Ever Found Yourself In A Situation Where There Is Absolutely Nothing You Can Do To Change A Situation.

Ever found yourself in a situation where there is absolutely nothing you can do to change a situation. Like you have exhausted all the possibilities you can think of and still come to nothing and all you can do is overthink.

Overthinking about how the situation will pan out. How that situation will leave you stranded. How you are so uncertain that your mind is all over the place.

And when you are in that situation, you can't do anything, let alone think properly.

In my experience, what I've come to find out is that the best think you can do is acknowledge where you are. Acknowledge that you don't know what to do. Acknowledge that there is nothing you can do, like you have no control over the situation and make peace with that.

Sometimes we overthinking because of the uncertain future ahead of us. Overthinking helps us stay in control even if we aren't really in control.

Don't focus too much on what might or might not happen. Bring yourself back to the present moment and away from your mind. You can only focus on this current moment as that is all you're in control of. Once you're here - trust that it will all work out and everything is going to be okay. It's just a hurdle - and you've been through a lot of hurdles in your life even though they were difficult, so what's one more, right?

No amount of thinking can change the outcome of a situation. So save that energy for something peaceful, that fear and anxiety is not worth it. You are going to be okay.β€οΈπŸŽ€

It's not the time passing that you should be worried about but what you choose to do with that time and who you choose to be.

Resilience

Resilience looks like trying again and again regardless of the outcome you're currently getting.

Resilience is choosing to ignore the naysayers and staying focused on your vision until it comes to life.

Resilience is getting up early and showing up for your dream even if you don't feel like it.

Resilience is doing that uncomfortable thing over and over until it becomes second nature.

Resilience is facing fear over and over until you become the best of friends.

Resilience is making the choice to consistently transforming your mind from a negative mindset to a better state of mind.

Resilience is giving your utmost best even though you are at your lowest point.

Resilience is constantly reminding yourself of why you started to begin with.

Resilience is choosing to show up for your future self.

It is choosing to see the starts in the darkest of nights.

Resilience is knowing the importance of the goal but focusing on the process instead.

The best thing that works for me when feeling anxious and airy is first grounding myself.

This could be taking a walk barefoot on the Earth, jumping up and down(if I have the energy).

Sometimes it's just sitting outside being present with whatever is outside. That looks like listening to the birds, sitting on the grass, cloud gazing, bird watching or people watching.

Doing something that simple just makes me feel at home within myself.

After I have done that and I feel grounded that's when I start questioning my thoughts as to whether they are true or not and whether it is within my control or not. And lastly I choose to let go and melt into the present moment. Because in that moment I am choosing to trust God in that moment and in turn it's easier to then trust myself. It's easier said than done but it helps βœ…

This past week I gained a new perspective on gratitude. We always hear how people say "be grateful" or "practice gratitude" or "write a gratitude list" etc. Yet when we do these things it doesn't really change our inner state.

So this week I was reading the book (Good Vibes Good Life) and the author was asking his client what he was grateful for at that moment. And the client replied saying "I'm not grateful for anything".

And the author went on to ask "anything at all, what about your car?" And he's like "oh yeah, I'm grateful for my car" yet deep down he just wasn't feeling it.

So the author went on to ask him "how would your life be different without that car?"🚘

And so he went on to think about how he uses his car to carry groceries from the store to his home, how he uses it to commute to work and how he fetches his kids from school. He also went on to think on to when he was a kid - he had to use the school bus where he also got bullied.

And after that reflection he actually saw how blessed he was.

So I'm asking you now: what are you grateful for in this moment?πŸ€

How would your life be different without that "thing"?πŸ„πŸͺΉ

Yesterday was a public holiday - Worker's day to be exact. So this holiday happened to fall on a Thursday and my sister was complaining about how it was such a bummer that the public holiday fell in the middle of the week instead of it being on a Monday or Friday.

So this just had me thinking on how we as people are always quick to complain even if we receive blessings in our lives.

Sometimes we don't even notice those blessings because they weren't to our expectations or that they weren't good enough for us. So just something I was pondering that just by changing your perspective on something, you can change how you experience life.

Life is sweeter when it is filled with moments of gratitude.

And with that, the year 2024 has begun. Happy New Year to you all. 🎊🎊

With the new year comes the buzz about new year resolutions. What goals, intentions or habits are you setting for yourself this year?

My main intentions for this year are:

Following my joyπŸͺ‡

Being rooted in the present moment 🌴

And showing up more authentically 🐦

And as someone who focuses more on the process rather the the goal, the habits/systems I'm implementing include:

Creating bi weekly contentπŸ“πŸ“‹

Taking daily evening walks πŸ‘£πŸšΆβ€β™€

Listening to self development podcasts πŸ”Š

Remember, when it comes to goal/intention setting, it's more than just what you want to achieve but who you want to be and who you want to show up as. And that is reflected by your daily habits/actions.

_You can do this!! So what's one simple habit are you choosing to focus on?πŸ¦‹

Part 2 of lessons I've learnt in the past year.

Last lesson: Opening my heart and forgiving others.

I had been revisiting my intentions on who I want to be. One of those intentions was to be a more loving person, not just to my family and friends but to people who have wronged me as well.

And so I am choosing to be a more loving through by opening my heart and forgiving others. An example of how I approached this was as follows:

So I had not been getting along with this particular person and so in every situation and interaction with them, I would just decide to be closed of in order to "protect myself".

Since I had decide to be more loving, I chose to forgive them. I chose to approach them different. So in each interaction with them, I decided to be more open and understanding towards them. I would go into these interactions with no assumptions, expectations or feelings of resentment but with the heart to listen and fully understand that person.

And doing so has done wonders for me. This person was also willing to be understanding towards me . Of course, we're not the best of friends but there is now a lightness to our interactions and I think that's beautiful. Sometimes you just have to be the first person to forgive and you never know how that transforms your relationships.

What is it like to experience freedom?

- Freedom is like watching a crow fly overhead with its wings open wide

It's like being underwater and soaking in all that watery silence

Freedom is like being immersed in a good book in a good book that you've forgotten about your existence.

Freedoms is like being so in flow in your craft or skill that you've forgotten you're alive.

Freedom feels like being relieved off a heavy task that you've been avoiding for quite some time.

Freedom is like a flower finally blooming after weeks of hibernation

It's like hitting that high note of a song

Freedom feels like releasing that scream that you've been suppressing the whole day

Freedom is being awed by the beauty of nature

Freedom is letting go off a situation you've been grasping for dear life

Freedom feels like taking that last exhale before dozing off

Freedom is finally removing off that mask that you've been wearing all day just to please everyone

Freedom feels like dancing and letting loose

Freedom is peace of mind

Once upon a time I tried cooking fish a certain way and it didn't come out the way I wanted it to. I first fried it in oil at high heat and it got stuck on the surface of the pan.😩

And my first thought was "well, it was probably because the heat was too much." πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅

And so the next time I tried frying it, I did it on low heat and still the fish got stuck to the pan and turn into little pieces. And I thought "maybe it's because of the pan I was using." 🍳πŸ₯˜

So since that was the only type we had, I had to find a different way of cooking fish without it sticking to the bottom of the pan.(Of course I could've just roasted it in the oven but that takes too much time and more electricity)πŸ•‘βŒ›βš‘

I wanted the easiest and quickest way possible. And so after going through a dew YouTube videos I came across a video where they the dish by first putting the tomatoes, garlic and onions and then putting the fish on top, that way it doesn't stick and it's easier to turn over. And so that's how I had been cooking fish for that entire time. πŸ˜‡

Now a few days ago, my dad bought fish again. This fish looked different and so I decided to go back to frying it first and see if it would work and Lo and behold it worked!

It didn't stick to the pan and it was on high heat. No flour coating whatsoever. 🐟🐟

So now I was wondering what was different then and now and maybe it's because of the type of fish. Or the thickness of the skin.

Anyway the point of this story is about creativity. When we hear of people being creative, we sometimes think of artists, singers, actors etc. We never really see ourselves as creative unless we are doing artistic stuff like drawing, writing, painting or whatever. And so I remember reading somewhere about how being creative is in every living being. It's in our nature being creative. πŸ₯

Doing something a different way makes you a creative. Me deciding to cook that fish dish differently makes me creative. Deciding to take a different route home makes you creative.

Doing something different brings out a different outcome, sometimes something that we would've never imagined. And maybe by doing that you find a way of working that you weren't aware of.

Who would've thought my fish dishes would turn to smithereens. It tasted different, a nice different. Probably because of the texture. Would I intentionally cook it again? No.

But maybe if I was a chef looking to polish my culinary skills I would find a way to incorporate it into another dish where it creates the right flavour based on that texture.πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³πŸ”ͺ

And so doing something different might lead to new discoveries. So in what ways are you choosing to do things differently?🌱✨🌱
