"As the universe settled, amongst the creations yet unknown, the faintest pulse of life stirred in the cosmos: one called Time."

Since the beginning of time, time entities have structured the rules of the universe, events, eras, rises and falls of empires, all at the delicate hand of those who can weave it. Yet, there will always be oddities, miscalculations and curveballs thrown at even the simplest of plans. Heroes where none should be had, humanity where tyranny should prevail, despair in times of hope.

You are such an oddity, you brought the risk of humanity evolving leaps before its time, risked bringing peace in the eras of destruction, a voice of reason in the time of fools. You, simply being, risked the structure of time.

Linear Flux is an IF (interactive fiction) where you, the reader, find yourself taken by a time bureau as to prevent your actions from having brought a catastrophic change to your time. It is rated 18+ for violence, time relevant bigotry, sexual themes.

You were a valuable asset, one too valuable to fully rid themselves off, and have now (with little say on your end) been brought in as a part of the Vanguard group, a group of individuals from different eras of time, all brought together to prevent time from imploding on itself, and for humanity to take its course.

This is a work of fiction and will therefor take grand leaps in its historical accuracy, so take everything with a grain of salt (but do let me know if I have in anyway misrepresented, misread or gotten something wrong when any historical thing is mentioned!) It is loosely based on our Earth and I've taken some major liberties with city names and made up events, character and places. Linear Flux is a romance based 18+ IF story due to its heavy themes, violence and sexual themes (optional when it comes to romance!) There will be a list of trigger warnings I heavily suggest you read before delving into this story, and they will all be referenced before each chapter (or possibly before the prologue.)

In Linear Flux you can play as the following: ✵Non-binary, male, female, trans, cis. ✵Gay, straight, bisexual, pansexual. ✵Choose your origins: be the violent but bold warrior, the idealistic but kind poet, the clever but pragmatic inventor or the cruel but charming assassin.

Meet a varied cast of possible RO's (romance options)

-Scott/Sonya Leyton 32 [M/F] The Saboteur Possible Poly with H

S is a Southern gentlefolk, with a heavy accent fitting their robust frame well. Once out of their shell, their usual quietness is replaced with a open heart and kindness, their mama didn't raise no fool after all! But will their sorrow for leaving their family behind eventually catch up? And when it does, will you be there to help them stay in the saddle? S is from 1875, from the Wild West American frontier, where they were part of a gang. •As Scott, he is 6'3, Caucasian with sun kissed freckled skin, his hair is an unruly short crop in a copper colour, and his eyes are a deep welcoming blue, he is stocky and fairly hairy. Hidden behind his usually covered chest there are two distinct scars, a bullet wound under his left pectoral and a large gash across his upper chest. •As Sonya, she is 5'9, Caucasian with sun kissed freckled skin, her hair is shoulder length and a messy copper colour, eyes a deep blue, she is curvy but athletic and has natural body hair. Hidden behind her usually covered chest there are two distinct scars, a bullet wound under her left breast and a large gash across her upper chest.

-Hakiem Nujum 29 [M] The Liberator Asexual/Possible Poly with S

Hakiem is a gentle soul, with a soft demeanour and fondness for freedom and baking, along with him comes the smell of freshly baked bread, thyme and a hint of Kyphi. He holds the essence of family tightly to his chest and is more than eager to let you become a part of it, but is he willing to let go of his past to fully embrace you?

Hakiem is from 237 BCE and from Egypt, where he worked as a scribe. •He has dark golden skin, being from a Persian-Egyptian lineage, his eyes are a golden amber and his hair a curly shoulder length dark brown which he has styled into a more modern haircut. He is 5'8 and has a lean and rather thin swimmers build, his skin is usually decorated with golden jewellery, such as his nose stud and lower lip stud, his body lightly dusted with hair.

-Elton/Edna Hawksford 41 [M/F] The Hound

E is unapproachable, a wall built high on the base of nobility, their heavy British accent harsh and cutting, leaving no room for building relationships. Though seen as the leader, their iron fist is softened by their apparent love for the team, and once you've earned your place in their eyes, maybe you will be able to get a glimpse behind that British façade, and see a more honest and broken veteran. But will their flaws be too much for you to handle, or will you show them that even those with a past are worthy of redemption?

E is Scottish but lived most of their life in England during 1765. •As Elton, he is 5'7, Caucasian, with a rosy pale complexion. Originally from Scotland he has trained away his accent from years playing the game of nobility. His hair is greying, hair wavy and in a slicked back style, though still peaking is his natural mousey brown. His eyes are a dull grey, cold and calculating. His body is one of a veteran, scarred and muscular, with a layer of fat over it, he is broad and holds himself like one much taller. On his back is a plethora of scars, with hints of past scraps and years of service to a 'greater good'. He is very hairy all over, except his back. •As Edna, she is 5'6, Caucasian, with a rosy pale complexion. Originally from Scotland she has trained away her accent from years of playing the game of nobility. Her hair is greying, a wavy style that's slicked back and reaching her shoulders, her natural brown hair still hinting through. Her eyes are an icy grey, cold and calculating. Her body is one of a veteran, scarred and muscular, with a layer of fat over it, she is broad but slightly curvy and she holds herself with elegance. On her back is a plethora of scars, hints of past battles and hidden trauma from living up to the eyes of nobility. She maintains a pristine body grooming ritual and only has a faint dusting of hair on her underarms.

-Mateo/Matt 30 [M/F] The Defiant Possible Poly with Sigurd

M is analytical, and the very definition of stoic, very literal and to the point about most things, lacking social cues. They are an older model of a fashion android, now attempting to live a life for the first time in their existence. Now having a chosen name, identity and a choice to become more than what they once were. But living a life when one was never an option can break the strongest of humans, so what will it do to someone who isn't one?

M is from 2128 in a futuristic version of a collective union in Europe. •As Mateo, he is 6'4, he has deep dark umber skin with hints of bluish hues by his joints, his eyes are an electrical blue and inhuman, his hair long and white, completely straight, reaching down to his waist, if not lower, and he is ethereal in an eerie way. His body is tall and sleek, with a wider chest and almost sculpted look to him, as if a marble statue. •As Matt, she is 6'0, she has deep dark umber skin with hints of bluish hues by her joints, her eyes are an electrical blue and appear inhuman, her hair short and white, a choppy straight cut, the longest parts reaching her cheeks, and she harbours an ethereal essence. She is tall and sleek, with a very pronounced chest and an hourglass figure, soft and curved, as if a marble statuette.

-The Boss 200,000 [M/F/NB] The Boss Possible Poly with Sigurd

The Boss is a mystery in and of themselves, who they are, their origins and their purpose. Being one of the time entities, they are closer to man than any of their kind, holding it close to their proverbial heart, perhaps with a hint of something other than order dictates. When it all falls on their shoulders, will you be able to keep them steady?

•As a time entity their appearance will not vary much, the only difference between them being slight alterations in body type, The Boss will always be 6'2 regardless of chosen gender and rather plain in their appearance, the only striking factor being their skin in its close resemblance to concrete, slight cracks and corrosion hidden under a well-fitted suit. Their hair is almost shaved to the scalp, and a steel grey colour, similar to how their eyes also lack much contrast to the rest of them. Their body is chiselled, well structured and lacks much body hair, but they have in a way adopted the custom from humans.

-Sigurd Gunnírsson/Sednadottír 27 [M/F] The Lover Possible Poly route with M or The Boss.

Sigurd is a lover, through and through, and is defined by their lust for life. They are quick to love and even quicker to befriend, eager to take in all that time and life has to offer them. But is the bubbly and hopeful view of life an act? And who will wind up loving them, when even they can't seem to muster up enough love for themself?

Sigurd is Icelandic/Irish and is from 862 CE Ireland. •As Gunnírsson, he is 5'10, Caucasian with Rosy porcelain skin covered in heavy layers of freckles. He has wavy locks of auburn hair, reaching down to his chest, with braids and beads interwoven out of wood and bone. He sports a thick well kept beard and has piercings in his ears, septum and nipples. He is heavily built with pudge, and his arms have tattoos from travels overseas and from home, the most prominent being the Gebo on his right hand. He is very hairy and takes pride in his appearance. •As Sednadottír, she is 5'7, Caucasian with Rosy porcelain skin covered in heavy layers of freckles. She has wavy locks of auburn hair, shaved on the sides to create a mohawk with braids added and bone beads woven in. She has piercings in both ears, her septum and her nipples. She is heavily built with pudge, giving her a curvy figure, and her arms have tattoos from travels overseas and from home, the most prominent being the Gebo on her right hand. She is hairy and takes pride in her appearance.

Sherlock Holmes is someone with introverted, intuitive, thinking, and prospecting personality traits. He is a flexible thinker, enjoying an unconventional approach to many aspects of life. He often seek out unlikely paths, mixing willingness to experiment with personal creativity. Holmes prides himself, on his unique perspectives and vigorous intellect. Sherlock can’t help but puzzle over the mysteries of the universe , which may explain how he became a private detective and consultant. His type of demeanour is fairly rare, but with his creativity and inventiveness, Sherlock isn't afraid to stand out from the crowd. From the outside, Sherlock Holmes may seem to live in a never-ending daydream.

Strengths:

߷ Analytical – Holmes analyses everything that he comes across, from research data to the behaviour of the surrounding people. This gives him a knack for spotting unexpected patterns and connections that other people might overlook.

߷ Open-Minded – Sherlock is driven by curiosity and an intense desire to learn everything that he can. He tends to be receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things as long as those ideas are supported by sound reasoning.

߷ Curious – Holmes is always casting about for new pursuits, hobbies, and areas of research. One week, he might be obsessed in a case with a serial killer, and the next, he might lose themselves the case of a missing aristocrat. When inspiration strikes, Sherlock goes all in on his newfound interest, learning everything that he can.

߷ Objective – Holmes cares about the truth. Rather than taking comfort in ideology or received ideas, he wants to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface of things. As a result, he can be relied upon to combat bias and misinformation, even when it isn’t easy to do so, and he expects other people to be honest with them in return.

Weaknesses:

߷ Disconnected – Sherlock can get lost in his own train of thought, even when he's with other people. When these Sherlock finally resurface with something to say, he may find that the conversation has moved on without him. This can cause Holmes to feel disconnected from other people, especially in large social gatherings.

߷ Impatient – Holmes takes pride in his knowledge and in sharing his ideas. When it comes to explaining his rationale, however, he isn’t always patient. If his conversation partner doesn’t follow along or seem sufficiently interested, Holmes may give up with a dismissive “never mind.”

߷ Perfectionists – Holmes want to get things done, but his quest for perfection can get in the way. At times, Sherlock may get so lost in analysing various options that he never reached a decision.

Conclusion :

What you have read so far is just an introduction to the many complexities of the Logician personality type. I 98% sure that Tsumugi views the director romantically, there's also in this one backstage first year playboy that he thought Izumi was cute when she winked at him, Banri even joke about Tsumugi doesnt need to go to goukon just to know how to dealing with woman lol.

Ok, so I feel like Kazunari and Tenma also have a crush on Izumi. Are there any boys other than Masumi and Sakyo that like her? A lot of things are hinted

Anon, let me tell you, this game is a freaking reverse harem; therefore the only acceptable answer is that everyone is attracted to Izumi to some extent sksksksk

I can’t say about the rookies bc I don’t follow the JP server that closely, but this is my personal opinion on how each troupe views Izumi. Feel free to disagree! Also I’d like to clarify that this does not reflect who I ship Izumi with.

Mankai’s Relationships with Izumi:

Spring Troupe:

Sakuya Sakuma: Admires Izumi for her tenacity and passion for theater. Deeply grateful for the opportunity she created for him by keeping the Mankai company alive. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Masumi Usui: Does this boy even need an explanation. Infatuated with the director; probably sees something in Izumi that draws him to her, might have something to do with his family issues. Still an immature bb tho and probably doesn’t have a good grip on how romantic relationships are supposed to work. Nonetheless, the attraction is real. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Tsuzuru Minagi: More or less same as Sakuya. Although there have been some instances where Tsuzuru has made some comments about Izumi, they can be interpreted loosely - I personally view it as friendly flirting. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Itaru Chigasaki: I’m kinda iffy on this one. I think that the potential is there, but I don’t think that Itaru is ready to fully commit to a serious relationship. He’s appreciative of how Izumi understands the real him, and since their ages aren’t that far apart, he's comfortable around her. As such, he teasingly flirts with her because it’s in his personality. I realllyyyy want to say he views her romantically, but ultimately, I think a serious romance is far off from Itaru’s thoughts. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Citron: More or less same as Itaru. But he has the factor of being a foreigner. Like Itaru, I think the potential is there, but Citron is also has other things on his mind and isn’t looking for a serious relationship. The attraction is there, though! Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Summer Troupe:

Tenma Sumeragi: Yep, I agree! It’s strongly hinted that he has a crush on Izumi. This probably stems from the fact that she was the one who supported him when he was vulnerable, and helped him overcome his weaknesses. I don’t approve though bc age disparity. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Yuki Rurikawa: I can’t recall any shippy moments between them? I view their relationship as a platonic, sibling-like one. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Muku Sakisaka: He’s admitted that he thinks that Izumi is attractive but I think it’s more of a fact to him than an opinion, if you get what I mean? He like acknowledges that she is an attractive woman, but he himself is not romantically attracted to her. Heck, he ships her with other members. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Misumi Ikaruga: Also iffy for me. In general, Misumi is a very affectionate person. He definitely likes Izumi, so she is also subject to his affections. Are they romantic affections, though? I’m not so sure. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Kazunari Miyoshi: I definitely think he’s attracted to her. Not sure how deep it goes, but there have been multiple instances that hint that he likes Izumi. Izumi often shoots him down, but I do believe that his intentions are genuine - it’s just that his personality makes it seem like he isn’t, and he isn’t the type to let it affect him too much. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Autumn Troupe:

Banri Settsu: Yep! It’s also been strongly hinted that Banri is attracted to Izumi. In various backstage stories he’s been shown to be jealous of other members when they interact with Izumi, and he tries to show off in front of her. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Juza Hyodo: Mmmmm kinda iffy? Like some other members, he definitely holds a deep admiration and appreciation for Izumi due to the opportunity she gave them. But there are also some moments that make me think that he could possibly have a crush on her, but he hasn’t realized it yet. But ultimately, I don’t think so. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Taichi Nanao: More or less same as Tenma. Is more upfront about it though, similar to Kazunari. The age disparity, though, hmmmmm. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Omi Fushimi: Whether he realizes it or not, I think he is attracted to Izumi. Many of his backstories show him opening up to Izumi, being protective of her, complimenting her, etc. He’s also quite flirty with her, too. But idk, there’s this vibe that I get from him that makes it seem like he’s holding himself back? Anyway... Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Sakyo Furuichi: The biggest simp of them all. ngl kinda hard to elaborate on this bc it’s so painfully obvious and it just makes sense. Definitely. Yes. Their history? Their interactions? *chef’s kiss* Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Winter Troupe:

Tsumugi Tsukioka: My gut tells me yes! There are some backstories that hint at it - he becomes quite bashful and blushy around the director. There’s this one that I can’t quite remember clearly, but it had something to do with flower language and my heart was just - uwu. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Tasuku Takato: Too much of a theater junkie to focus on romantic relationships. I don’t even mean this in a joking manner - I vaguely remember Tasuku saying something about him being completely focused on his acting. That being said, he does like to playfully tease Izumi - it probably comes with being around the same age and living in close quarters - but yeah, nothing serious. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Hisoka Mikage: More or less like Citron, I think. The potential is there, but Hisoka has more pressing matters to focus on besides romance. He’s too deep in his own issues to actively pursue a romantic relationship. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Homare Arisugawa: Now, this may seem a bit controversial, but I personally believe that Homare is one of the least invested members in the company. For him, it’s another way to express his artistry. Yes, he does have meaningful relationships with the members of the company, but I feel like he’s one of the members that is least in it for the sake of passion for theater. Their relationship is more of a working/colleagues/friends one - I really don’t see the two in a romantic light. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Azuma Yukishiro: More or less same as Itaru, but with more angst. I think he’s attracted to Izumi. There is potential. But I feel like Azuma tends to distance himself from more serious relationships? He has personal issues that he needs to overcome first. But he does enjoy playfully teasing Izumi - the whole company, really - he just has a flirtatious nature in general. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically.

every single amy ship gets like 1000% better once you realise that the initial crush on sonic is like. her gateway into edgy losers. her entry into the I Can Fix Them subgenre.

cause sonic himself is not particurly edgy but he is like The Rebel Bad Boy who has Attitude and Spunk and hes frequently Rude To People In Authority. sonic is very much nelson muntz levels of edgy. his levels of darkness and evil bottom out at "one time i got angry and yelled at a bird and it horrified me to my very core".

but then amy meets shadow who is going through The Horrors and its like. ooooh this is a new flavour this is a new spice hi whats your deal? and metal sonic is just grooving with the whole "being crushed beneath the existential weight of my existence" vibe and thats just catnip to amy. and then blaze is just Tragically Distant and Morose and oh wow thats cute hey girl what you doing tonight? and then SURGE is just like. ten billion red flags and a flashing neon sign going YOU CANT FIX HER only for amy to take that as a challenge

You remember Wren barefoot on the cliff’s edge, the salt spray catching in her hair, her eyes blazing with something fierce, something breakable all at once. She turned toward you, grinning like she knew a secret you hadn't earned yet, and said in a jovial voice: "One day, we’ll go so far out the waves can’t find us. Promise me you’ll come too." You never answered. You thought you had forever. "You used to be my anchor. Now you're the mystery pulling me under."

Ash Vega - M/F (29)

Runs a small surf repair and outfitting shop that's struggling to survive under the corporate tech expansions. Ash’s hands were steady even when the world wasn’t. You remember them pressing a hand over yours, guiding you to fix a cracked fin on your first board. "It’s not broken. Just needs someone who won’t give up on it." You didn’t realize until later that they weren't talking about the board at all. "You left. I stayed. Don’t expect it to be easy between us."

Kye Onari - M/F (26)

Kye came to the Cove, riding the strange waves without fear — and might know more about the ocean's changing patterns than they admit. You remember Kye laughing, reckless and wild, as they dove straight into a rip current like they could outrun death itself. "If you’re not scared, it’s not worth it." You stood frozen on the sand that day — and Kye never looked back. "You think you can keep secrets from the ocean? You're adorable."

Imani Reyes - F (30)

A researcher specializing in tech-oceanic anomalies. The first time you saw Imani, she was kneeling on the rocks, studying a tide pool like it was a portal to another world. She didn’t notice you watching until she said, softly: "Everything leaves traces if you know where to look." When your eyes met, you felt like you were the one being studied. "You make me want to believe in things I shouldn't."

Cassian "Cass" Rook - M (31)

Act like nothing matters, but every scar says otherwise. Cass stood alone by the firepit, one foot grinding lazy circles into the sand, a cigarette burning low between two fingers. He stared up at the stars — half the constellations smothered by the haze of the city beyond the cliffs — and let out a hollow laugh. "Doesn’t matter how good it feels out here. Everything good still finds a way to leave." He said it like a joke, but he didn’t smile. Neither did you. "I’m not here to be your hero. I’m barely here to save myself."
