Learning your own nation’s bad history is like having had a gash in your arm. Should it be ignored the wound will get infected and grow to become much worse than it originally was. But, if you take the time to acknowledge it we can start to understand the wound and what we need in order to make it heal. We can start to dress it, and give effort into making it better and it will become as scar. Visible but also a sign of growth.

If we allow nationalist education to be taught our wounds will be infected and hate will become widespread. We need to acknowledge America isn’t perfect, not just in the past but especially now. So we can start to understand what steps we need to take to start to heal and grow to be better, and not get any more gashes.

Just realized that white Christians don’t tend to understand privilege well because they blame every advantage they have (staying safe around cop, getting jobs, not getting hate crimes, getting good salaries, etc) as a blessing from God.
