serious,”As much as I love this cozy bubble we’ve got going on here and I wouldn’t mind staying here forever, at some point we’re going to have to address what’s out there.”
“Out there?” you put your hands over his and leaned back into his hug,”I don’t know what you’re talking about, Eddie Munson, I only know in here. Inside good, outside bad.”
You pulled a face and Eddie laughed, making your heart melt again.
But you knew he was right, you couldn’t keep denying that the sky was falling down out there.
“We can’t stay here,” Eddie pointed out.
“Yeah, I know,” you sighed and turned around to look at him,”I just wished we had a little more time.”
Eddie pulled you close again,”I plan on having a lot more time with you, but if we stay here I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen so…”
You nodded,”I’ll pack some stuff, can you find us a car?”
He gave you a smile,”Who do you think you’re talking to? Give me 10 minutes.”
***
You were just in the middle of packing when your phone lit up with a text from Steve.
“Get out of Hawkins, asap.”
You rolled your eyes but also smiled at his persistence to keep you alive.
Another one: “Asap means now.”
You grabbed your phone to answer him but before you could type Steve texted again. “For once do as I tell you.”
You laughed and started typing,”We’re leaving today, I promise, don’t worry.”
“Who’s we?”
”I know this is going to sound strange and I can’t explain it but Eddie’s here,” you texted back with a smile on your face.
It stayed quiet for a moment on the other end and then you got a text back that wiped the smile off your face and made a chill run up your spine.
“Y/N, are you sure that’s Eddie?”
You didn’t get time to text back because Steve called you.
You answered immediately,“What do you mean are you sure that’s Eddie??”
“Where are you?”
“I’m in the bathroom.”
“Are you alone?”
“Yes, Steve, tell me what the fuck is going on right now.”
“Listen, some things have been happening here, it’s hard to explain.”
“Try.”
“The Eddie you’re seeing might not be our Eddie.”
“The fuck does that mean?”
“It means I need you to get out of there and get away from him.”
“Steve,” you were shaking your head,” No, I can’t…”
“I know, okay,” his voice turned softer,”I know, but…please trust me on this, can you do that for me? Please, Y/N?”
You stayed quiet but you’d started shaking and tears were forming in your eyes.
It couldn’t be, not after everything that just happened in the shower, the way he kissed you, made love to you, looked at you. That couldn’t be anything or anyone else other than your Eddie.
You would know.
Wouldn’t you?
“You need to get out of there,” Steve urged you again but you were no longer listening.
“Y/N, are you still there? Did you hear what I just said?!”
You turned off your phone and pushed back the tears, trying to block all the bad and scary thoughts from your mind. Trust your heart.
“Trust your heart,” you whispered, trying to convince yourself.
You let out a shaky breath before looking at yourself in the mirror, gathering the strength to take the next step.
You stuffed some last things in your bag and made your way to the living room.
Eddie was just walking in as you closed the door of the bathroom behind you.
He walked up to you with a beaming smile and took the bag from your hands,” Ready to go?”
“Yeah, I just…,”you grabbed his shirt and pulled him close, holding him there so you could take the time to look deep into his eyes.
“Everything okay?” Eddie asked while gently cupping your cheek and giving you a worried look.
“Yeah, I…” you bit your lip and shook your head and Eddie leaned in to press his forehead against yours. His big brown doe eyes staring right back at you with so much love in them it made everything else fade away.
You knew these eyes, you fell in love with these eyes, and that smile, and your life hadn’t been the same since.
Whatever Steve saw or heard, he was wrong.
“Let’s get out of here,” you smiled.
