Things About Marauders #2
Mary hated Lily at the start of Hogwarts because Lily was friends with Snape, and he was everything that her ancestors had fought against.
She did NOT leave her muggle life to come to the wizarding world to be discriminated against, for something that wasn't under her control, again.
It wasn't until 2nd year where Lily had slapped Severus for calling someone a mudblood that she deemed her okay to be friends with or in her words, "bless lily with her amazing presence"
evan likes to play with barty's hair—pulling strands of it upward. barty never fixes it after, which is why his hairstyle looks messy, sticking up in every direction. despite that, he doesn't mind because he still looks hot in it—he thinks he's evan's hot mess.
Sirius Black is left handed
Remus first learns this when they are sitting with their hands interlocked doing work and Sirius just casually writes his essay with his left hand because his right is holding Remus’
And Remus is shocked because how has he never noticed??
And he’s not writing in his perfect Black cursive, his handwriting with his left hand is a lot messier, a lot more ‘him’
But the next day he is taking notes in class with his right hand and the perfect handwriting is back and Remus is so confused
So he finally asks Sirius about it and he tells him about how he was born a leftie
But his parents couldn’t have a defected heir, so they forced him to learn with his right hand
So now he can write pretty well with both but just defaults to the right because that’s what he’s always done
And Remus just decides at every opportunity to sit on Sirius’ right and hold his hand so he has to write with his left
Because it’s so beautiful and true and him
regulus says "i love stargazing," looking at the stars
james says "i love stargazing," looking at his star
The people who compare Regulus to a star and James to the sun are correct, but consider: the sun IS a star. Regulus burns just as brightly as James does. You just have to get closer to him.
traitor - January 8th - jegulus, platonic prongsfoot - @black-brothers-microfic - word count: 382
As soon as James walked into his flat, he got the odd sense he should leave. The very air was thick with anger, and he knew it could only mean one thing. Turning to tiptoe quietly back out the door, he managed to make it all the way to the entrance before-
"James!"
Fuck.
"Will you tell your fiancé what a traitor he is?" Sirius screeched, standing in the door of the kitchen with his arms crossed and looking furious.
Before James could ask why, another, equally scary voice replied from within the room.
"James, will you tell your best friend he's an idiot?" Regulus called, voice full of both annoyance and amusement.
James considered calling Remus for help, but he knew it was too late. "What happened?" he asked wearily, shucking his jacket and walking into the warzone.
"Regulus told me I can't be his Best Man!" Sirius shrieked, throwing his hands in the air. "The audacity! I'm his only sibling and-"
"Because you're James's Best Man, you dumbarse!" Regulus interrupted, giving James a look that demanded he speak. "You can't be Best Man for both!"
"Why not? I damn well should be! I'm the most important person in both of your lives!" Sirius yelled, eyes wild.
James sighed, finally stepping in. "Regulus, did you tell Sirius what he would be doing instead of being your Best Man?" he asked the younger man gently, trying not to cause any more blow ups.
"No," Regulus grumbled. "He wouldn't let me." But he turned to Sirius and took a deep breath, as if trying to calm himself. "You're going to walk me down the aisle, Sirius. Give me away, and all that."
Immediately, Sirius's demeanor changed. His crossed arms fell to his sides and his furrowed eyebrows lifted as his eyes filled with tears. "Wh-what?" he asked, voice trembling.
"Oh, fuck, he's going to cr-" Regulus said fearfully, looking aghast and turning to get away from is brother.
But it was too late. Sirius pulled Regulus into a bear hug, sobbing hysterically. "I- l- lo- love y- you s- so m- mu-" he stuttered, tears streaming down his face and onto Regulus's expensive jumper.
"James, help!" Regulus hissed, looking like a trapped animal.
"Nah, love, that's all you," James grinned, turning to leave.
Remus Lupin, who's hard of hearing but can't afford hearing aids always has to ask people to slow down or write what they're saying because most students don't know sign language.
Regulus Black, who's selectively mute and communicates mostly with sign language.
Regulus is going down to the medical wing to get a potion for Evan. He froze, seeing Remus, talking(?) to Pomfrey in sign language. Remus notices him, standing there frozen. He speaks up, “You alright there, mate?”
Regulus blinks, snapping out of his trance and nods, crossing over to Pomfrey, and signing, “I need a Pepperup for Evan”
“Of course, dear. One moment.” Pomfrey responds, walking off to get the potion.
Once she is out of view, Remus turns around to face Regulus, then signs to him, “You know sign?”
Regulus nods, “Yes, I do.” he signs in reply.
And that is how their friendship started.
thinking about james guiding regulus through the halls to his classes because he’s reading while walking
“careful here, love. that’s the missing step. cmon, just hop over it a little.”
thinking about regulus trying to focus on his book but getting flustered by james’ arm around him so that he doesn’t smash into a wall
thinking about everyone thinking they’re dating but james is just thinking “okay, just guiding my best friends adorable, pretty, perfect little brother to his classes. no gay panic here, no sir.”
In every Wolfstar fic there's one trope that I really REALLY love: Sirius always being/becoming best friend with James.
It could be a muggle AU, they could be strangers, whatever, Sirius and James always find each other and become BBF.
(And when they don't, they do in my mind)
I love it sm 😭
"the black family madness" the books call it. "the consequences of inbreeding" is what it actually is
