—Haru would never admit he has a crush on Gou.

Haru always wondered,

Why his eyes never stopped staring — at the silhouette of the young girl, her small body, which he could seemingly grasp, hug and kiss so easily.

No, the last was too much.

But Haru would always wonder.

What was so special about Matsuoka Gou?

She was beautiful, indeed.

Always smiling, obviously.

Cheerful, she had a positive aura like the sun in the morningy.

But was that a reason for Haru to secretly stare at her all the time? Sometimes, he was grateful to be able to hide his feelings behind that flat, emotionless expression. Gou would never notice if Haru's cheeks blushed slightly when the girl accidentally touched his hand, nor would she know if Haru's lips parted slightly when she complimented his triceps.

Gou wouldn't know, she was probably too dense.

Yes, that's a good thing. Haru didn't want others to know his feelings either, especially Gou.

Of course, no one should have realized that he secretly harboured a slight interest in Gou. It seemed he had underestimated the world too much — more precisely his childhood best friend, Tachibana Makoto. "You seem to be paying a lot of attention to Gou lately, Haru." Haru didn't know how his best friend knew when he was so sure he had hidden that slight interest well. It seemed that nice guys were hard to fool.

There was no way Haru would admit it.

"She's our manager as well as our friend, is it wrong if I pay attention to her?" Haru replied in an indifferent tone, he ate his mackerel calmly. Makoto smiled faintly like a mother who had just found out her son was lying. "You clenched your fists when Nagisa hugged her."

"Nagisa should learn about people's personal space."

"You gave Rei a sharp look when he complimented Gou's ponytail pretty."

"His compliments sounded perverted."

Makoto laughed. "Well, if you don't like her I guess it wouldn't hurt if I asked her out, right Haru?"

Haru bit his chopsticks hard. Makoto laughed innocently.

Fuck, he just walked into his trap.

Haru was silent, though he found it a little annoying to hear Makoto laughing innocently when Haru was a little embarrassed about being caught. Makoto stopped laughing, it seemed that he noticed Haru who was silent like a statue, his soft eyes looked at Haru, but Haru chose to look away. "So, you like her Haru?" Makoto asked, just to be sure.

Haru was silent, for about a few minutes before answering. "A little."

A little, you mean a lot, isn't it? Makoto thought to himself in confusion, it was so hard to get Haru to tell him honestly how he felt.

"You should ask her out then."

Haru was silent, again. "No way, I'm graduating next year." His answer sounded a little hesitant, there was an implied sadness with anxiety. "But, are you really okay with leaving it at that? Is it okay for her to date someone else and not you?" Makoto seemed so determined to convince Haru to declare his love for Gou, of course he wanted to but it wasn't easy.

But, the thought of Gou dating someone else and he just looking on, wondering if things would be different if he was more honest was much harder to accept and annoying, yet he found it irritating too.

Haru placed his chopsticks on top of his lunch box. "I'll take her out for a walk this week."

"Good luck, Haru." Makoto smiled, he secretly proud that his best friend can be more honest and at least trying confessing his feelings.

Well, anyway Haru could win that swimming race and getting the first place, why not try to win Matsuoka Gou's heart too?

Well, of course. Haru forgot his biggest obstacle.

"What are you doing in front of my house and asking about my sister, Haru?"

THE GUARD

You see them nearly every day, one would assume he/she was your own personal guard. You don't know how it happened, how Vidalias/Vidalia came to fruition in front of your cell, but, you grew up together - albite on two different sides of wall. Whether it was out of your own violation, and rules that kept him/her quiet, conversation was kept to a minimum. You were left to study his/her bronze armor suit, olive skin with matching brown eyes scarred and torn with countless training methods. You've seen his/her hair only once, and it was cropped short and black to the nape of his/her neck - you maybe even caught the sight of ink trailing down his/her ear.

THE TWIN

A girl/boy who ran across yourself mid-adventure with her/his twin sister, Shavani. She/He was kind, welcoming, the sun that cast a shine across the darkening world. Solara/Sundra has white hair cascading down her/his back, kept tightly in a neat braid with bangs and layers crossing her/his face. Her/His heterochromatic eyes caught your attention first, after the blade, of course. They opened up their arms to you rather quickly, regardless of if you wanted them to or not.

THE TOWNIE

The last of who you've come across, when you were stuck in a sticky situation with the last of your honesty fading out. They have more secrets than hobbies, and there's not much you can describe about Alaric/Asura without mentioning the way they move - it's fluid yet dangerous, and his/her green eyes pierce deeply into the hearts of everyone surrounding him/her. You think it's almost funny, how hypocritical he/she can be - but don't let him/her hear you say that.

That one drama cd when Rin thinks Gou is dating someone and assumes its haru is always running on my mind like why he immediately assumes like that? Does Haru and Gou often seeing each other off screens? This is canon fr if Rin immediately assumes she's dating Haru, lol.

Were there any canon harugou moments that are close to your heart or all of them are headcanons?

Ok so there are literal CRUMBS when it comes to canon HaruGou content but I could still probably write a 17-page thesis on what they are and why I love them. In short, however, my fave moments are:

Reunited for the first time since middle school in Haru's living room and Gou is just eating up Haru's muscles (first guy she does so with, therefore her first love in my eyes).

Haru remembering that she liked being called 'Kou' instead of 'Gou' hngggg (this is where I OTP'd HARD).

His SMOL SMILE when he hears that Gou's joining the club so that they'd be enough members to make it an official team ahhhhh.

'Why do you swim, Haruka-senpai?' MY HEART.

Their general 1-2-1 talks in seasons one and two, when they discuss swimming/Rin/futures. They are comfortable enough and trust each other to talk about these things with one another!!

When they?? Went to the?? Shrine together??? Just the two of them??? To get their fortunes??? WHILE THE OTHERS WAITED OUTSIDE?? GAH.

That super cute moment when Haru's all distracted by some mascot thing and Gou is tugging his jacket from behind trying to get him to listen to her, I DIED BECAUSE THEY WERE TOUCHING.

OK really grasping at straws here but that time Haru looked at her in her yukata for like 0.5 seconds literally birthed a thousand fics in my mind.

Gou makes him mackerel flavoured chocolate for Valentines Day LIKE WHO DOES THAT.

That one drama CD when Rin thinks Gou is dating someone and immediately assumes that it's Haru. Not any of the other guys. His first thought was Haru.

There's probably more but that's my top 10 lol.

I can’t say about the rookies bc I don’t follow the JP server that closely, but this is my personal opinion on how each troupe views Izumi. Feel free to disagree! Also I’d like to clarify that this does not reflect who I ship Izumi with.

Mankai’s Relationships with Izumi:

Spring Troupe:

Sakuya Sakuma: Admires Izumi for her tenacity and passion for theater. Deeply grateful for the opportunity she created for him by keeping the Mankai company alive. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Masumi Usui: Does this boy even need an explanation. Infatuated with the director; probably sees something in Izumi that draws him to her, might have something to do with his family issues. Still an immature bb tho and probably doesn’t have a good grip on how romantic relationships are supposed to work. Nonetheless, the attraction is real. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Tsuzuru Minagi: More or less same as Sakuya. Although there have been some instances where Tsuzuru has made some comments about Izumi, they can be interpreted loosely - I personally view it as friendly flirting. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Itaru Chigasaki: I’m kinda iffy on this one. I think that the potential is there, but I don’t think that Itaru is ready to fully commit to a serious relationship. He’s appreciative of how Izumi understands the real him, and since their ages aren’t that far apart, he's comfortable around her. As such, he teasingly flirts with her because it’s in his personality. I realllyyyy want to say he views her romantically, but ultimately, I think a serious romance is far off from Itaru’s thoughts. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Citron: More or less same as Itaru. But he has the factor of being a foreigner. Like Itaru, I think the potential is there, but Citron is also has other things on his mind and isn’t looking for a serious relationship. The attraction is there, though! Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Summer Troupe:

Tenma Sumeragi: Yep, I agree! It’s strongly hinted that he has a crush on Izumi. This probably stems from the fact that she was the one who supported him when he was vulnerable, and helped him overcome his weaknesses. I don’t approve though bc age disparity. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Yuki Rurikawa: I can’t recall any shippy moments between them? I view their relationship as a platonic, sibling-like one. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Muku Sakisaka: He’s admitted that he thinks that Izumi is attractive but I think it’s more of a fact to him than an opinion, if you get what I mean? He like acknowledges that she is an attractive woman, but he himself is not romantically attracted to her. Heck, he ships her with other members. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Misumi Ikaruga: Also iffy for me. In general, Misumi is a very affectionate person. He definitely likes Izumi, so she is also subject to his affections. Are they romantic affections, though? I’m not so sure. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Kazunari Miyoshi: I definitely think he’s attracted to her. Not sure how deep it goes, but there have been multiple instances that hint that he likes Izumi. Izumi often shoots him down, but I do believe that his intentions are genuine - it’s just that his personality makes it seem like he isn’t, and he isn’t the type to let it affect him too much. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Autumn Troupe:

Banri Settsu: Yep! It’s also been strongly hinted that Banri is attracted to Izumi. In various backstage stories he’s been shown to be jealous of other members when they interact with Izumi, and he tries to show off in front of her. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Juza Hyodo: Mmmmm kinda iffy? Like some other members, he definitely holds a deep admiration and appreciation for Izumi due to the opportunity she gave them. But there are also some moments that make me think that he could possibly have a crush on her, but he hasn’t realized it yet. But ultimately, I don’t think so. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Taichi Nanao: More or less same as Tenma. Is more upfront about it though, similar to Kazunari. The age disparity, though, hmmmmm. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Omi Fushimi: Whether he realizes it or not, I think he is attracted to Izumi. Many of his backstories show him opening up to Izumi, being protective of her, complimenting her, etc. He’s also quite flirty with her, too. But idk, there’s this vibe that I get from him that makes it seem like he’s holding himself back? Anyway... Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Sakyo Furuichi: The biggest simp of them all. ngl kinda hard to elaborate on this bc it’s so painfully obvious and it just makes sense. Definitely. Yes. Their history? Their interactions? *chef’s kiss* Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Winter Troupe:

Tsumugi Tsukioka: My gut tells me yes! There are some backstories that hint at it - he becomes quite bashful and blushy around the director. There’s this one that I can’t quite remember clearly, but it had something to do with flower language and my heart was just - uwu. Verdict: Views Izumi romantically

Tasuku Takato: Too much of a theater junkie to focus on romantic relationships. I don’t even mean this in a joking manner - I vaguely remember Tasuku saying something about him being completely focused on his acting. That being said, he does like to playfully tease Izumi - it probably comes with being around the same age and living in close quarters - but yeah, nothing serious. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Hisoka Mikage: More or less like Citron, I think. The potential is there, but Hisoka has more pressing matters to focus on besides romance. He’s too deep in his own issues to actively pursue a romantic relationship. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Homare Arisugawa: Now, this may seem a bit controversial, but I personally believe that Homare is one of the least invested members in the company. For him, it’s another way to express his artistry. Yes, he does have meaningful relationships with the members of the company, but I feel like he’s one of the members that is least in it for the sake of passion for theater. Their relationship is more of a working/colleagues/friends one - I really don’t see the two in a romantic light. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically

Azuma Yukishiro: More or less same as Itaru, but with more angst. I think he’s attracted to Izumi. There is potential. But I feel like Azuma tends to distance himself from more serious relationships? He has personal issues that he needs to overcome first. But he does enjoy playfully teasing Izumi - the whole company, really - he just has a flirtatious nature in general. Verdict: Views Izumi platonically.
