Sometimes I think about those high res Jupiter pics and then think about Van Gogh and get emotional because it’s like this one, lonely man that didn’t experience an ounce of fame or recognition in his life time had the image of the universe in his head and he didn’t know it.

I got 4 and almost died

1996 photos (a Polaroid and the proposed cover) that were meant to have been on the cover of Wired magazine in the UK. I think I preferred the one they finally used from a different part of the photoshoot because it was impossible to see what I looked like in it, so I was on the cover of a magazine and anonymous at the same time. But these were sweet. I guess they would have painted out the wires if they had used one of them.

Tonight I gave Art Spiegelman the National Book Awards Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. And we're both being banned. Some of you may think this is a good thing because you don't like my books or you don't care for Maus. But I guarantee that there are books you love on the banned lists too. That's why libraries and librarians fight for their rights to have all the books on the shelves and for your rights to read them. And it's why I support them.
