There goes the gayest woman this town has ever seen 🥵🏳️🌈🧡🧡
I just realized in The Great War that the “her” referenced in the lines below is The Anti-Hero:
I always wondered who the “her” was because Taylor flips pronouns a lot, but it was one throwaway line. At first I wondered if someone was whispering in her ear to sway her and then I realized… yes someone was, but it’s actually Taylor, herself (the Anti-Hero Taylor).
Taylor thought she was the hero of The Great War but she was actually the Anti-Hero. Her ego took over and convinced her of betrayal and she almost lost her lover because of it.
in regards to 'daylight' being taylor's metaphor for coming out...& the failed coming out of 2019...look at these lyrics from the songs 'daylight' 'the alchemy' and 'fresh out the slammer':
after all, she did say: 'Come one, come all, it's happenin' again'
WHOS AFRAID OF LITTLE OLD ME
‼️‼️‼️🗣️🗣️🗣️
I can’t imagine not viewing this album through a queer lens
a straight ally doesn’t know about the sort of lesbian and queer history that only lesbians and other queer people would know about.
i have lost sm much sleep and time thinking about taylor’s pride speech before delicate on the rep tour. her body language speaks VOLUMESSSS and you can tell how nervous she was, especially at the part where she mentions people who haven’t come out yet..no straight person would get that emotional over it?? i just don’t understand how anyone can interpret that speech as anything other than the words of a closeted queer woman
&& with one of the songs on TTPD being 'but daddy i love him'...connecting the dots...
1. It was New Year’s Eve. So Midnight is still a big theme.
2. Dressed as their “childhood heroes”… she’s coming back to herself… getting her legs back to be with her love… I can’t 🥹
my english degree was sooo worth it
can we talk about 'the albatross' reference to 'candle in the wind'??
"Wise men once said / 'Wild winds are death to the candle'"
like??
The thing that is striking me the most about this album is just how messy and human it is. She’s not holding anything back or trying to appear one way or another. She’s just letting it all out regardless of what anyone might say. She found that trying to be polished and keep all the ugly, imperfect, human stuff in to be stifling and just said fuck it I need to do this for me. This album was an exorcism for her.
I’m not crazy, the stage lighting has really gone incredibly orange 🧡🤨
(Also noticed that the bracelets just went orange and white during BDILH)
