Jackson is not just a nerd he is also crazy and petty and jealous and mean sometimes. He is also a little bit stupid.

And Holt is NOT cool. Holt keeps up what he perceives as a cool guy persona but is simply NOT a cool guy. He has anger issues, no social queues, basically no friends, and canonically most people find him annoying.
