Hi I'm indy I'm a new follower I plan on going in to computer science! Any advice ?
Hi there! Ohhh that’s so awesome, good luck! Computer science is an amazing subject to study! I was terrified at first because I haven’t had much experience in coding before going to uni, but you’re going to be just FINE trust me! ✨
💻 first of all DON’T BE SCARED YOU CAN’T CODE - that’s why you’re going to computer science in the first place, to learn to code. Of course, there’s going to be people who are pro-coders already, but don’t get intimidated by them, find your own pace and just do your thing! They’re probably repeating the year anyway or they transferred.
💻 I know in computer science you’re mostly like ‘why do I need lectures when I need to CODE not listen about coding’, but trust me GO TO LECTURES - I attended (almost) every lecture possible during my first year and it really made a World of a difference especially if you’re a newbie to all of this! You’ll meet the professors and you’ll know what they’re expecting of you and they’ll probably tell you some funny stories as well. Plus you’ll have more familiar faces on the campus :)
💻 DO SOME READING - there’s one lecture that I didn’t go to and that was a mistake I tell you. I didn’t go because the lecturer's voice was boring and I was literally falling asleep. But after I did some reading about the subject before the exam I realized his words were very valuable, but unfortunately if you already knew a bit about the subject, so if you have a subject that bores you - do some reading on your own and then go to the lecture. you’ll get much more information out of it!
💻 CODE AT HOME - after you’ve practiced some skills during the classes, go home and practice them again on your own. Try doing something useful or fun with it. Like make it print out “Yolo” in a circle (I did that, no regrets lmao)
💻 INSTALL ALL THE SOFTWARE DURING YOUR FIRST WEEK - install all the things you’re going to need during the year on your first week, honestly, please do! It’ll save you time later on. As soon as the professor mentions what you should install, note it down, go home, install it.
💻 PRACTICE EVEN REALLY SIMPLE THINGS - if you don’t understand anything just type it on youtube and you’ll find plenty of the video tutorials which ARE AMAZING. They helped me a lot with understanding some stuff I couldn’t get a grip of. And I know you’ll find some stuff that you’re like “I don’t need to practice this, this is trivial” IT’S NOT and you’ll get it wrong if you don’t code it at least once, just do it, it’ll take like 30s.
💻 here are some links which really helped me out and I would recommend checking out beforehand: * c++ step by step video tutorials with Bucky (Bucky saved me before the exam)* learn c++ in one video ( doesn’t really teach you c++ in one video, but there’s some useful stuff especially if you’re new to this) * sorting algorithms with hungarian folk dance (lmao these are really useful, I promise) * codeacademy (here’s just basic coding, but good to start with :) )* introduction to 3D graphics with Blender ( THE GOD OF BLENDER) and finally:* incredibly realistic wolf animation
HAVE FUN, RELAX AND GOOD LUCK! ✨✨✨✨ Hope this helped!

studying for the lsat (for free)
i know lsat prep courses are so expensive and i cannot pay for that so i thought i’d share what i’ve been doing
insight lsat on youtube has a playlist with a free prep course, in which they go over each section of the lsat/each type of question you’ll encounter. it’s very helpful and i recommend pausing the video and trying to answer yourself whenever the instructor recommends it!
after going through question types, he provides a list of “homework questions” — the questions add up to essentially being 2 full sections from a few different practice tests, so at the moment i’m doing the questions one recommended practice test at a time (making it 2 full sections each time i practice)
i compile answers to these practice questions in a google doc, where i correct myself and make notes on what went wrong, as well as label what types of questions i missed so i can see any patterns
i use a notion spreadsheet to track how much time per day i study, as well as scores and/or percent accuracy for my actual practice (when doing the homework questions/2 sections instead of a full test, i calculate accuracy since i do not have an actual score)
after working through the lsat insight course and doing all recommended practice, my next step will be to do full timed sections (when i do homework practice it is untimed)
then, i will take a full timed test, so that i have a new diagnostic score and i can plan out the next phase of studying. i will once again track what types of questions i’m missing so i can implement more targeted practice.
more notes:
- i get my practice tests of pdf coffee
- i check answers using manhattan prep (it’s a forum so explanations are detailed and written by real people)
i hope this was at all helpful, and if anyone has any questions or recommendations let me know! :)
Salut! How would you recommend someone to improve their pronunciation in French if they don’t have access to a class/live in the country where French is spoken? I’m trying so hard but I struggle a lot with pronunciation but it’s so so important to me to be able to pronounce words properly and speak well because I love this language so much and it’s very important to me but I’m struggling a lot
You don’t have to live somewhere in particular or go to school to get any kind of skill. Practice and hard work will always be enough. Now :

Listen to audiobooks while reading the written version (see below)
Watch subtitled stuff (Netflix, TED talks, hacked content, TV5 Monde’s Sept jours sur la planète, Public sénat)
Speak to yourself, pretend to be a Youtuber, debate out loud (…) and record it so you can listen to it later

-your study space is any space. if you feel slightly motivated by doing homework in bed, then do it there. if you need a desk (organized or messy) in order to work, then you do you.
-procrastinate with creativity. got a hobby you enjoy that’s infinitely better than reading some old book that’s not really all that important anyway? spend four hours working on that instead.
-wear literally whatever you want. you don’t need button ups, vests, or dress pants if that’s not your style. a sweatshirt, floral skirt, or ugly ass thrifted hawaiian shirt will do just as well if it makes you happy
-don’t get bogged down by depressing things just because it’s “aesthetic.” thinking about the inevitability of death might be nice for some people, but turning yourself into a moody asshole isn’t good for you in the long run. enjoy happy things, romantic things, as long as they don’t always end in tragedy.
-consume media you enjoy. if you find classics boring, don’t feel obligated to read them. if poetry isn’t you thing, then that’s fine. if you don’t like classical music, indie, etc. blast some pop music in your bedroom or whatever else your into. the interest does not the jester make.
-finally: do your best. don’t push yourself to be constantly searching for and taking in new knowledge. take a break, be mindless, allow yourself to relax until the next time you need to learn something new.

Your chocolate brown hair that always seems to be flattened in a baseball cap, and when you take it off there it is the side part that I make fun of all the time.
Not in a I hate you way, but in a way that makes you adorable. Is it weird noticing these things about you? But I notice all types of things like this with others all the time.
The boy that rides the bus at 7:10am with me and his black Bose headphones or the girl who I briefly passed by for a few seconds and her scent of coconut perfume. I remember it all. So it isn’t new to me, but what it is, is scary. Because I care about what you think of me in return so much.
I am certain you know I exist, a familiar face, maybe not my name, which is fair because I do the same. Rather I want to get to know you, yes you are handsome, you’re just my type and yes I’ve imagined scenarios, but what I want to happen the most is to be friends. I’ve never believed in love— no scratch that, I do believe in love, but I don’t believe in it for myself.
I am young, I have been reckless and I most certainly have failed relationship after relationship.
That’s why, I don’t care about getting hurt, but I care about being so perfectly happy when it isn’t true.
I dream of a perfect man, a perfect love not in the definition of perfect itself, but rather the perfect in how he’ll buy me my favorite pants and flowers, open the door for me, stand on the outside by the street, hold hands as much as possible, lean down to hear me and whisper the most outlandish words into my ears at an inappropriate time.
Cook with me, dance the night away, always have open arms, listen to my rants and have the ops, let me cling to him physically and help me bench press and give me kisses as rewards.
That’s the perfect thing that I want, for him to be attractive to me, tall, funny, have a beautiful smile, in essence to sweep me off my feet. I want to believe you are this man, but maybe you are, just not mine. I guess I have to be fine with that, and if I never become your friend at least, I guess I really don’t believe in love.
Maybe one day I’ll be confident enough in myself to not care what the outcome is. I know life is short, I tell myself that all of the time; I hear it and I see it.
